Chapter 36: Chapter 36

Fear hugged her soul, as the street gets eerily silent and darker. She looked both sides but couldn't see a moving traffic talkless of a walking human. One of the perks of being in Abuja, she thought.

Inlieu of the water to reduce to her rescue, it only intensified. Hayfah didn't know what to do other than to cry. Just hours ago, she was wishing death upon herself. And Allah had shown her the result of her answered prayer, so why would she be afraid?

She kept walking on the empty long street, feets getting soar; eyes closing heavily, as her body temperature kept rising tremendously. She felt a damp liquid rolling on her thighs, without checking; she knew she must've stained her abaya and now she would do so to her own body.

Sometimes, just times of difficulties like this, and this kind of things happening to her; she wished she was a guy. She wouldn't have worried about been locked up by your boss until it was 6pm. She would've slapped Kassim back at that instant, she wouldn't have let Adyan go if he were a girl. Many thoughts kept rummaging through her brain, as she felt some filthy eyes scrutinizing her drenched body.

Slowly looking back, she saw she was the only person walking through this heavy rain, on an empty and dark street. She scolded herself for being paranoid and continued walking in higher speed.

The sky was getting darker with each passing minute; and her phone had already died out of battery. She kept walking on the street, with storms and thunders quivering the living daylights out of her. Tears were dripping unstoppably from her eyes, as well as the lower part of her abaya getting more damped and drenched, stains of blood gliding off the fabric and onto the road.

She felt digusted by herself. She hated herself. She feels like a piece of garbage. She feels worthless. She wants nothing more than death. She's tired of everyone amd everything.

Another scaring thunder stormed on the sky, making Hayfah quivered and stomping onto her abaya; falling flatly on the road. She painfully looked up, only for her gaze to meet a group of thugs, it was dark and raining, but she could still see the smoke of cigarette.

Her heart jumped into her throat, she quickly gained back herself and stood up, only to be caught by wrist. She dreadfully turned around and met eyes high on weed, staring lustfully at her.

"Guys, this would be a better dinner for us. It has been long since we dished this kind of dinner," he was scrutinizing her whole body, looking at her face lustfully.

The other guys chorused as they rejoiced. Seeing a very beautiful lady, drenched by the rain was a great luck to them. The head of the thug; called another from behind him and handed Hayfah towards him.

"Take her to there, put on the fire so she could be warm before we dish on her," he grazed his scaled hands on Hayfah's face; whom was doing nothing but crying, silently praying to Allah to save her from them.

The guy forcefully yanked her off the guy's grips and held her tighly and painfully than before. "If you dare scream or think you can get out of here? Then you shall die," he threatened, showing her a sharpy and clear knife.

Hayfah gulped down a lump in her throat; as more tears were streaming down her face. It was all Kassim's fault; if he had let her to go earlier, she wouldn't be in this situation now. She wouldn't be raped by thugs. She would never forgive him her entire life.

A flinged of her body on a sandy and unkept environment brough her out of her reverie. She looked around the so called room and gulped. It was an uncompleted building, dark and dirty; with an unpleasant smile of rotten food and cigarette.

A fire place was placed beside her, she brought out her hands and rubbed them slightly. Crying anguishly, all she wants now is to be out of this world; but before that______she wants to bathe, take off this dirt from her body and see her reason to live. For without him, she would've commited suicide since.

Clatter of glasses, roar of laughters, smokes flaring up; Hayfah surrended and knew they were coming to rape her, and that could mark the end of ger life; for she would surely kill herself after this.

They six guys circled her into a ring, she wailed silently, horrifiedly looking at their figures. The first to go down grazed his hand on her face, licking his lips lustfully. The other four went over and held her both hands and legs so tight that she couldn't get out of their hold. The fifth one went to bring someting she couldn't care to know what.

Adyan walked down the staircases of the plane, their was a wide grin plastered on his face. He inhaled the air of his beloved country and smiled; a satisfied smile. Walking towards the arrivals; he caught a glimpse of Mom's forever beautiful and dashing face.

He quickly claimed his luggage and walked over to them in a haste. He didn't know he had missed them until he saw Mom's teary eyes, Dad's beaming face and Kassim's neutral face_____Adyan literally knew it wouldn't be someone apart from his secretary giving him a very hardtime at work.

"Sorella!!!" He screamed like a teenager and engulfed Mom into a bone crushing hug. Immediately feeling her warmth, Adyan broke into silent tears.

"Would you please release my wife like this? I wonder what bachelorhood had done to you," Dad said from behind, patting Adyan's head, a wide smile on his lips.

"Dad!!!" Adyan cooed through the hallway, hugging Dad tightly; not after clearing his tears.

Adyan felt a striding smack on his nape, he turned with lips pouted and a whining expression. "Sorella," he wanted to complain, their usual.

"Go embrace your brother, and make him feel better. You know, Secretary of a girl," mom hushed the last words for only Adyan's ears.

He chuckled amd threw himself on grimacing Kassim, "I missed you all! It felt so good to feel your warmth all again!" Adyan beamed, but his smile slowly dropped, as his heart pounded for the umpteenth time. His family are here with him, so he shouldn't think it was any of them something bad happened to.

"Let's go son, you must knackered," Mom said and held his wrist; as they all walked out of the airport.

It has began to rain when they reached the parking lot. Hastily, they all entered the car and drove off. Driving around the empty dark streets of Abuja; they came to a well known area hosting the notorious guys in town.

Adyan felt a pain pierce directly through his soul, as a screeching scream of a girl hit his ears. As they moved closer; he could hear her pleas, and she was probably in hot tears.

"Mom! I think someone needs help!" He spoke tensed, looking at the uncompleted buildings, not being able to figure out the one she's in.

Moving closer, they all figured out that it was in the building adjacent to their car, as they could now clearly hear what she is saying.

"Please don't rape me! Won't anybody help?!" Hayfah was screaming at the pitch of her husky voice.

Mom couldn't control her tears, she has to do something to protect the chastity of that girl. She looked at the glum faces of her family and spoke "Can any of you help? I don't want to be raped too; I would've go and save her since. But since you all are men, please help protect her chastity," she was seriously crying and begging them with hands positioned into a begging gesture.

That was what they needed; all their heart were telling them to go and save the girl. And now, seeing Mom's profuse tears, they couldn't wait any longer_____as Adyan and Kassim hopped out of the car, pain and anger evident on their faces; sprinting towards the building.

"Stop touching me! Stop putting your filthy dirty lips on my body! Stop all this!! Won't anyone help!!!" She had been trying to get out of those men's grisp, but couldn't.

At every word she uttered, Adyan felt something piercing through his soul. He needs to be there as soon as possible! She needs to be protected by him!

"You all are heartless! Won't anyone stop him? I wasn't used to people's compassion towards me before. Won't anybody do this for once? Nobody would save me now? You sons of bitches! Get off me and let me go!!!" She was made shut by a striding slap she felt on her right cheek, which was jammed with tears and what not.

Adyan was the first one to enter; seeing a girl's clothe literally ripped off, as a huge man hovered over her_____Adyan couldn't wait any longer. Straightaway, he walked furiously and punched the guys on Hayfah's body, not minding to look at the victim's face.

Hayfah's eyes was shut close since from the slap. She had finally gave up that she would be raped by these heartless people. And that would be the end of her life, for she will surely kill herself. She doesn't have a reason to live.

Kassim entered and went to his brother directly; whom was struggling to fight back those huge six men. Punches were exchanged, as the culprits couldn't wait any longer to tell them they would be dealt with and might probably be reported to the police.

As soon as they released their hold on Hayfah's body, she stood up and limped towards the exit of the building; as she didn't even know she was saved by some strangers.

She stood infront of the exit and looked from left to right, checking to see wether she would be safe if out now. Looking back at the fighting men; Hayfah gulped and sprinted out of the building; crying profusely, heart aching, joints paining, everything pains!

Turning to look at them one more time; was the time Adyan lifted up his face towards her direction to see if she would be safe. His heart hammered, mind stiffening into a hiatus, brain froze______at the sight of her desolated face. She was girl he saved!!!

To blink an eye was could take time to how she swiftly left the building. He tried to yank off all these men from his body but couldn't; so he finally gave in and fought them back: until they got scared and ran out of the building.

Mom saw Hayfah's retreating running figure as she was trying to escape from those monsters. She tried going out of the car to stop her from running; but Dad didn't allowed her, saying it was heavily raining, since she's safe; they should let her be.

They sat and waited for them to come out, Adyan's expression was nothing but sheer anguish, irresistible yearn and pain. They walked over the car and hopped in; Adyan sitting on the drivers sit.

"We need to look for her; Mom. She came out all by herself, she mighy fall into bad hands again," came Adyan's sombre and broken voice; only Mom figured something out of his voice. She knew it meant something.

She told him the direction she saw her moving to, so he ignited the car and drove off with high speed. Tears were silently rolling down his cheeks, as the condition of his heart couldn't be vocalised. What if she got raped before they rescued her? What is she doing in Abuja; that too in an empty dark street when it was heavily raining?!

Hayfah kept running until she couldn't. She has never felt any pain close to this in her entire 22 years of life. This pain felt different, it felt more painful, it was more scary and not worth reminiscing.

She slumped on the ground and drew her legs to her chest, crying like she had never did before. She doesn't even know her way back home. Her phone is dead out of battery. Her heart aches. Her whole body and legs pains.

She was crying profusely, they were tears of sheer anguish, indescribable pain, empathy towards herself, and unimaginable hatred towards Kassim.

A pat on her shoulder jolted her out of her reverie, she screamed so loud and moved back in reflex; her heart nearly stopped beating upon seeing the face she least expected.
