Chapter 44: Chapter 44
Instantaneously, my look shifts from one of surprise to one of wrath. "What in the name of all that is holy are you hoping to achieve by being here?" I enquire in a tone that is authoritative.
"I come to see my son," the mother remarked as she entered the room. According to him, he is getting closer.
"It is imperative that you have been a part of this community from the very beginning. This happened place twenty-four hours ago to the minute. When did that take place, and where were you?" I've had it up to here with the way that he treats Mark, so I decided to inquire about it.
"I was working." He says this without exhibiting any sorrow in his comments at all, which is surprising.
Do you consider the importance of your job to be higher than the importance of your son? I ask stern again. That catches him off guard completely.
"Of course not." He makes an effort to deceive you.
"Liar." As I feel tears welling up in my eyes, I murmur something under my breath. I can't help it.
"I am not lying! My love for my son is boundless and unending." He states that he is getting more and more frustrated.
"If you loved him as much as you say you do, you wouldn't have made him marry someone he hadn't even met yet!" / "If you loved him as much as you say you do, you wouldn't have done that!" "If you loved him as much as you claim you do, you wouldn't have done that!" or "If you loved him as much as you say you do, you wouldn't have said that!" I react even as I move closer to the person who is speaking.
"That's a fresh perspective. Because there was no other option available to them." He does a terrible job defending. "Bullshit!" I continue to scream despite the fact that he is getting closer. You didn't do that for anyone else but yourself, did you? "Oh, I did, and there's nothing you can do about it!" "There's nothing you can do about it!" "There is absolutely nothing you can do to change it!" John does concede.
I'm taken aback. As he verified my concerns, I was extremely taken aback by his response. "There are issues with the plan that you have." I say stern.
"Oh course. Your business, or should I say "my business," makes perfect sense to me at this point." He claims it was done in a wicked way.
I responded by saying that one shouldn't place too much stock in what they heard. I say.
The next question he asks is, "Is it a threat?"
"Oh sure, absolutely, you can rely on it." I say not backing down. "You see, by drafting such a minuscule contract, you made it absolutely certain that Hernandez would be awarded the business. Because of your insistence that Mark wed me, the Hernandez family now includes both of us as married members. Both Mark and I share the Hernandez surname. There is not the slightest hint that Mark is compelled in any way, shape, or form to hand over the business to you. That is his to retain, and he is free to do anything he wants with it. He has complete discretion over the matter." I mean this with the utmost seriousness that a human being is capable of expressing.
When he first looks at you, his eyes get quite big, and you can tell that he's a little bit nervous just by looking at him. Suddenly his haughty and confident demeanor comes back into play again. "So it looks like he won't be allowed to continue working for the company after all. My viewpoint doesn't matter to him nearly as much as he gives it credit for." As he states. When all of the movies are considered together, he is the antagonist in each one.
"Well, wouldn't you just have a gander, please? The honor of being named Father of the Year award winner "I direct my message to the hypocrites in the room. "to use his son as a weapon in order to accomplish what he set out to do." I say glancing back at him.
"He'll never believe you. Not one bit." This is what John says. "I'm going to purchase that business, and then I'm going to put him in charge of operating it. I'll be stronger than I've ever been before." He maintains an abnormal amount of confidence despite his failures.
When acting like the tough guy isn't helping me obtain what I want, I'll have to use a different tactic "Do you not want your son to have happiness throughout his life? You are his one and only viable option for a parent at this point. Do you think that Mark's mother would approve of the manner that you are treating her son? Do you believe that she would?" That is stated in the most innocent manner I've ever adopted when speaking.
The sheer fact that his late wife is brought up causes him to display a few cracks, and I can tell that he is also tensing up. "No." He does this while putting on his most threatening visage and making his assertion.
I can't believe it. I was under the impression that this strategy would be fruitful. "You are such a pig when it comes to caring for yourself, you. Get out of here as quickly as you can!" I yell.
"Well, I'll get out of here. Despite this, I want you to know that I will be able to purchase that company in the near future." He says this as he walks toward the front door of the building.
"Try not to be overly confident in yourself all the time." I say that with my teeth gritted together in a very intense manner. "I am able to convince other people of my point of view."
As soon as he leaves my location, I quickly give up my tough-guy act and go back to the state in which I was previously, which is concerned and upset. I go back over my previous steps till I reach the entrance to Mark's room, and then I go in. As I enter the room with my head lowered, I make my way over to his bed and take a seat there. "I'm sorry Mark." I speak softer than before. The sudden awareness of someone else's hand making touch with mine causes my head to jerk up in startlement. "Mark?" I query, shocked.
When I woke up after having chemotherapy, he questioned me in the same manner that I had questioned him: "How are you doingin?"
I couldn't help but laugh, and then I gave him a bear embrace. "You're awake." I think it would be best to get very near to his face and concentrate on looking directly into his eyes. "You're awake." I say registering it now. "I have to get to the hospital as soon as possible." I would suggest standing up and exiting the room as soon as possible. I went and informed a nurse about what I had discovered. She comes along with me to the location and assists Mark in sitting up while simultaneously making a call to the doctor.
After a few moments, he enters the room through the door. "Mark, how are you feeling today?" The remark is made by him when he is in the position of standing at the foot of the bed. I began to call dad.
It is necessary for me to relocate. "Hello dad." I speak into the microphone that is attached to the phone receiver. I would appreciate it if you could put me on speakerphone, if that's possible.
You can expect him to inform you, "You're on."
You made a statement along the lines of, "OK, so Mark is awake, and the physician advised me to let you come visit him." I speak into the microphone that is attached to the phone receiver. It is so loud that I am almost compelled to pull it away from my ear so that I can hear better.
Already, we're off to a promising beginning. It's the last thing someone says before hanging up.
"Did each and every one of them let out a scream?" Mark indicates that he would like for me to join him on the bed by requesting that "Scotching" move over. As he kisses the side of my head, I respond by gently nodding my head.
Before you will be able to go back to your house, you are going to be required to stay in this area for a couple of additional days. On the intercom, a voice can be heard from the doctor stating that he is now checking things off on his clipboard.
"Knowing that is of great assistance." Mark responds as he draws me in closer to him and increases the pressure he is applying to my hand at the same time. I grin at the doctor as he departs and shake my head in acknowledgement. "So, what exactly have I been lacking all this time?" Mark asks.
"Nothing, nada, zilch, nada. The chemotherapy was very successful in its operation. Maddy spent the evening and night at my place. I didn't start feeling better until Wednesday. I was told about you in a phone call, so I hurried over here as soon as I could. And so it is that we have arrived at this point. Even though I tried, I was unable to leave this room." I have provided further detail.
"Really?" He asks. You didn't leave me for anyone else, did you?
"Of course, I did," she replied. When I talk, it is as though there is no room for discussion or argument. As I get about to perform it, I take a long, deep breath in and then close my eyes. "There's something essential I need to talk to you about, Mark," the speaker said. "I hope you don't mind." Just what is it, exactly?
"I-" My next statement is cut short by the commotion caused by the door being opened and everyone entering the room at the same time.
"Hello Mark." Mark receives a pat on the back from my grandfather after my grandfather calls for all of us to come over. "How are things going for you at the moment?" He asks. Everyone is looking at him intently in the hope that he would provide an explanation.
They described him as "decent, but starved." As he states. Everyone in the room is roaring with laughter. They walk up to us one at a time and have individual discussions with each of us before leaving together as a group. "So, what exactly was it that I required from you to know?" After the door has been shut, Mark gives me a questioning glance before turning back to look at the door.
"It's no big deal. It is not a pressing matter." I say. I have a serious obligation to tell him right now that I love him. Simply put, I'm concerned about how other people may react, particularly given that I only recently got him back. Simply said, I don't want to find myself in a situation where I don't have him.
"Ok." He says understanding. "Would you like to see a movie?" He asks, breaking what had been an awkward hush that had descended upon the room.
"Sure I do. I can guarantee that I will respond to each and every one of your questions. No matter what the circumstances are." I make this comment while staring directly into his eyes for a brief period of time. After giving his cheek a peck on the cheek, I proceed to set up my laptop at the foot of the bed and then move over to my movie collection, which has been given to me at this point.
My mind keep going back to the conversation that I had with John, if you can even call what we talked about a conversation. It seems like just yesterday. I am more adamant than ever that I do not want him to be in a position where he could buy the company. Despite the fact that Mark is a jerk, I do not plan to let him know about it in any way shape or form. I want to win his favor in a way that is both sincere and unpretentious.
