Chapter 47: Chapter 47

‘A royalty!’ A voice laughed inside of my head. It was clearer compared to the other voices streaming in the background.

I jolted up immediately as the eeriness of its voice sent shivers all throughout my body. “Oh Gosh!” I yelled, scaring my familiar that was resting it’s chin on my bare stomach. I then looked all around me. I was back in my hut.

‘Master!’ My familiar whimpered excitedly and started licking my face while wagging it’s tail at me furiously. He was getting crazy smothering me that Ren had to pull my familiar back just so I can breathe.

“You’re alive!” Ren whispered and suddenly engulfed me into an embrace. As soon as we parted, I took note that his eyes and nose were a bit red. Was he crying? “I..I thought you…”

This time, it was Nate who had to pull Ren back to give me some space. Upon doing so, Ren and Nate almost fought while PRINCE Ace kneeled beside me and placed the back of his hand on my forehead to check my temperature.

When I tried to look at his face. He immediately pulled my hair so that my gaze casted downward. “What the f*ck!” I yelled.

“You seem to be fine.” Was all he said. When I turned to glare at him, his back was already facing me.

‘Kick his back. Plan for revenge!’ A voice spoke at the back of my mind that I immediately shook away. Geez. PRINCE Ace is such a d*ck that even my conscience wants me to kick him. Impressive.

I looked at Nate and Ren. The vampire prince’s eyes were as red as Ren’s as they continued to push each other away from me. I cocked my head to the side and scratched my head wondering why on Earth would they assume that I was dead. “Care to refresh my memory? I really don’t remember anything.” I frowned. My memory was a bit foggy and I have this feeling that I was forgetting something important. But what is it?

Ren looked at me and immediately turned away as he...cried? What’s he crying for? In that brief moment, Nate felt sympathy for Ren as he placed a gentle hand on the werewolf’s shoulder. And then he looked at me. “You almost died. Fical was able to stab you with his claws and inflicted poison on you. It was just below your heart. Luckily, your familiar was able to save you just in time.”

Just then, I remembered seeing Fical’s demonic face as he stabbed me in the stomach. I remembered the shock and the tremendous pain that it came after it.

Custard escaped Ren’s grasp and buried his face to my neck. ‘Master, I waited years for you. Please don’t leave me.’ I noticed the tremendous shake that Custard was having and it was not normal. A thought suddenly occurred to me when I remembered the rule about healing.

I grabbed my familiar's head and looked it in the eyes. “Custard? Who took the pain of the poison when you healed me?” I demanded even though I already knew the answer.

‘I did.’ He said. It was pretty obvious with how Custard was shaking and the strong panting that he was giving off. ‘It’s fine, master. I can endure it as long as you won’t leave.’

“Go on. Rest now.” I whispered in his ears. Very slowly. Custard rested his head onto my lap and I could not help but watch as he shrank in size and back into the small wolf that he was. I guess healing me really took a lot out of him.

I carried his sleeping form and placed it into the bed that I was laying on. “Rose, are you sure you are alright to even be standing?” Nate asked me worriedly.

“I’m fine.” I answered him while looking at the sleeping form of my familiar.

“Well if you are feeling before then we need to go and meet with the chief. It’s about time we get that chalice!” Ace says as he moves out of the hut while aggressively swinging the beaded curtains away.

Geez. Why is he always in such a damn mood?

“I guess we better follow him.” Nate says after a long pause of looking at the spot where the PRINCE left.

I looked at Custard one last time before Ren carried him for me as we followed the rest out of the hut.

Somehow I keep having this nagging feeling like something was wrong and I couldn't help but wonder what. All I know is that I feel irritated for some reason. Ren was still beside me as we talked.

“By the way. What happened to Fical?” I asked. Though my attention seemed to wander elsewhere as I looked at the aftermath of what transpired here after crazy Fical and the evil spirit went berserk. People were busy cleaning up the village that no one seemed to mind us as we passed through.

For me though, I somehow got irritated at the sight of the mess that was surrounding us.

“That seemed to return to normal and passed out just beside you. Though as for whether he has a broken bone or not, we are not so sure. You can ask that werewolf over there.” Nate says while pointing at Ren.

A chicken stopped right in front of me that I had to pause from walking just so I could glare at it. How dare this bird obstruct my path!

‘Grab it! Grab that chicken!’

“That guy stabbed Rose and she almost died!” I heard Ren yelling in the background while I crouched down to pick up the chicken and trapped it inside a woven basket so it cannot obstruct anymore. Stupid bird!

“You know that he was possessed. I bet he didn’t mean to hurt her.” Nate says. Their voices got farther and farther as they continued to walk while I stayed behind to harass this chicken.

“Really? You are defending that guy?”

“Hey. I am just trying to be open minded. And I do care what happens to Rose. All of us do.”

I ignored their conversation as I focused on the chicken and started shaking the basket lightly. The bird let out an annoyed sound and kept on pecking the basket. I laughed at the poor bird’s attempts.“What the hell are you doing?” This voice was somehow closer that I had to look up. It was PRINCE Ace. His gaze fell on the cooped up chicken inside the basket before they returned to me. “Really? Harassing a chicken?”

“Hey.” I pointed at him. “I don’t complain to you when you harass people ALL the damn time.” I reminded him..

“That’s because, unlike you, I know how to take care of myself when they start to retaliate.”

I scoffed. “What? You think a dumb chicken can harm me?” I dared him, which was the wrong thing to do.

Ace gave me a bored look as he lifted the basket up. The chicken wasted no time as it flew straight to my face. I let out a strangled whimper. I couldn’t even scream since I was afraid that I might eat some of its feathers.

I managed to grab the chicken and throw it aside. Thankfully it did not return. I was now glaring at PRINCE Ace, who now has a satisfied look on his face.

“I better hurry if I were you. Who knows, it might come back. I heard it likes dumb blondes and you fit right in that category.” He says before turning around and following the others. I did the same while still glaring at PRINCE Ace.

I could finally hear the conversation between Ren and Nate again, but even though I could hear their conversation, I was still focused on Ace’s back.

That is, until I saw a huge rock on that ground that I carried with me. It was a bit heavy that I had to carry it with both hands.

‘Yes. Pick it up and hurl it at that PRINCE. Make him suffer and knock him out!’

“Come to think of it, didn’t Ace-”

“PRINCE!”

“-said that the evil spirit vanished from Fical?”

I grunted silently as I did not want to let them see me carrying this rock. ‘Yes, girl. Throw it at him!’ I don’t know what is wrong with my conscience right now, but I am loving her! We are finally on the same page. And it is about damn time!

“I checked using that pendant. There was nothing there. That guy is cleared.” Ace replied as confirmation for them.

I grinned evilly as I raised the rock over my head and started to take aim. Sayonara you damn loser!

“Weird. Where do you guys think that the evil spirit went? Do you think that it just gave up? Maybe it was trying to target Rose. And when it assumed that she died, it thought that its mission was over and decided to leave?”

Uh oh.

I immediately threw the rock that I was holding to the side. I heard screams and clay pots breaking before hiding my hands behind my back. I batted my eyelashes at the princes innocently as they turned towards me.

“What do you think, Rose?” Ren asked me while carrying a small Custard that was sleeping peacefully in his arms.

“What do I think of what?” I asked.

Ren laughed. “Still having trouble focusing. Well at least we know that you really are alright. What we were saying earlier is what do you think happened to the evil spirit that possessed Fical? You were the last one who was with him.”

Evil spirit? Oh boy. Oh no. No no no. Sweat started to form on my forehead as I realized who or what my new conscience really is.

“I don’t know?” I said without even thinking about it. “I blacked out before I could even see anything. Sorry.” I said. Thankfully the princes bought my excuse and turned around and started walking again.

I walked back a pew paces behind them as I reached into my subconscious. ‘It is you, isn’t it? You possessed me! Get out of me!’ I yelled at the back of my head.

It was finally making sense. The evil conscience that urges me to kick and throw rocks at children was suspiciously getting too strong for me to ignore. I mean, I normally can stop my anger towards Ace, but throwing rocks at him? That is just wrong.

‘Of course it is wrong! You know what would be better? Get that hammer to your right and swing it at him. He is very rude to you and that is not how he should treat someone as important as you.’

I looked to the side and saw a man made hammer that was made by tying a rock to a sturdy stick.

I frowned. ‘That one? Wow, you really are the evil spirit.’

‘Hush, my darling. I know that you-’

‘We should use that instead.’ I thought as I fixed my gaze at the larger hammer just beside it. It was bigger and deadlier than the one that it was indicating. It was perfect!

The evil spirit was silent for a few minutes before it made its presence known again. ‘I...I think you got this covered without my supervision...you have a lot of issues, woman.’

I grinned evilly as I made my way to grab the Axe. As I picked it off of the ground. I saw a kid looking at me with wide and scared eyes as I continued to drag it to the ground. I placed a hand over my lips as a gesture of silence. “Snitches get stitches.” I whispered menacingly at the kid before I continued my plan.

The princes were still busy talking while I slowly made my way towards them. Grunting as I dragged the hammer. They suddenly stopped in front of the chief, who was sitting on a barrel while waiting outside of a hut.

“Chief.” Nate says just as I stopped right behind them while hiding the hammer behind my back. Not yet. I will wait for the perfect time. “How is your son?”

“His uncle is tending to him. He wants to make sure that he is back to his normal self.” The chief says. “Is there something that you need?”

“The chalice.” Ace went straight to the point as he said it.

The chief looked slightly troubled at his request as he casted his gaze on the ground. “You are this village’s saviours. But as much as I wanted to repay you for what you have done the chalice might be too much. I don’t even know what future our tribe can still have with everything that is happening.”

“What do you mean?”

“Evil spirits are going berserk. People turning against each other. I don’t know how long people can still trust me. To even trust anyone to lead them.”

I rolled my eyes at the chief’s dramatic dialogues. It was now or never.

I started to inch closer to PRINCE Ace while the four of them were busy talking. An excited and evil giggle threatened to escape the back of my throat that I desperately tried to hide.

“We don’t care about your bull-” Nate placed a hand on Ace’s shoulder to stop him from completing his sentence.

“Ace, be sensitive. Their tribe just got wrecked.” He says.

Ace shrugged his hand away. “It’s PRINCE! How many times must I remind all of you?!” He says while looking back at the chief. At this moment I was raising the hammer over my head as I readied myself to strike.

‘Ngyuehuehuehuehue.’

“And as for you, there is something that you should know.” PRINCE Ace looked back at the chief. “I know someone who can lead you. Someone with the right blood and status to lead your tribe.”

Oh boy. This hammer is quite heavy. I should make sure that I get him in one strike.

“She may be an idiot but her heritage is the real deal.” He said and jerked a thumb behind him in my direction.

I paused as I seemingly got interested in the conversation. Are they talking about me? They are talking about me, right? What were they talking about?

“You mean the goddess? Even though that is ideal, it is still not advisable because she is a god.” The chief says and I silently nodded in agreement at his words.

“You idiot! And this is why you are not qualified to be the leader!” Ace yelled at him. Ouch, that was harsh. “That idiotic buffoon over there is no goddess! She is a princess! YOUR TRIBE’S PRINCESS!”

“You ass!” I gasped as the hammer was brought down. Unfortunately, PRINCE Ace was able to dodge my attack as he stepped to the side as if he already expected what I was about to do.

I frowned. How dare he spill the secret that is supposed to be my secret to this secret village and its scared people when I was about to kill him secretly!?

Everyone but him jumped in surprise as the hammer made contact with the ground making a loud sound and sending shocks of vibration to the ground.

At that moment, Ingka appeared out of the hut while holding the pendant. MY pendant! “Good news, brother. Fical is looking well and normal. I guess we can-” Ingka gasped the moment that he saw me. “The evil spirit!” He yelled while looking at me

Ouch. Now that is just mean. “Oops. Bye!” I turned around to the other direction immediately. Before I could run, Ace already grabbed my wrist to stop me from running. “I knew it. Something was wrong with you.” He says.

“Excuse me, you should be thinking that to yourself.”

I looked back at Ingka and narrowed my gaze at him. The Evil spirit wasn’t happy at him either that it manifested itself a bit to hiss at him “Snitches get stitches!” I said before grabbing Ace and headbutting him. He stumbled back while I came to charge at Ingka with outstretched hands, before Nate tackled me to the ground.
