Chapter 28: Chapter 28

ELIZABETH'S POV

"Oh my son!" Ms Smith squealed with happiness as she sighted her son. She hurriedly got down from the car and dashed towards him.

"I'm so sorry my son… I'm really sorry for abandoning you… I swear I didn't mean it and I won't do it again… My only son…" she sobbed as she plastered her face in Clinton's chest with tears clouding her eyes but refusing to drop. Mr Smith walked to them and just stood watching. Clinton's face was expressionless; he didn't look angry at his parents for abandoning him nor mad at them nor even happy to see them. He just let his mum cry in his chest, he neither pushed her away nor hugged her back.

"I know you are mad at me, son but I'm sorry and it wasn't really our fault. We are back now never to leave your side okay? I will kill those bastards that did this to you with my bare hands! They have just messed around with a lion's son..."

"How are you, son?" Mr Smith said as he walked further close to them. Both doctor Ken, me, Cole and Hulk, Mr Smith's driver just stood aside and watched the family reunion.

Clinton looked towards the place where he heard his father's voice without saying anything before throwing his face away.

It was obvious Clinton was still angry with his parents even though he spoke to them on video call like I requested. I hope no one comes to bother me again to speak to him again to be nice to his parents. I have already made plans to leave as soon as they come back and I hand over their son to them. I can't even wait for them to employ new maids as I have no such time.

Mr Smith approached Clinton and squeezed his shoulders before heading in. "Let me get to the company, we will talk once I'm back," he had said before leaving.

Ms Smith then helped push Clinton's wheelchair inside. She was still talking, swearing and cursing at the people that rendered his son in the condition that he is.

"Welcome ma'am," I greeted as she drove the wheels past me. She has been lost in the excitement of seeing his son that she forgot that someone actually made it possible.

She stopped in her tracks. I could see the slight shock and disbelief in her eyes. Yes, she might have spoken to me on phone and maybe doubted it but now that she can see me flesh and blood, she would have no other option than to believe that I actually saved his son's ass. She must be wishing it was Karen, her favorite.

"Oh...yeah. Elizabeth Johnson… I am really glad to finally meet you and I must say I am impressed with the bravery you put up that helped save my son's life. Don't worry my husband and I will reward you in triple folds, huh… Let's talk later about this but get my son's schedule to me right now." she blabbered.

Really, that is the proper thanks they should have told me for saving and being with their son all these while when I could have left and no one will stop me. Does she think it is about the money or what? I scoffed at her disgusting attitude as she wheeled her son away. Doctor Ken followed after her briefing her about all that has happened in Clinton's health and the way forward. Clinton remained calm as everything went on. He can't see but at least he could hear.

Once they got into the sitting room, Clinton tried to stand up from the wheelchair to reach his walking stick.

Ms Smith panicked and screamed at the top of her voice,"What are you doing, son! You will hurt yourself. Here,.let me help you…"

Doctor Ken chuckled at the visible horror written in Ms Smith's face. She had no idea that Clinton can walk fine now. Who'd blame her, she wasn't informed beforehand.

"It's okay Ms Smith, he can handle it."

"What? I can't watch anything happen to my son…"

"I am fine, mother," Clinton said for the first time since his parents got back. Ms Smith was slightly taken aback. It is true that doctor Ken told them he will be able to use both his eyes and legs again but with surgery and regular exercise in both cases. How has it happened so fast? To her complete amazement, Clinton stood up unaided from the wheelchair, reached for his walking stick as he knew the exact spot it was kept and sat down on the cushion.

Ms Smith looked from Clinton to doctor Ken and back to Clinton again. Her son can walk now and with a surgery which they will book as soon as doctor Ken says it is okay and he will also see again and then life will return back to normal. How happy can she be at that moment?

Elizabeth came into the sitting room with the report of Clinton's schedule and treatment table.

"We owe it all to Ms Elizabeth here, she has worked tirelessly to help exercise your son's bones and muscles and very soon he won't even have to use a walking stick anymore as his legs would be completely strong and fit to carry his body weight," doctor Ken said with an assuring smile.

"Oh my! I'm so happy for my son. Doctor Ken, why didn't you tell me he made this progress already? I mean it happened so fast…" Ms Smith said, still surprised with what she just heard.

"How about the surgery for his sight, can it be done soon too? I want my son back to himself as soon as possible!"

"Oh yes, about that one…" Doctor Ken started to say but was cut short by Elizabeth who announced to Ms Smith that she brought the things she asked her to bring.

"Oh, drop them there."

Doctor Ken continued after Elizabeth dropped them and left. "I examined him this morning and I am certain that the surgery can be carried out now as long as Clinton is ready for it and the date will be fixed."

"Sure, why not? He is ready. Aren't you ready and want to see the light now, son?" Ms Smith asked, facing Clinton who still was quiet.

"Fix the date doctor Ken," Clinton said after a while.

"Good! You heard him doctor, fix the date and get my son back to his perfect self! I can't wait for you to see me again…" Ms Smith said and started all over to act mushy. Doctor Ken couldn't bear to stand and watch and asked that he be excused as he has plenty of work waiting for him back at the hospital to attend to.

He also promised to get back to them after fixing a date for Clinton's surgery. He further asked Clinton to not stop taking his medication and exercising regularly and as well as eating well too.
