Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Elizabeth sat sprawled on the floor as she managed to recover from the slap she got from one of the masked men.

The leader of the gang walked towards where she sat menacingly. Elizabeth didn't quiver one bit. Let the worst happen. What other bad thing would scare her more than Karen has.

"Where did your boss go?"

Elizabeth looked up at him without fear, "I don't know," she simply said. Elizabeth didn't know she had just touched the tail of a lion. A dangerous one at that. She just infuriated him with her reply.

His chest heaved up and down in rising anger. He pulled Elizabeth's hair with anger and gave out a short evil laughter. "I do not like to be made angry. It can be very dangerous," he said and left hair with force. Elizabeth fell on the ground hitting her head in the process.

"Where the fuxk is your boss?" He asked again, this time with a thunderous voice pulling out his gun and pointing it towards Elizabeth.

Elizabeth couldn't help but shake in fear even when she told herself not to be afraid. Just the sight of the gun pointed at her made her heart jump into her mouth.

"I swear. I don't know. I swear, believe me," Elizabeth answered in fear.

"How can you not know when you are the head housekeeper?" He threw it at her again.

Elizabeth at that point wanted to scream that she wasn't the chief housekeeper but held herself. Maybe if she sacrifice herself, who knows Karen might change for good and stop hating on her that's if she survive it.

"They told me nothing, I swear, please spare our lives…"

"Shut up! Oh, you are even pleading for your lives, not just your own life, you got nerves," the leader said irritatedly.

"Bolly, are you done searching the whole place?"

"No boss, there's a room that they claim to not have the key…"

"Break the damn door!"

Bolly was saying but was cut short by the leader. He left immediately to do as he was told with a slight bow to the leader.

The leader then took a moveable chair from the dining room, approached Clinton and sat close to him. Clinton's hands were still cuffed behind him. He still hasn't shown any form of fear. He was still holding up and was calm while he watched on.

"Take this and make the transfer," he said and dropped a phone before Clinton.

Clinton looked at him in disgust, "untie me then," he said.

"Make any stupid move and you are gone," the leader told him as he ordered for him to be untied.

Clinton scoffed. He knew it was stupid to even think of doing anything stupid. He would have attempted but the people he would need to operate are rather dump and couldn't understand hidden words nor make any move even as security personnel. Besides, they were armed and he wasn't. It would be a huge senseless risk to take.

He did as he was told and was cuffed back.

"If that is all, can you free us and leave," Clinton said.

The leader fixed his eyes on him and said, "Who told you we are leaving you alive?"

No matter how much Clinton had put up a strong and fearless attitude, the sentence surprisingly touched him in a way. He couldn't tell if it was because of how he said it or if it was the real meaning of what he said. He just remained calm.

"Bolly hand me the tools," the leader commanded.

One of the masked men brought to him a suitcase well locked. He opened it and in it were sharp tools of different kinds. Elizabeth couldn't identify all of them but the primary thing she noticed was that every tool there was used primarily to cause pain and torture someone.

She quivered in fear as she sensed what was about to happen. Tears were now beginning to cloud her eyes. She looked at Clinton to see if he had any sort of fear in his eyes. She saw a tiny glint of fear in them but he was doing well to keep it hidden.

The leader took a pistol and handed it over to Karen and unexpectedly ordered her to take a shot at Clinton. Everyone of them froze in shock and fear.

"You have two minutes, you miss and I kill you myself," he added strongly.

Karen's hands shook. Her life and the life of her master, which one does she save. She looked at Clinton who had no readable expression on his face. She was confused and in a tight position but just like any other normal person would do, she decided to save her own life. She shut her eyes tight and pulled the trigger.

There was silence such that at that moment if the lightest of pins fell, it would be heard.

Karen opened her eyes and saw Clinton unmoved before her. She saw no blood nor his eyes closed or even maybe him struggling for his life. He looked well except from the slaps from the masked men that roughened his face.

That was when she realized there actually were no bullets in the gun. She heaved a sigh of relief but felt slightly ashamed of herself. What would Clinton think of her?

The leader smiled. Then he collected the gun from her and right before them, he loaded the gun with bullets.

Everyone of them got afraid. Each prayed within him/her to not be put in such a tight corner. It is now confirmed that there are really bullets in the gun and any trigger would kill whoever it is aimed at.

"You! Come here!"

They all looked up to see Elizabeth being dragged up.

Like Karen, a gun was handed to Elizabeth to shoot Clinton.

Elizabeth held the gun in her hand and continued to stare at Clinton. She was filled with mixed emotions. This looks like the perfect time to end the life of a guy that has tormented her life for long without being questioned or held responsible. The time to watch him suffer and breathe his last.

Elizabeth thought that is exactly how she should feel as she held the gun but instead she felt pity for him. Where the pity came from, she couldn't say.

"You have a minute left! Pull the trigger!" the leader's voice rang.

Elizabeth looked at the gun in her hands and held it tightly ready to pull the trigger.
