Chapter 102: Chapter 102
It's been a few months since Sophia left town and Stacy feels drained. The way they parted. She knew she made a mistake kissing Chad but at that moment, she couldn't think of anything except the vibe around them and her long-standing feelings for the boy.
During these summer holidays, Sophia had gone to the beach with her mother. She would have liked to accompany her there but she had a summer job. Chad also said he couldn't afford a trip at the time because his father had brought in a personal trainer for him.
She doesn't know why Chad is so obsessed with training but she imagines that he wants to turn pro which is why he is so invested. This is also one of the reasons why she is so in love with him even if the guy is crazy about Sophia who in turn treats him like shit. But hey, she's no one to judge their couple, Chad didn't seem to complain about it. Sophia was always very dry with her words, speaking without measure, even if it ended up hurting her interlocutor.
So Sophia, being at the beach, Stacy thought she could help Chad after work, so she brought him some pick-me-ups and attended some of the workouts, the ones she was allowed to attend. His master, a certain Spencer, had mistaken her for Chad's girlfriend, it had warmed her heart but immediately, Chad had corrected his master, sending her back to a simple friend. It hurt but he had told the truth. She found Chad's training unorthodox, but hey, that must be why he was so good.
One evening after his training, she had gone to look for him because there was a fireworks show organized by the town hall of the city. She thought it would help them decompress a bit from their daily lives. That day she had gone to invite Chad with a beating heart, she was hoping that he would accept but at the same time, she was a little dreadful. They would find themselves alone together and she doesn't know if she could control her feelings.
Stacy arrived as Spencer was manhandling poor Chad in her sense, she heard they were stopping there for today and ran to Chad with a towel. Spencer watched the two teens from afar having fully grasped the situation, Chad told him about his wonderful girlfriend going to the beach and introduced Stacy as his friend and his girlfriend's best friend. But it was obvious that the best friend had a crush on her friend's boyfriend. But hey, those kid stories weren't his problem.
" I was thinking, if you're not tired of course, would you like to go watch the fireworks with me?"
Chad had looked at her for a long time before shaking his head in refusal, Stacy's face falling, but that was without counting Spencer's intervention.
" Hey kiddo, it would be cool to distract you a little don't you think my little Chad? Come on, go, anyway tomorrow there is no training so you can afford a little distraction."
Chad smiled before finally accepting, much to Stacy's delight.
He went to shower before finding her in front of his house towards the main square. There were a lot of people and they came across many comrades, they all asked him where Sophia was, there was never anything for her. To believe that she didn't exist unless Sophia argued.
It didn't matter, thanks to Sophia she was able to make a friend and now she is part of a popular group. It's better than being in a group of nerds and outcasts and getting harassed. It was better that way.
The ride with Chad was also awkward for her because the guy was just talking about his wonderful girlfriend. What troubled her is that he knew her perfectly, her deviations and her bitchy behavior, but he claimed that it gave her a cute side.
It was something she couldn't grasp. Friends brought cans of beer and they had a blast. At the end of the fireworks, Chad offered to accompany her, separating himself from the others and while she was in front of her porch, she decided to be a bit daring and kiss the boy she's loved since elementary school. Chad was surprised for a moment but curiously kissed her back. For a few seconds, they kissed before Chad pushed her away feeling embarrassed.
" Well, we drank a little too much, didn't we? Let's forget that, it was just a mistake caused by emotion."
Stacy believed her heart has been crushed, smiling nonetheless to hide her grief.
" You're right. A good shower and I'm going to rest. Good night Chad."
Chad left and Stacy went to her room crying over her situation. Like every evening, she wrote down what happened that day, her thoughts, and her feelings in her diary.
Time passed and Sophia returned to the course of their life continuing until the death of Madam Anne. Sophia told them what had happened two years before and she wondered how she knew.
What Stacy didn't know was that Sophia had read her diary and discovered her secret thoughts about her and Chad. It amused her a little, deciding to prosecute her a little to teach her not to covet what belongs to her anymore.
But then she left without a trace, abandoning her who never really knew how to live without Sophia. Chad has become more distant lately and tired of this situation, so she decided to go to her college in Capital City early. But she's good for nothing when Sophia and Chad aren't there to guide her and she was kidnapped, she doesn't know how but by a lucky twist of fate, she was released running away from this town. She would go to her second-choice college even if she loses a very good opportunity.
So she went this morning to say goodbye to Chad but he was nowhere.
" Oh isn't it Stacy? Haha she always revolves around her best friend's boyfriend"
Stacy sighed, one of the girls who was also in love with Chad and hated Sophia. She was still her opponent in the high school queen contest and was the vice-captain of the cheerleading team. Sophia always knew how to put her in her place but she doesn't have that strength of character. The reason why she kept being harassed by this girl and her group was if Chad didn't come by to defend her.
Stacy decided to ignore them and move on, but these girls wouldn't give her the chance.
" You know, everyone knew it except you but you were always seen as Sophia's dog following her everywhere. Haha."
Stacy lowered her head, she knows it very well, she's always lived in Sophia's shadow but now that's going to change. She is going to fend for herself and accomplish great things for her future.
She glared at the group of girls before walking through them.
" Girls your age are trying to prepare for their future, but you, three months after graduating, are still roaming around with your gang like you were in high school. But that's over, grow up a bit, all those little childish things are over, you're not in high school anymore my dear."
The girl blushed in embarrassment as Stacy crossed them away from them. It's over, she'll manage on her own.
" Sophia, where are you and what are you doing? You know I miss you so much. I know we broke up on bad terms but I hope to see you again. By then I will have changed and I will be worthy of being your best friend."
