Chapter 15: Chapter 15
Elizabeth swallowed hard after which she left the room saying nothing out but having plenty of words in her mouth.
Doctor Ken heaved out a sigh once Elizabeth was out of the room. He is just being a good family friend and a professional. After he spoke with Mr Smith concerning his difficulties in booking flight tickets. He even had to confirm it himself and truly he saw that flights from the United states of America weren't allowed passage into the country.
He heard the distress in Mr Smith's voice. This is his only son they are talking about. In addition to the troubles he is having already, his wife is making things worse for him with her constant nags. He pitied him.
Now, he pleaded with him to help get trusted able bodied guards for him and a maid in addition to the one already present but it seems Elizabeth has no intentions of staying any longer. He can see it written all over her. But there's no other person that can be trusted in the situation other than her, especially if new guards and housekeepers are to be taken in, she would need to guide them and watch them closely.
Getting good ones that are willing to stay without being forced is a problem but there's still fear that they may be secret spies or some undercover agents. Reason why he has to be careful in choosing them. And they have to be people away from that particular area.
He is still searching and hopes to find it soon. Mr Smith and his wife coming back is something he is not sure of to be very soon and they have practically kept all their hope on him to look after their son until their return.
As much as this is a huge task with it's risks, he couldn't find himself saying no. The family has been good to him and he thought he could use this to return their favour.
He heard the door open and in walked Elizabeth.
"I have prepared a room for you,you can go see it now and have your bath. I dropped a pajamas on the bed just in case you need it." Elizabeth said as she entered the room.
"Thank you, please don't hesitate to call me the moment he opens his eyes," he said and left the room.
Elizabeth nodded slightly and drew out a chair close to the bed where Clinton with which she sat down watching him.
What the doctor said to her kept on ringing in her head. That Mr Smith can't book flight tickets, yes, she read the news but isn't Mr Smith powerful enough to twist things up a little. For his own son. Don't they care if their son is dead or alive. How about Mrs Smith, how is she taking things, is she aware of the danger her son is in and still quiet over there.
Elizabeth has tried to understand things the way they want her to but she couldn't. If they are using her to have hope of their son being in a safe hand, then they must think again because she needs to leave there as soon as possible.
Taking care of him would definitely be out of her job context as she was employed to take care of the house as a housekeeper and not baby sit and adult. To even think, she would be responsible to give him his bath, feed him and all of that bothered her.
Clinton wriggled on the bed, Elizabeth's eyes caught it. She stood up from her chair and watched him more closely waiting to see him open his eyes. Clinton's eyes twitched open the next minute, he struggled to open it fully and even had to shut momentarily again to wave off the sun rays from getting into his eyes as it had been closed for a long time and needed time to adapt to the environment.
"Sir? Can you hear me?" Elizabeth called trying to be sure he really was awake. He rushed out of the room to call the doctor.
"Doctor Ken! Doctor Ken!"
Doctor Ken rushed out of the room with only his pajama pants with the top in his hands. "Is he awake?" he asked hurriedly, lifting his head into the shirt to put it on.
"Yes! He is awake."
Without another word said, Doctor Ken hurried away to Clinton's room and Elizabeth followed closely behind him.
The doctor entered the room and immediately picked his stethoscope. He placed it on Clinton's chest for a while. Clinton's eyes were now partially opened. He then injected a liquid into his veins.
"Elizabeth?" Clinton muttered quietly.
"Thank Goodness! You can speak," Doctor Ken exclaimed happily. "For a moment, I was afraid the drugs affected his ability to speak," he said, facing Elizabeth.
"Why can't I see? Where am I? Is Elizabeth here?" Clinton threw at no one in particular. He tried to sit up from the bed but the doctor held him back to the bed. "You need to stay calm alright, you will be fine…"
"Who are you and where is Elizabeth? Where are my parents?" Clinton threw again, almost screaming, still fighting to sit up.
"I'm Doctor Ken and Elizabeth is here. Elizabeth, please say something."
"Why can't I see clearly? Why are things blurred? What happened to me?"
"I'm here sir," Elizabeth said. That calmed Clinton a little as he lay back on the bed.
"Doctor Ken, what is wrong with me?" He asked after he relaxed back into the bed.
"Nothing is wrong with you, you will be fine.."
"Stop being a fucking doctor to me right now and tell me the damn truth!" Yelled Clinton frustrated as things were getting clearer in his head.
"I have administered drugs to you and I am still watching you. I can only be sure of your condition after tonight. Please be patient and stay strong for yourself."
"What of my parents?" Clinton asked again but this time much slower.
"They are on their way. You need to get some sleep now." Doctor Ken said, gently squeezed his shoulder and left the room.
