Chapter 20: Chapter 20

Evelyn saw two middle-aged people sitting limply in front of the room where Sherly was treated. She immediately approached the two of them.

"Are you Sherly's parents?"

"Yes, Sherly is inside ... the doctor is inside examining her."

"I hope she's okay." Evelyn squeezed her own hands.

"Calm down." Malvin calmed down.

"Are you friends?" asked Sherly's mother.

"Yes, we are neighbors," Evelyn answered by pointing at herself and Malvin.

"Do you know the man who was with him?" Asked Sherly's mother enthusiastically.

"I'm sure the man did it." she continued crying.

"Never mind ma'am, calm down a little." Sherly's father said soothingly.

"Sorry, we don't know the man with her," said Evelyn.

Soon the doctor opened the door to the room where Sherly was being treated.

"There was a strong impact on the victim's head. And the victim was bleeding a lot due to sharp objects so that she fainted. We have stitched the wound. Now she is resting, we will excuse me."

The young doctor left them in place after explaining at length. Sherly's father and mother went straight into the room to meet their son. Meanwhile, Evelyn and Malvin followed behind.

"What happened? Mother has said many times, stay away from that man ... you are marrying him instead. "Sherly's mother's voice rose with her broken sobs.

"I'm sorry, mother." Sherly's voice was so weak she could barely be heard.

"Never mind ma'am, don't cry anymore. After this incident, we make sure Sherly is no longer defending the jerk." Sherly's father returned to calm.

Sherly glanced at Evelyn, then Evelyn walked over.

“Are you better?” Asked Evelyn. She saw there were stitches on the woman's forehead.

“Thank you for bringing me here.” Sherly nodded.

"Sorry I didn't mean to interfere with your troubles, but what exactly happened?"

Sherly sighed heavily. "The man refuses to take responsibility for his child."

"What?! "This time the voices of Sherly's mother and father screamed almost simultaneously.

"Are you pregnant?" Asked Sherly's father.

Sherly shed her tears. "He got another woman pregnant, dad."

“What ?!” Sherly's father looked even more surprised and angry.

Sherly's mother tried to hug and calm their daughter. Now Evelyn understood why he was always so rude to her.

Evelyn and Malvin excused themselves to return to the apartment. Evelyn seemed more silent during the trip. Malvin took his hand.

"Are you all right? What are you thinking?"

"I can't stop thinking, there is a man who has the heart to be rude to a woman just because he refuses to take responsibility for his own flesh and blood."

"Indeed the human species is diverse, dear."

"If that happened to you? What would you do?"

Malvin paused for a moment at Evelyn's question. His gaze straight ahead.

"Of course I will take responsibility and marry that woman."

"Even though you are married?"

Malvin fell silent again, "Yes." replied Malvin, barely audible.

"Aren't you afraid of hurting your wife?"

Malvin continued to be silent at Evelyn's question. in his imagination, what if he later married Evelyn and it turned out that Dena was pregnant with her flesh and blood. If he had said he would take responsibility and marry the mother of his child, it would mean that he would really hurt the feelings of Evelyn who had become his wife.

Suddenly everything feels messy Malvin didn't want something he was worried about would happen. He felt very confused and nervous even just imagining it.

Malvin and Evelyn were both silent busy with their own thoughts even until just before bed.

In the morning, Malvin came back to find Evelyn next to him. This time, Malvin didn't panic like before. In his mind, maybe she was shopping at the supermarket downstairs or was chatting with his new friend.

Malvin headed to the bathroom and chose to wash up. He suddenly remembered that Evelyn's new friend Malvin meant yesterday that he had been brought to the hospital.

Hurriedly Malvin finished his bath, put on clothes, and looked for Evelyn out of his room. He saw that breakfast was ready to be served on the table. when he was about to run out of his apartment, he saw a piece of paper on the dining table.

Malvin came over and grabbed the folded paper and immediately read it. Malvin was limp and fell to his seat reading the writing on the paper. He covered his face with his hands. a second later he ran downstairs to his apartment which had previously grabbed his car keys.

Malvin was driving fast, but the traffic jam was really blocking his way. Malvin frantically pressed the horn button and occasionally hit the steering wheel of his car.

Malvin couldn't wait to drive toward Evelyn's apartment. It took an hour to travel which normally takes only fifteen minutes. In the morning, there is always a traffic jam because at the same time many people go to work.

Should be, today is the first day Malvin returned to work enthusiastically after a long holiday due to a broken heart at that time. However, in reality, Malvin returned to panic again.

Arriving at the parking lot where Evelyn's apartment was, Malvin immediately ran up the stairs to Evelyn's apartment. when he arrived, Malvin found a woman who was about to close the apartment door.

“Wait!” Malvin pushed open the door and saw that Evelyn's apartment was empty.

"Where is the owner of this apartment?" Asked Malvin with still panting breath.

"Sorry sir, the owner has moved."

"Where? "

"I don't know, sir." The woman locked the door to Evelyn's apartment and left the place.

Malvin was still busy with his thoughts, his chest heaving and holding back his tears. Malvin rubbed his face roughly, he leaned against the wall, and slumped down.

Malvin's body shook violently. Malvin's tears flowed down his cheeks, he could no longer hold back his tears. His chest was so tight that it seemed like all the happiness he had just found collapsed.

ringing in his mind the handwritten Evelyn he'd found on the dining table. Evelyn even took the time to prepare her favorite food. Really Malvin wasn't ready to lose Evelyn.

Dear Malvin,

Thank you for the love you have given.

Thank you for the opportunity to feel love before the separation.

Sorry if I sound mean and cruel.

But our togetherness is indeed a farewell.

Maybe I should have continued to chase and hold on to you if only the fact that your parents liked me were true.

however, that is not the case.

Sorry, I have to go.

Not leaving you, only apart from you.

Evelyn ♥

Malvin ran back to the house of Evelyn's best friend, Jenifer. But the house is empty because Jenifer is indeed working. Malvin looks for Evelyn at his favorite cafe. the place where Evelyn used to spend time when she was upset. But Malvin still couldn't find him. Malvin sat up and hid his face. He cried again until his shoulders shook.

"Evelyn ... where are you, dear?" he was still crying and didn't know where else to look for her lover.
