Chapter 14: Chapter 14

Loren, having had his fill of fun, appeared at the edge of the energy barrier.

"What a pity these missiles are so cumbersome. Let me teach you a lesson."

Loren plucked a feather from the black wings behind him, transforming it into a black and gold revolver.

Loren continuously pulled the trigger of the revolver. ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ novel✶fire.net

Bullets poured forth.

The fired bullets each met the missiles in the air head-on.

The small explosions caused by these bullets upon impact with the missiles all triggered much larger explosions.

Countless missiles in the air all exploded.

The power was astonishing.

The black wings behind Loren once again enveloped his figure, and he disappeared.

The shockwave from the explosion swept through everything in the air.

Even buildings on the ground were affected, with many collapsing.

Many cries and shouts came from the ground, as the residents of the slums suffered heavy casualties.

"Mr. Adrian, may I understand that in your plan, everyone who saw this mecha today must die?"

Loren's voice came from behind the mecha; he had appeared there again.

There was still no verbal response.

Responding to Loren was only the roar of the mecha's rear thrusters.

The mecha's massive figure instantly disappeared and reappeared behind Loren.

It extended a large mechanical hand, reaching to grab Loren.

With a slight movement of the black wings, he vanished from his position.

"Truly a powerful weapon. Such a large size, yet still so incredibly fast."

Loren appeared behind the mecha once more, sighing with admiration.

The mecha drew a blue energy combat knife from its leg, slashing backward.

The black wings fluttered, and Loren stepped back, evading the wide blade.

The mecha immediately began pursuit, its massive blade accompanied by roaring sounds as it slashed out again and again.

Meanwhile, Loren continuously dodged the mecha's attacks, like a nimble little insect teasing this behemoth.

Each time he dodged, Loren would taunt the other party.

He never tired of it.

"You little insect, why aren't you dead yet!!??"

As time passed, Adrian, who was piloting the mecha, grew increasingly agitated.

His attacks, one after another, were effortlessly defused by his opponent.

Even now, after such a prolonged entanglement, the other party's breathing hadn't even become labored.

"Someone like you! How did you end up on this abandoned resource planet?!"

Adrian's tone was somewhat breaking down.

He had originally planned to use the mecha, this great weapon of mass destruction, to completely eliminate Loren.

Then silence all witnesses and return everything to normal.

But Adrian hadn't expected that even after revealing the mecha, he still couldn't deal with his opponent.

In fact, this mecha wasn't even considered a nuisance to Loren.

"Unfortunately, Mr. Adrian."

"I was born on this abandoned resource planet."

Loren, while continuously dodging the mecha's attacks, still found time to answer the other's question.

"Even if this mecha is an outdated primary version long discarded by the Federation, it should still be overwhelmingly dominant against anyone below the fourth tier."

"And yet you handle it so easily!!"

"How could a forgotten one from this planet have such a high tier? Which primary planet did you really come from?!"

Adrian's tone grew increasingly frantic.

Loren smiled slightly:

"Don't overthink it, sir. I'm just an ordinary, unremarkable third-rank psychic."

Then, as if remembering something, Loren added another sentence.

"I just have pretty good luck, that's all."

After a brief silence.

"Quite cautious, Loren." These words came from inside the mecha.

Loren's words were interpreted by Adrian as a lie, a tactic to play with his mind.

Perhaps only Loren himself would believe such a truth.

"Any other tricks, Adrian?"

"I think I'm getting a bit bored."

"You know how people like me are—we always love the new and grow tired of the old."

The only response to Loren was the roar of the thrusters.

And the mecha's even more ferocious attacks.

While dodging, Loren unconsciously yawned.

He was feeling somewhat bored.

"It seems there are no new tricks. Time to say goodbye to your mecha."

After speaking, Loren's black wings fluttered, and he retreated beyond the mecha's attack range.

After retreating to the edge of the energy barrier.

Loren closed his eyes, subtly sensing the forces around him that he could manipulate.

He snapped his fingers lightly.

Loren softly uttered two words:

A subtle glimmer of light also flashed across the broad black wings behind Loren.

The mecha, which had been pursuing Loren, paused inexplicably in mid-air.

The thrusters on the mecha's back malfunctioned for a moment.

Then, the mecha returned to normal and charged toward Loren again.

Loren shook his head slightly.

"The probing is over."

"As expected, things like mechas are no different from toys to me."

He raised the black and gold revolver in his hand and pulled the trigger.

A completely ordinary bullet shot out.

After flying a certain distance, the bullet's form became invisible.

The bullet exploded on the mecha's rear thruster.

It was a very small explosion.

Theoretically, it shouldn't cause any damage to a Federation super-weapon like the mecha.

Yet, the mecha's figure strangely came to a halt.

Components within the mecha's rear thrusters suddenly malfunctioned due to this small explosion.

Inside the thrusters, sparks flew due to poor connectivity between parts.

A chain reaction occurred.

Tiny sparks began traveling inside the thrusters.

This minor malfunction, under some unknown influence, turned into a major failure.

The mecha's rear thrusters exploded.

Following the thruster explosion, the malfunctioning sparks continued spreading inside the mecha.

Until the energy matrix on the mecha's chest also malfunctioned.

A massive explosion occurred.

Even producing a mushroom cloud.

As the power source of the mecha, the energy matrix contained enormous energy.

Naturally, the explosive energy was also immense.

And this mecha, being at the very center of the explosion, was completely annihilated, leaving no trace behind.

The energy barrier covering the vicinity also disappeared.

Loren gazed quietly at the center of the explosion, lost in thought.

With a gentle flutter of his black wings.

Loren's figure arrived at the center of the explosion.

A bloody, mangled figure lay there, barely alive.

Loren recognized him—it was Adrian.

This spatial psychic, even while at the center of the explosion, had still managed to survive.

"Wh...at...was...that?" Adrian asked with great difficulty.

"With me as the center, all luck in the vicinity is under my arbitrary control."

Loren walked up to the dying Adrian and raised his revolver.

Loren's gun muzzle aimed at his bloody, mangled head.

"Where are the people captured by the Wild Dog Gang?"

"You...really...want to...interrogate...a...dying...man?"

The bullet penetrated Adrian's brain, taking his life.

"You make a fair point."
