Chapter 38: Chapter 38

I stared at the wooden chalice in my hands as I wiped away the wine from my lips. I turned it around and around as I familiarized and compared it to the chalice in my dream. No doubt about it. This is the one.

I glanced at the princes and arrogantly showed them the chalice with a bright smile on my face. I even pointed at it happily. Ren and Nate both have strange constipated looks while Ace slowly dragged his hand over his face, seemingly frustrated. I cocked my head to the side wondering why they were acting so strange. Upon seeing my reaction, Ren and Nate immediately gave me a slow clap and a thumbs up.

“Wow.”

“Amazing.”

They mouthed.

Why do I feel like it was a sarcastic reaction? They even nudged Ace to join them, but he simply brushed them off.

“Goddess? Is the wine not to your liking?” The chief asked me in concern.

“Well, it’s not like that. It’s just that the body that I am currently possessing is a minor and doesn’t have the right tongue for the drink.” I said.

“GET HER SOME FRUIT JUICE IMMEDIATELY!” The chief screamed at the others and I suddenly reacted by bringing the chalice close to my chest.

“What!? No! I like it. I like it!” No way was I going to hand over the chalice now that it is in my hands. I glanced at the princes for help and waved them goodbye. They must have sensed what I was about to do because their eyes widened and they were furiously shaking their heads at me warningly.

“Rose, no! Not that again.” Nate slapped his face in frustration.

“I’ll drink it. Just put it down!” Ren hissed.

“Well I won’t be the one babysitting her. You can count me out.” Ace said grumpily and started eating.

I looked back at the wine and back at the chief, who was studying me as I held the wooden chalice. Well, I sure do hope that the princes will appreciate all that I do for this mission. I let out a nervous breath as I gulped down all the remaining wine in the cup.

“Well bloody hell.” I heard Nate whisper as soon as I finished all the remaining wine in the cup and lowered it.

My chest started to burn and I was getting dizzy. But all in all. I am fine and nothing happened. I guess I actually have a bit of tolerance to alcohol. I looked at the princes with a shrug of my shoulders. I saw them breathing out a sigh of relief.

What are they worried about?

As the chief took the chalice from me, I looked at the bonfire and suddenly had this strange urge to touch the pretty colors of its flame. “Preeetttyyy.” I slurred and started to get up from my seat and wobbled a bit.

“Goddess?” It was the handsome guy but with a poop for a name. He was immediately at my side and gave me a worried look. Then he suddenly grabbed my wrist. “Goddess, I shall bring you to your tent to rest. Let’s go.”

“Don’t touch her. She is not going anywhere with you.” I looked at the owner of the voice as I squinted my eyes to see better because my vision was getting hazy. When I recognized him, I beamed widely.

“Rennie boy!”

Ren ignored my nickname for him and grabbed the hand that was holding mine. “Hands off if you know what is good for you.”

I blinked and raised my hands in surrender upon hearing the dangerous tone in his voice.

“Not you, Rose! Him!” Ren pointed at Fical.

Fical drew his hand back from Ren and returned his gaze. “Mind your own business, outsider. You don’t have a say in this matter!”

I watched them glaring at each other for a bit before I took that as my cue to leave since the two of them were busy going at each other’s throats. I was wobbling my way as I headed for the big and sparkly bonfire when I suddenly tripped on my feet. A hand suddenly caught me and I looked up to see who it was. As soon as our eyes met, I glanced at him with a lazy grin and tried to grab his fangs.

“I wanna touch them.” I said and reached a finger out to his exposed fang. “Let me touch them.”

“Rose, no. God you really are a handful when you are drunk.” Nate sighed and at the same time a girl came and gave me a worried look.

“Goddess? Are you okay?”

“KA-POW!” I yelled and opened my hands towards her. She let out a horrified scream and dropped to the ground while covering her head. I laughed out loud and clapped my hands merily at her reaction. Nate pinched my cheeks with a frown. He apologized to the girl and carried me over to where they were sitting and sat between me and PRINCE Ace. “Behave or there will be no more desserts for you.”

My eyes widened and I nodded furiously. I sat crossed legs on the mat and placed my palamed together as if I was an angel. Ren took that time to come back and placed a cloth to cover my legs.

“You’re wearing a skirt. Please keep that in mind.” Ren says with a red face.

“At her current state, she doesn’t have a mind.” Ace said as he took a bite out of a chicken leg. I stared at him as he ate, trying to make him uncomfortable with my look since I have to behave or the killjoy vamp will get angry at me again. “What?” He demanded while I continued to stare at him without blinking. “What are you looking at!?” He repeated. I did not answer him as I continued to stare. I saw Ace’s lip twitching as he turned aggressively and tried to grab me. Fortunately for me, Nate was there to stop him. Ace’s hands were only inches away from my face as I laughed at him.

“Again again again!” I yipped in joy as I clapped my hands in delight. This guy is so fun to mess with. Ace was still struggling to grab me so that I could not help but grab his hands in mine and give him a sad and hurtful look. My gesture made him stop and it was the prince’s turn to stare at me.

“What are you-”

“Why do you hate me so much?” I asked sadly and bit my lips to stop myself from crying. Ren and Nate turned to Ace and gave him a non-friendly look. Ren even dared to glare at the PRINCE while Nate crossed his arms over his chest and gave him a disappointed look.

“PRINCE Ace, we know that you two don’t get along but try to understand her at...her current state of mind at the moment.”

I glared at Ren. He is making it sound like I am crazy! I am not crazy!

“I know that! And I don’t necessarily hate her.” Ace mumbled the last sentence. “It’s just that...wait a minute.” Ace said suspiciously and turned to look at my face. I was batting my eyelashes at him sweetly and encouraging him to continue speaking.

“Well?” I questioned. “Go on. Don’t just stop there. Continue!”

“Weren’t you just crying a while ago?”

I let go of Ace’s hands as I thought about it. “And you told me I was a bad actress.” I chuckled and smiled droopily at him. “Look at yoouuUuUu feeling guUUiIiLTy!” I poked his nose and made a ‘boop’ sound and moved back when I saw him reaching out to me again.

“WHY YOU LITTLE!!!” Ace screamed viciously. His hands flew out to me while Ren and Nate tried to hold him back.

I pointed a finger at the elf prince and laughed my head off. Then I turned my head and saw a group of people peacefully eating by the bonfire. Laughing and chatting with each other. I hiccuped as I narrowed my gaze at them. What are they talking about?

I looked back at the princes. Ren and Nate still have their back towards me and it was only Ace who looked at me murderously. I stuck my tongue out at him one last time and blew him a kiss before waving him goodbye as I dizzily made my way to the other group of people.

“COME BACK HERE!” I heard Ace calling out to me in the background.

“HeEeEELllllOOooOO there!” I greeted the people and started to chuckle.

“GODDESS!” They all exclaimed and sat up straight as soon as they saw me. I looked behind me to see who they were talking to. No one was there except for the princes.

I pointed at myself with a raised brow and hiccuped. “You talking to me..?” They all nodded. I am a goddess!? Does that mean I have holy powers!? Oh boy Oh boy!!! This is making me excited that I started to giggle.

“Goddess, we can’t thank you enough for liberating us from the evil vulture. Tell us, what can we do to repay your kindness?” One of the ladies askes.

“You can give me your first born child as an offering.” I said with a straight face. I waited for a few seconds as I absorbed their horrified looks before I threw my head back and laughed like a maniac. “Ahh…” I wheezed and wiped a tear from my eyes. “I’m just kidding. I hate kids. They talk too much and ask too much. I once had to babysit 5 brats and it was a nightmare!”

“YOU STUPID PRINCES! I SAID LET GO!” Ace was still screaming somewhere behind me. That I have to look back. Ace and I locked gazes and I placed a finger to my lips in a hush gesture.

Geez. He is being loud. He really is the type to seek attention, is he?

“Yes we will let go if you calm down and promise not to attack Rose.” Nate says calmly.

“YOU FOOLS! NO ONE IS EVEN WATCHING HER!” At Ace’s words, Nate and Ren finally looked back. Their eyes widened as soon as they saw me missing from my spot. When they saw me, I simply smiled and waved at them.

“Hi!” I said. The princes let out a few curses and scrambled around the table to go after me.

Oh sh*t.

I looked at the crowd once again and yelled. “Let’s play a game of keep out! All you have to do is form a circle around me to keep those guys away.” I pointed at the incoming princes. When the people still didn’t move, I frowned at them, “Don’t make me use my holy powers to curse you and your children and your sister’s uncle’s grandmother’s children! Yeah that’s right. I can do that.” I slurred the words out. Immediately they started to form two circles around me - one bigger circle and one smaller circle inside of the larger on. And with me in the middle while the princes were outside.

“Hi again!” I called out to them from inside the circle. Then I looked at the tribe. “This is a game and whatever you do, you must protect me from them.” I pointed at the princes as I gave out my instructions. All of them nodded eagerly.

“You are delusional if you think that these people can stop me.” Ace says and ducked as he attempted to cross under the hands of two men. Immediately, they closed the gap to prevent him from crossing. Ace frowned at them while I simply laughed.

Ace looked at the other two princes. “Spread out!” He ordered and they dispersed to stand in different angles from the circle.

Uh oh.

“Outer circle move to the left. Inner circle move to the right!” I commanded. The tribe thankfully followed and started rotating the circle. I placed my hands on my hips and puffed my chest proudly as I looked at each of the princes and let out a maniac laugh. But it sounded more like a ‘nyekekekeke’ because I managed to choke on my spit.

Karma I guess.

The princes simply looked at me with a displeased look that I started to do a chicken dance in order to piss off the prince. Unfortunately, some of the tribe got distracted and tripped, temporarily breaking the circle. I stopped dancing and let out a horrified shriek when the prices managed to invade the circle and were now running towards me.I screamed and ran away outside of the circle. “CLOSE IT CLOSE IT!” I commanded. Thankfully, the tribe managed to recover and form the circle once again and trapped the princes inside.

“YouuUuU GuUuyssS ShOUuld ReeAllY TrY F***book and upload this. I bet YOuuU GuuYs will have a lot of lIIkkes and shArres.” With their handsome faces I bet they would get a lot of friend requests without posting anything anyway.

I lazily turned my back and found myself face to face with the bonfire. I beamed and started getting closer to it even though I was wobbling around.

“YOU IDIOT! DON’T YOU DARE!” Someone screamed just as I was in front of the bonfire. I looked back at the princes who were all looking at me fearfully.

“Rose, step away from the fire.” Ren says just as I raised a hand while still looking at them. Then I slowly moved my hand close. “Rose.” Ren warned. “NO.” He said calmly. I paused and pursed my lips as I pondered about whether I should follow him or not. I looked back at the fire and then back at Ren. I hiccuped and moved my hand closer again. Fire is prettier and shiny.

“ROSALIE AMBER STAN!” I stopped moving my hand upon hearing my full name. I looked at Nate fearfully. “Don’t you DARE place your hand in the fire!” He yelled and I was too stunned to see him screaming at me that I withdrew my hand back. “Good.” He says but his eyebrows were still drawn together disapprovingly at me. Ace and Ren looked at him in surprise at his current behaviour. “You are in big trouble young lady! Come here!” He ordered.

“But I don’t want tOoOOoOo!!”

“And I do not care!!” He continued to scold me. “I do not want to hear any more excuses. You will come back here right now after 3!!”

I grumbled and crossed my arms over my chest and stared at the bonfire again. As soon as I did, Nate started yelling again. “ROSALIE!” I flinched at the tone and looked at him with my lips quivering.

Ren tapped Nate’s shoulder. “Try to talk to her a little softer. You’re scaring-”

“Shut up!” Nate snapped at him and flicked his hand away. “You baby her so much that she becomes spoiled. Rosalie, I will start counting. 1!!!” Ace was standing there awkwardly, not knowing what to do since someone took his role in screaming. I hope he won’t start taking Nate’s role and starts flirting as well.

I did not move and grumbly kicked a pebble in anger. Stupid vampire!

“2!”

“3!” I continued for him with a beam and started laughing. “I got you first!”

“ROSALIE!”

“Fiiiiiine.” I whined and kicked the log holding the bonfire in anger before walking towards the princes. I heard a creak and a groan from the logs and I looked back to see the logs wobbling before it collapsed.

I was suddenly tackled to the ground at the same time I heard a large crashing sound and screams of the people were heard everywhere.

I peaked behind Ren’s back to see that the log carrying the bonfire collapsed, but the logs were still burning for a few more minutes before it was gone. As soon as the fire died, fireflies started gathering all around us, giving us light in the absence of the fire.

“ALL HAIL THE GODDESS FOR PROVIDING US WITH THIS BEAUTIFUL SCENE!” Someone yelled and everyone followed him as he cheered.

“ALL HAIL!” I joined in as well.

“Rose, they are referring to you.” Ren says.

“ReeEeEeally?” I asked in disbelief. “You think I am pretty like a goddess?”

“W-Well I always thought that you..” Ren paused. I couldn’t see the look on his face because of the dim lights, but I can only guess that he was blushing. I yawned and started to slump. “Rose? Oh wow you made me say all that and you just fell asleep. Nice.”
