Chapter 69: Chapter 69
"Did you cause the explosion at Rose Bar last night?"
Lady Daisy looked into Loren's eyes while leaning her head close to his face, asking in a low voice.
"Why would you think I did it?" Loren asked back without changing his expression.
"Because you got the information the day before, and the next day that place had an incident..." Daisy muttered quietly.
Then, Daisy leaned in closer to Loren and whispered:
"Behind the casinos in the Jadeite Star Domain stand many important figures. They've formed an organization similar to a 'Casino Board of Trustees,' dividing shares and territories for each casino."
"Regardless of whether last night's incident is related to you or not."
"Mr. Loren, I don't advise you to continue destroying other casinos. It's quite dangerous."
"This is Level 7 intelligence. I haven't said anything."
As if the person who just revealed information wasn't her at all.
After hearing Daisy's words, Loren lowered his head and pondered for a moment.
Then he looked up at Lady Daisy sitting properly across from him, who was eating seriously, and asked quite calmly:
"Because if you continue, you'll definitely attract pursuit by high-level superhumans. Even if they don't have evidence, as long as you've appeared there, you'll become their target. They're not the kind of people who need evidence."
Daisy spoke quietly again, though this time she didn't lean toward Loren.
Because this conversation was quite vague, with not many points needing attention. Even if someone nearby overheard a few sentences, it wouldn't matter much.
"I mean, you've broken the rules again. Why?" Loren rephrased his question.
While speaking, Loren pretended he had finished eating, then took out a Federation Coin from his pocket, playing with it in his hand.
The Federation Coin danced between Loren's fingers, occasionally being tossed into the air by him, then caught again with an outstretched hand, like a bored magician...
Daisy, who was eating with her head lowered, glanced up at Loren, pulled a tissue from the dining table, wiped the corner of her mouth, and said calmly:
"I bear you no ill will, Mr. Loren."
The coin fell back into Loren's hand from the air again, boringly.
Loren didn't lower his head to look at the coin, still gazing at Lady Daisy across from him. He chose to feel the coin's orientation with his fingertips.
"Gifts brought by fate usually come with little-known prices, Lady Daisy."
Loren said meaningfully.
Upon hearing Loren's words, Lady Daisy silently sighed in her heart:
As expected of someone from a gray zone like "Decaying Star," their behavioral style holds natural wariness toward everything, as if they've never received kindness from others...
And before Daisy could figure out how to reply to Loren, the raven across from her tilted its head and spoke:
"Adult human female, are you in heat?"
Daisy's face darkened slightly as she silently stood up and began clearing her plate.
After picking up her plate, just before turning to leave, Daisy looked into Loren's eyes and said extremely calmly:
"Some kindness comes without a price. It's different here than on 'Decaying Star,' Mr. Loren."
The coin, seemingly tossed out of boredom, fell again.
Loren nodded gently at Daisy.
"I believe I've received your kindness, Lady Daisy."
Upon hearing Loren's less wary tone, Daisy gave him a gentle smile, then turned and left directly.
Though before leaving, she thoughtfully glanced at the coin continuously rolling between Loren's fingers.
Does it have an effect similar to lie detection? Quite cautious...
Loren frowned, gazing intently at Daisy's departing back, not knowing what he was thinking.
The raven hopped in front of Loren, seeing his furrowed brow.
"Master, what are you thinking about?" Get full chapters from N0velFire.ɴet
"Nothing, stupid bird. Finished eating? We should get going."
Loren didn't answer what he was thinking about, instead urging the other.
"Ah, wait a moment, not yet."
While saying this, the raven hopped over to its pile of half-eaten fresh fruits and began pecking at them voraciously.
The raven barely finished that pile of fresh fruits, leaving the dining table in complete disarray.
One man and one raven walked out of the Interstellar Hunter restaurant, took the elevator to the first-floor lobby.
The moment they stepped out of the elevator, Loren walked directly toward the lobby entrance.
When reaching the middle of the lobby, Loren glanced at the familiar service window.
Inside the window wasn't someone Loren knew, but another unfamiliar receptionist.
Daisy was already off duty. Clearly, her colleague had taken over this service window during the night shift.
Loren withdrew his gaze, calmly walked out of the lobby, heading outside the Interstellar Hunter Association.
Lady Daisy, I hope you don't do unnecessary things. You'll die...
Walking out of the Interstellar Hunter Association's main gate.
Alone, Loren hailed a hovercar by the roadside and got in.
"To Labey Street Casino City."
And the raven had entered its possession state the moment they stepped out of the Association gate.
The Federation at night always requires vigilance.
All sorts of demons and monsters eagerly emerge as night falls.
Like people such as Loren...
The hovercar drove calmly along the road.
Loren leaned back in his seat with his eyes closed, conversing with the raven in his mind.
"Now's the time. Tell me the intelligence about Labey Street Casino City."
Hearing this, the raven's voice slowly sounded in Loren's mind, recounting the intelligence about Labey Street Casino City.
"Master, this time we're going to a large casino, a legal casino operating openly."
"Although it only operates at night, its outward appearance is quite legitimate."
"The casino city has tight security, with excellent internal order."
"The personnel responsible for security are all superhumans hired by the casino city at great expense. Its security level is completely different from that illegal casino you blew up last night."
"The intelligence also says that because this casino's dining and 'special services' are quite outstanding, it attracts a large number of people with high social status, as well as a host of newly wealthy individuals."
"Most of these people are superhumans themselves, and they all bring superhuman bodyguards with them."
"Judging from the above intelligence, I think Master you could consider Lady Daisy's advice."
"Don't always blow up other people's casinos and demand they close for three days. You're being a bit extreme."
At this point, the raven paused before continuing:
"In the Jadeite Star Domain, there are actually quite a few legal and illegal casinos. If one doesn't let you gamble, Master, we can switch to another."
"Also, Master, I suggest you keep a low profile tonight. Don't get kicked out again so quickly."
