Chapter 17: Chapter 17

Jessie's POV

"I am really exhausted. I swear that devil is really doing this on purpose!"

I cringed after hearing what Jason had said while sprawled on the floor.

They just came back after a long recording for their second song and again, the boys had been venting out their frustration about their devil producer which they didn't know was me.

"He said my voice kept on cracking, it isn't!" Jake pouted.

"It is, Jake. Puberty is hitting you hard." Rome teased.

"I was way past off my puberty." he snickered.

I look at Samantha unnie who was chuckling while sitting down the cushion, her feet spread across Jake and Josh who are both frowning.

"Is it that funny to you?" Jake asked amused how their frustrations seem to be funny to his older sister.

"No." she said as she giggles, her eyes on me.

At this rate, the boys are going to catch on.

"Jake, your noona is really weird," Vash muttered, his eyes glued on the alien toy that was given by one of his fans.

It's funny how he was having a hard time thinking the perfect name for the toy. What's more amusing was, he was torn between 'Juju' and 'Jiji'.

"Hyung, your girlfriend is weird." Jake piped in, as he plays piano tiles on his phone.

A soft chuckle escaped my lips as I see Samantha unnie kick Jake on the side while the other simply groan in pain.

"Yah, stop pestering your sister." then Josh smiled at his girlfriend. The guy knows how to handle his girl as Samantha unnie pouted playfully as he looked at Josh.

"I'm going in my room. I can't take this." Rome stood up but as he does so, his right knee 'accidentally' hit the table making the glass of water at the top fall.

Thank God Haiden was quick enough to catch the glass before it came in contact with the ground.

"Or not." he said as he quickly sat back to the couch, not even sparing a glance at Josh.

After a few weeks of staying with them, I came to realize that Rome always destroys thing while Josh either fixes or replaces it. It's like a cycle that never ends.

"Seriously?" Josh glared at him and Rome just grimace.

The leader isn't the boss in the house, it's the mom.

"It's so boring," Haiden said as he tries to lay beside Yohan who's eyes already closed.

"By the way," all of us had to turn our head to Samantha unnie after she bolted up from her seat, clapping her hands as if she just thought of something interesting.

Her eyes landed on mine and I had prayed to God that zombies soon attack because the glint in her eyes shows that she's up to no good.

"Why don't you sing for us?" she blatantly told everyone.

My eyes went wide as I look at her

What are you doing? I mentally sent her a message and I was sure she had understood because she just shrugged her shoulders.

"Or would you guys rather hear me sing?" she joyfully exclaimed as if it was a good idea.

I was surprised when Yohan bolted up from his slumber and looked at me.

"Please sing for us, Jessie." He immediately answered, his eyes pleading.

What's wrong with him?

I heard Rome muttering something about some balls.

"We beg of you." I look at Jason who's now kneeling on the floor, his hands clasped together. And then he pulled Vash who must have understood and done the same.

"I'm not that bad." Samantha unnie pouted.

"We're a little afraid it isn't just Rome's balls would be in danger," Haiden said wide-eyes.

I looked at them confused and I heard Samantha unnie whimpered.

"Actually, she wasn't bad. As long as she's not on that you-know-what state, she sounds amazing." Jake shrugged while Josh nodded. But the rest of the boys just glared at the two as if not believing any of it.

"Please? Pretty please?"

I rolled my eyes as Jason, Vash, and Haiden continued to pester her while Yohan just looked at me smiling as if telling me to go for it.

I gulped. I'm not actually used to letting people hear me sing. That time when Yohan heard me, it was an accident.

"I-ahm," I'm not even sure how to respond.

I look at Samantha unnie who was smiling at me widely.

A sigh escaped my lips.

I guess, there's no harm in doing.

I stood up from my seat and adjusted the shirt that I was wearing because it went up a little showing my tummy. My face flushed as I saw the boys smiling cheekily at me.

I went and sat down on the piano, I gulp as I feel all eyes on my back.

"You play the piano?" Jason asked, amused.

I just nodded in response thought I wasn't really sure if they saw as my back is already facing them. My hands landed on my thighs, rubbing the imaginary sweat on my palms, a little nervous about what's about to happen.

I've never really let people hear me sing. My voice is something I am not confident with, I mean, not that people would want to listen to me anyways.

Nobody listens, that's how things have been ever since.

I look back to the guys who were patiently waiting for me.

Okay, this is it.

I lifted my hands and started ticking in notes, making myself used to keys in front of me. After a minute, I started pressing some keys that are all too familiar with me, the melody ringing in my ears. A song that I usually sing whenever I am alone.

Untrue… but I hope it’s true

You You You

I closed my eyes as I feel the music. Music is the only thing that keeps me lost in my own world, an escape that I'm all too willing to take.

Don’t think of anything, stop whatever it is

Don’t say anything, just close your eyes

Just give me a smile

I still can’t believe what’s happening

All of this seems like a dream, a beautiful dream

Don’t try to disappear

Is it true? Is it you?

You You

You’re so beautiful, you’re my all

Untrue… but I hope it’s true

You You You

Will you stay by my side forever?

Will you promise me you’ll never leave?

If I let go of your hand, you’ll fly away and runaway

I’m scared to death, please don’t run away

Will you stop time, stop every thing?

If this moment passes

As though it hadn’t happened

I’m scared, so please don’t leave…

The song ended and I was still lost. Music, I can live with music alone with my life and I will okay with that. A smile tugged at the corner of my lips, almost forgetting that I wasn't alone in the room.

Then it hit me, I slowly turned around and saw the boys, their mouths hanging wide open.

For a moment, I got really nervous.

"Is it really that bad?" I asked them, a sad smile covered my face.

It took a minute before I heard Samantha unnie clapping and jumping up and down.

"Oh my God, that was so beautiful!" she exclaimed. I looked at the ground, unable to handle her compliment.

It was just then that the boys seemed to get out from the trance that they're in.

"That was so amazing!" Josh oppa said, smiling widely at me along with Rome, looking a little proud.

"Your voice was so beautiful. It's so mesmerizing." Jake added.

"Why were you keeping that voice all to yourself? That voice deserves to be heard by the world." I giggled at what Jason had said.

"Damn it Jason, how can I follow that up?" Haiden turned to the other looking annoyed. But once he looked back at me, a smile was showing on his face. As expected with our hope.

They've been cheering me all of a sudden and I had to laugh at Vash who was jumping up and down, his hands clasped into mine.

This kid is a little too hyper for me.

And then my face landed on Yohan. He was looking at me intently, as if in deep thought.

Did he not like it?

My heart fell from my chest. In all honesty, I was waiting for him to say something about it.

Maybe it wasn't as good as I thought.

My thoughts were taken away by Vash who pulled me back to the piano and had asked me to teach him how to play.

And somehow, my mind got distracted by the little alien beside me.

At least there are some people who still appreciate me, that's what it matters. I told to myself. So for once, I'm letting myself to get lost within the happiness that these people bring before me.
