Chapter 70: Chapter 70
With his hands resting on his knees, he was panting heavily. He pushed aside the layers of obstructions before his eyes, revealing the face of a man.
Sean Carter, dressed in Sienna Quinn’s clothes, turned his head and looked at the reporters still following behind him. He sighed helplessly, "Sienna, Sienna, did I owe you something in my past life?" More often than not, Sean Carter found himself tackling troublesome matters for Sienna, even having to pose as someone else when needed.
After running another street, Sean Carter finally couldn’t run anymore. He calculated that Sienna must have successfully escaped by now. The exhausted reporters behind him, seeing that "Sienna" had finally stopped running, all shouted loudly at him from behind.
"Haven’t you had enough of chasing me? Going after a big man like me, you guys really outdid yourselves." Sean Carter panted heavily. Discover more novels at novel·fıre·net
The reporters behind him widened their eyes in disbelief, unable to comprehend the scene before them. It was quite an eyesore.
A broad-shouldered adult man, unbelievably wearing a woman’s dress, with thick calves and dark leg hair that made those behind him shudder.
"This... a ruse to lure the tiger away from its lair!"
The crowd instantly realized what was going on. Looking at Sean Carter’s ludicrous demeanor, they shuddered and promptly started dashing back with their equipment.
Sean Carter collapsed weakly on the street, panting heavily.
Thinking back to his ridiculous performance just now made even him feel disgusted.
A man in a little dress, with muscles all over his body and those hefty leg hairs, turned into a surreal spectacle.
Sienna Quinn rode her little scooter straight to the hotel where Jason was. She was in such a hurry that she stopped the e-scooter and ran inside. The most urgent matter now was to find Jason and prevent losing a business deal due to a setup, something that couldn’t happen to her.
Returning to the country was all about securing a partnership for Axel Yates with HR Group. Failing due to such cheap tricks was unacceptable to Sienna! Giving in was simply out of the question.
"Hey, hey, we don’t allow food deliveries here, hurry up and leave now!"
Originally, Sienna was rushing forward, but she paused when stopped by the security guard. She looked down at the delivery uniform she was wearing and finally realized why the security guard had stopped her.
"I just need to go inside for a moment, I’m not a delivery person, I’m here to find someone."
"You’re here to find someone? The people here aren’t ones you can see just like that. Stop making things difficult for us and head back."
Blocked at the door and unable to get in despite her efforts, Sienna had no choice but to wait at the entrance.
The security guard looked at Sienna and, seeing no other choice, let it be.
After waiting for some time, she saw a group of foreigners walking out. She immediately widened her eyes, rushed forward, and stopped Jason from getting into his car.
Jason, startled despite his towering figure, calmed once he recognized Sienna, his eyes blinking with surprise at her outfit: "President Quinn, what’s with your outfit?"
Sienna waved her hands repeatedly, now wasn’t the time for this; the urgent matter was to ensure Jason would not sign the contract with Lawson Group so soon.
"Jason, I have something I want to say to you." Sienna blocked Jason, her demeanor showing she wasn’t going to easily let him leave today.
"I know what you want to say, but I’ve already seen the report from last time. I don’t know the specifics between you all, but when even such a significant business deal can go amiss, irrespective of which company prepared the proposal, you both failed. The inability to safeguard your idea makes me question whether you truly have the capability to partner with HR Group."
Sienna wasn’t surprised by Jason’s words; they fell right within her expectations.
"I know this is a major business deal, essential to both Yates Group and HR Group. That’s why I hope you’ll reconsider, Jason, even just to hear me out."
Jason, seeing Sienna’s ardent gaze, had a subtle change in his expression before finally nodding his agreement.
They had a private conversation for a mere five minutes. After Jason emerged, he instructed his assistant, "Call President Lawson and tell him we won’t be signing the contract just yet."
Sienna’s tense heart finally settled, feeling a great sense of relief.
Nolan Shaw put down his phone and said to Landon Lawson, "President Lawson, Jason’s side canceled the signing, saying they need to reconsider."
Landon Lawson nodded, the atmosphere calm without any disturbance.
"Jason canceled the signing, aren’t you angry?"
Landon turned his head to look at the nearby Nolan Shaw, "Given that we won so ingloriously this time, what face do we have to sign the contract?"
Nolan was momentarily taken aback, then quickly understood what Landon meant, lowering his head: "We’re still investigating this. However, it seems he truly doesn’t know who the other person was."
"Understood, I’ll handle this matter."
The man’s indifferent gaze did not give rise to anger over the lack of an answer. On the contrary, he seemed unbothered by the issue, as if it didn’t hold significance to him.
"Miss Vance has been clamoring to see you."
"Tell her that what I said last time remains non-negotiable." Mentioning Vera Yates, a slight change appeared on Landon Lawson’s otherwise calm face, although it wasn’t a particularly favorable shift.
Nolan was somewhat curious about what had happened to make Landon so upset.
Landon’s gaze remained on the computer screen, refreshing the latest reports on the forum, the news clearly detailing information about Sienna, depicting her as a business spy colluding with Landon Lawson. It even turned Axel Yates into a tragic male lead, evoking a feeling of betrayal.
"Take care of the content on this forum while you’re at it."
Nolan agreed, looking at Landon Lawson with a different expression. Sienna’s return to the country this time altered his feelings towards her, making them different from before.
Although previously avoiding her at all costs, Landon Lawson went to work on the second day of their wedding and didn’t even grant Sienna a romantic honeymoon, showing a level of distaste that couldn’t be exhausted.
However, with Sienna’s return this time, it seemed like their roles had reversed, with Landon persistently chasing after her.
"President Lawson, President Quinn thinks you’re behind what happened. Shouldn’t you explain?"
In the last briefing, Sienna was convinced that Landon was pulling the strings, and such blame should not be his burden to bear.
"You and your wife are still married; if you wish to reconcile, such misunderstandings can’t remain. How about I explain to your wife?"
Nolan looked at Landon with concern as he spoke.
