Chapter 74: Chapter 74
After the meeting ended, Sienna Quinn kept replaying the words Dominic Lowell had said earlier in her mind. He clearly implied something deeper. So, who exactly had it out for her? Who was deliberately trying to frame her?
And why couldn’t Dominic reveal the reason?
Sienna looked rather distracted, and Sean Carter came over to her, glancing at her with some concern.
"Are you still thinking about Dominic Lowell? That’s his choice; you don’t need to feel guilty."
Sean Carter thought Sienna was frustrated because of his situation.
Sienna shook her head. Dominic’s words had only been heard by her, not even Sean Carter or Axel Yates had caught it.
Jason had given an opportunity, and he had clearly stated that if this time Yates Group and Lawson Group were evenly matched, he would willingly choose Lawson Group, unless the work was better than Lawson Group.
For the past few days, Sienna and the others completely stayed at the company.
Evan Quinn looked at his mom, who had just fallen asleep not long ago, and sighed, feeling a bit heartbroken and helpless.
Danielle Carter stood by his side. For two consecutive days, Sienna had taken the remaining three members of the project team to eat and sleep in the meeting room and had now fallen into a deep sleep.
For these two days, Evan Quinn had also been eating and sleeping at the company, staying closest to Sienna.
"Let’s go, we’re almost late for kindergarten."
Danielle Carter gently rubbed his little head. It was clear that he was now very worried about his mom. Could she really bear this strain?
"Danielle, I want to eat three buns today."
"Why eat so much? Normally, you eat only one bun and feel full." Danielle Carter was a bit stunned.
Evan Quinn suddenly turned, muttering as he walked away, "I can only grow up faster by eating more, then I can take care of Mom so she wouldn’t be so tired."
After sending Evan Quinn to kindergarten, Danielle Carter left.
Upon entering the classroom, Teacher Cole and the others were already setting up the room. Seeing Evan Quinn, Teacher Cole was a bit surprised, "Why are you here so early today? Isn’t there a parent’s meeting in the afternoon? You could come with your parents then."
"I’ve come to help you, Teacher Cole." Evan Quinn tossed down his small backpack, and with his pudgy little hands, quickly came over to help the teacher draw on the blackboard, his small figure drawing smiles from the kindergarten teachers.
Evan Quinn wasn’t about to tell them that he came early just to avoid staying at the company and causing trouble for his mom.
As the time for the afternoon parent’s meeting drew near, Evan Quinn sat on a small stool, clenching his little fists. Would Mom remember today was the parent’s meeting?
He had told her a week ago...
But she was so busy...
Would she really remember?
The parents began trickling in with the little ones, while he sat alone at the door, craning his neck to look around. But after a sweep of the room, Sienna’s figure was nowhere to be seen.
His little body slumped, and his head hung low, filled with desolation and disappointment.
Mom really did forget about the parent’s meeting, just like when she was abroad. Back in France, Uncle Felix often impersonated his parent for meetings.
Sienna had never attended.
"Chloe, why are you sitting here?" Nate tugged on Todd Lowell’s hand, walking into kindergarten, seeing Evan Quinn sitting there alone from afar.
Evan Quinn raised his head, looking at Chloe’s curious little face, and was momentarily stunned before smiling softly, "I’m waiting for Mom."
"Will Aunt Quinn come?" Chloe said, playfully turning her head to glance at Todd Lowell.
"Daddy will be really happy, right?"
Todd Lowell squatted down, gently tapping Chloe’s nose in indulgence, "You little rascal, don’t speak nonsense."
"I’m not talking nonsense. After Daddy saw Aunt Quinn last time, he went home and searched for Aunt Quinn’s information. I saw it all on the computer."
Hearing Chloe’s words, Evan Quinn glanced at Todd Lowell, noticing the latter’s embarrassed look before he hurriedly picked Chloe up and left. If he didn’t act quickly, Chloe would say something more.
But Evan Quinn’s face didn’t look good. Could it be that Uncle Todd liked Mom? Otherwise, why keep watching Mom’s news?
After all, Mom had plenty of admirers, with Uncle Felix ranking first.
Speaking of Felix, he had always been especially nice to Evan Quinn since childhood, often giving Evan Quinn brainwashing whenever Sienna wasn’t around, suggesting what a great thing it would be to have him as his stepdad.
But Evan Quinn never took it seriously, and Felix would say it over and over whenever he had the chance.
Just as the two left, an uninvited guest arrived.
From far away, Evan Quinn saw Nate’s mom leading Nate out of an extravagant car.
Among all the parents who came, it was the best car.
And Nate’s mom was dressed fancily, making Evan Quinn frown, like a feather duster full of feathers—not tasteful, rather quite garish.
Beside them stood a middle-aged man, plump with a blubbery face, looking very nouveau riche, with gold chains all over. In terms of physique, he and Nate’s mom did resemble a couple.
Evan Quinn let out a chuckle; indeed, Nate really was their biological child, practically made from the same mold.
Nate’s mom led Nate inside, immediately spotting Evan Quinn sitting at the door, nudging the man beside her while whispering a few words.
The family of three headed towards Evan Quinn.
"Your parents didn’t come? What about the man who claimed to be your father last time? And what about your elite mom?"
Nate was held by his mom, and the woman looked at Evan Quinn sitting there alone. With her husband by her side today, was she truly afraid of him?
Evan Quinn raised his head, frowning slightly.
"Is this the kid who bullied our son? I wonder what kind of people his parents are that dared bully our son?"
"My mom is Sienna Quinn of the Yates Group, CEO of the France branch." Evan Quinn proudly puffed out his chest. His mom, so excellent, how could she compare to this nouveau riche in front of him?
Nate’s dad hadn’t expected Evan Quinn to talk back.
"Yates Group? Do you know what Yates Group represents? Your mom working there? Even if she works there, she’s just a small employee, how can she compare to me?" ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ novęlfire.net
Seeing the man’s mocking smile, Evan Quinn coldly snorted, "If you don’t believe it, just Google it."
Seeing the little brat’s arrogant look, the man’s temper flared instantly.
He squatted down, grabbing Evan Quinn’s collar and lifting him up.
The little one’s legs kicked furiously in mid-air; being held felt very uncomfortable.
"You’re an adult, yet you’re laying hands on a child?" Evan Quinn glared at Nate’s dad in anger.
The latter coldly snorted, "Your mom is so great, so who’s your dad?"
