Chapter 1650: Chapter 1650
Little Ran stared intently at Qin Feng without saying a word.
Qin Feng gave an awkward smile. "I have absolutely no disrespect toward the Divine Lord. On the contrary, I hold our Divine Lord in the highest regard. After all, since he became the Divine Lord, our civilization has undergone earth-shaking changes."
Ye Guan asked curiously, "Then why don't you believe in the Divine Lord?"
Qin Feng replied seriously, "Because the Divine Lord doesn't need our blind faith. What he needs is for us to actually get things done. Besides, if people overly worship the Divine Lord, they lose themselves.
"They become increasingly dependent on him, and their joys and sorrows start to mirror his. In short, they just become sycophants, flattering and bootlicking... That's definitely not what the Divine Lord wants."
Ye Guan smiled. "And what makes you think so?"
Qin Feng smiled back. "Since taking power, he has never erected a statue of himself. Many of his reforms have limited the powers of officials within the Divine Temples, including his own authority.
"Moreover, he's implemented many policies that benefit the common people. It's clear that he truly wants to help the masses. That's also what I want to do."
Little Ran suddenly said, "It's clear you deeply respect the Divine Lord. But earlier, you said that belief in the Divine Lord is brainwashing. Are you against others worshipping him?"
Qin Feng solemnly remarked, "That was a poor choice of words. I'm not against others believing in the Divine Lord. I'm against blind faith. If the Divine Lord is good, people will naturally believe in him from their hearts.
"But if he's bad, should we still believe in him blindly?"
Little Ran fell silent.
"Personally, I think we should first believe in ourselves. Only when we are righteous and capable can we judge whether a Divine Lord is worth following or not. Newest update provıded by noveⅼfire.net
"If we blindly accept whatever others say, without independent thought, we become like grass floating on water, drifting with the current, never having our own direction. One day, we might die without ever knowing how we died."
Ye Guan nodded with a smile. "That's very true."
Qin Feng looked at Ye Guan seriously and said, "Brother Yang, you speak with wisdom and insight. I can tell you're no ordinary man. I know this may be unlikely, but I still want to invite you again.
"If you choose to stay, I believe we could achieve great things together."
Ye Guan replied, "Thank you for the invitation, but I do have other matters to attend to. Still, I believe there are many promising people here. If you train them and give them a chance, I'm sure they'll shine.
"Just like how the Divine Lord chose you."
Qin Feng thought for a moment and smiled. "You're right."
Ye Guan smiled. "Brother Qin, until we meet again."
Qin Feng clasped his hands in farewell. "Until we meet again."
Ye Guan and Little Ran left.
Watching them leave, Qin Feng sighed softly and murmured, "What a pity."
What he lacked most here was talent, and what he planned to do next would require capable people.
Qin Feng sighed again. "That young man has the bearing of a great leader... what a pity he's not someone I can use. Truly a shame..."
Ye Guan led Little Ran out of Yuan World. On the way, Ye Guan extended his palm, revealing a strand of faith power in his hand.
It was a white strand of faith power. This wasn't from the Guanxuan Universe, but from the Divine Civilization. The faith power from this civilization was becoming purer and more abundant.
Looking at the strand of faith power in his hand, Ye Guan smiled. "It's time to move on."
Just then, Little Ran suddenly turned to him, reluctant. "Brother..."
Ye Guan said, "After I leave, I'll leave behind an avatar at the Divine Continent Residence. It will act as a deterrent to intimidate both outsiders and certain people within the Divine Civilization. As for you, I have a task. Travel across the Divine Continent on my behalf."
Little Ran bowed her head slightly and said nothing.
Ye Guan looked at her and smiled. "It's not like we'll never meet again."
Little Ran whispered, "I know."
Ye Guan said, "The Divine Civilization is just beginning to stabilize, but we can't afford to relax. You've trained for years; now it's time for you to take charge. I believe Sister Sang Mei wants that, too."
At the mention of Sang Mei, tears welled up in Little Ran's eyes. "Brother, I won't let you or Sister Sang Mei down."
"I believe in you." Ye Guan smiled. Then, he glanced at the civilization behind them and left behind an avatar. He then soared into the distant starry skies on his sword.
He had already become invincible in this civilization. Now, just as Sang Mei had said, he had to leave his comfort zone; he had to go suffer. This time, he wasn't afraid of the road ahead like before. When the world was unjust, the sword had to bring justice.
That was the Dao of Invincibility. Either die or become invincible. There was no middle ground.
His aura grew even more terrifying as he took that step, shattering two circles at once to become a Circlebreaker. How come he decided to make a breakthrough when he had refrained from doing so all this time?
The reason was simple; he was not going to let himself be bullied upon his arrival at the Origin Universe.
He was going to be the boss! He was going to be the final boss! He had confidence, as he had grown strong enough to think that way.
Before heading to the Origin Universe, Ye Guan went to find Sang Zhan.
Sang Zhan stood at the entrance of a hall.
Ye Guan was standing beside her.
Sang Zhan said, "You took that step."
Sang Zhan paused and looked at the starry skies. "You've done well."
Over the years, she had been watching the Divine Civilization and saw that it had gone through dramatic changes. Most importantly, he had been restricting the powers of the officials, including himself.
He truly wanted to make the world a better place to live, instead of sacrificing the people to become even stronger.
It turned out that the dragonslayer never wanted to become a dragon.
Ye Guan said, "Miss Sang Zhan, I'll be heading to the Origin Universe. The Divine Civilization is in your hands."
There were only two people he was still worried about—the East Desolate Ruler and the Great Daoist Brush Master. The latter was being suppressed, but his instincts told him the Great Daoist Brush Master had more tricks up his sleeve.
He could not let his guard down. In short, unless he personally twisted the Great Daoist Brush Master's head off of his shoulders, he wouldn't feel at ease at all.
Sang Zhan asked, "You visited me... Do you want to ask something?"
"Your aunt and the others are all in the Origin Universe. Your mother is there, too..." She then turned to look at him. "Are you not planning to visit them when you get there?"
Ye Guan laughed. "Of course, I'm going to visit them. Just because I want to walk my own path doesn't mean I'm cutting ties with my family. No need for that. I'm not that rigid. When I go to the Origin Universe, I'll definitely seek them out. I just wanted to understand more about that place."
Sang Zhan shook her head. "I don't know much either. I've only been to the Universe Battlefield. It's a place to hone your strength. Shepherd and Sickle are there, too..."
She paused again, saying, "You've just had a breakthrough. It would be good to stabilize yourself there first."
"Alright." Ye Guan nodded. Then, he remembered something and said, "There's a girl named Little Ran there. She was chosen by Sang Mei. Lady Sang Zhan..."
"I'll look after her."
Ye Guan nodded. "Miss Sang Zhan, until we meet again."
With that, he hopped onto his sword and disappeared into the cosmic depths.
Sang Zhan watched the stars, lost in thought.
A month later, Ye Guan finally arrived at the Universe Battlefield. Just as Sang Zhan had said, he wanted to fight and test his strength. He wasn't sure just how strong he really was at the moment.
He also wanted to witness the might of the top-tier experts in the strongest universe. All around, powerful beings from many civilizations were heading to the battlefield. From what he could see, most were above the Divine Realm, but none of them were Circlebreakers.
Clearly, even in the Origin Universe, Circlebreakers were rare.
Ye Guan pulled back his thoughts and walked ahead. Not far away, a black-robed youth was collecting fees at a checkpoint. Soon, it was Ye Guan's turn. As he approached, the black-robed youth looked at him and asked, "Are you Ye Guan?"
Ye Guan's face darkened. Damn it... Is someone trying to mess with me?
