Chapter 13: Chapter 13

Mr Smith heaved out muttering 'this is trouble' as his eyes flashed across the room while his head continued to ponder on what to do. His son's life is currently at stake and he needs to do something quickly.

Each time he picks his phone to call someone he remembers, he would drop it back afraid of involving the wrong person that would make matters worse.

He decided to let only Doctor Ken handle things for him, he would provide him with the necessary funds for everything. He should hire top security and maybe just a few maids who would swear to never reveal the activities of their work. They won't be allowed out unnecessarily, only Karen, the particular maid that saved his life would be allowed to handle important things as she has proven to be trustworthy.

It wasn't long before he started to hear knocks on his door again. He needed no one to tell him it was his wife. He sighed tiredly, not ready for her nags again.

"Elvis please open the door, you can't shut me out forever. I need to know how my son is doing too…" Mrs Smith said from the door.

Mr Smith, who knew she wouldn't leave until he opened the door this time stood up and unlocked the door, after which he went and sat back on the bed.

His wife entered afterwards and joined him on the bed. "Elvis I'm tired of the games already, what's happening? Why are we not leaving already?"

"Do you want to talk or you are here to nag?" Mr Smith directed at her with a serious look.

"I want to talk but you are not saying anything, why are you shutting me out? Please tell me something."

"We can't leave…"

"Why? Why can't we leave? Oh, you want me to stay here with you and watch my son die over there. Look Elvis, I don't care whatever project you are embarking on. I want to see my son, I want to leave this place and now!"

"Will you shut your mouth and listen first!" Mr Smith thundered angrily. His voice vibrated in the room frightening Mrs Smith who paused immediately. "You nag too much and don't listen!"

Mrs Smith was mute that instant after she grumbled a little. She waited for her husband to speak but Mr Smith's anger was on the rise at that moment. He would need to calm himself before continuing to talk. Mrs Smith knows this about him, whenever he is angry, he takes his time to calm his nerves before anything else. So she waited impatiently.

"We can't obtain Visa as no flights are allowed into the country at the moment." Mr Smith said after a while.

Mrs Smith couldn't quite process what he just said at first but didn't dare blurt out anything lest she increase her husband's anger the more.

"Why are flights not allowed now?" She asked unbelievably, turning towards her husband. How is that possible and she hasn't heard of it. Besides, wasn't it just a few days ago they arrived here?

"They are trying to rectify the issues of contraband goods that got into the country," Mr Smith explained. "For now you have to put yourself together as things are under control at least for now. Be calm and let me think."

Mrs Smith was mute. To say she was shocked is an understatement as she felt completely helpless, even more than her husband felt when he heard the news. Of all time in the whole year, why must it be now that they will ban the entrance of flight into the country. She can't bear it if anything happens to her son, her only son. No way, they can't possibly be there and let their son die back at home. She looked towards her husband, he is a powerful man and should have other means to get into the country. Even if it is illegal, there has to be another way. There must be.

"What are we going to do? Sit here and let him die? Elvis, you are powerful and should be able to see us through this situation. Why are you suddenly not using your power and money, now that it involves your son, Elvis, your only son. I understand he refused to listen to you following you here but is that why you will shut your eyes and watch him die?" Mrs Smith once again was on the verge of tears as her voice rose to the top. Her emotions were rising faster than anything and it was very unfortunate that she is not one to control herself.

Mr Smith's face was hardening as her voice continued to rise. He was really trying so hard to keep himself in control but Mrs Smith was taking it so far with her nag. It wasn't as if it was affecting just her. The whole thing is actually affecting him even more than he can accept but as a man he has been taught to always keep his emotions and feelings in check and not let it cloud his senses especially when he needs to make tough decisions and in situations like this one.

Crying before a woman is something men of his caliber can't be found doing else the man loses his respect in the society and attracts mockery to himself. He wasn't about to do that to himself. He would handle the situation without having to reveal his emotions to anyone, his wife inclusive. She can wail all she wants but still the whole work is for him to do and he needs to be in a good sanity to be able to take actions and make decisions.

Mrs Smith after screaming for a while stopped uttering words and resulted into silent sobs when she noticed Mr Smith wouldn't budge with her nags and rants.

"We can't risk involving a lot of people in this case for now else things will get messier. I will give Doctor Ken instructions on what to do because before we need to first provide security for Clinton before anything else. And please do not call any of your female friends to inform them of this if you don't want to mess things up for us. Just be calm and do as I have said. I will handle things my way." Mr Smith said and left his wife in the room as she continued to sob muttering incoherent words while she sobbed.
