Chapter 171: Chapter 171

The person who had been questioning earlier snorted and turned his head away, saying nothing more.

As he watched the now-calmed directors, Axel Yates’s shadowy demeanor softened, once again becoming the gentle person he had been.

This instantaneous change in expression made everyone furrow their brows, even Sienna Quinn felt a tremor in her heart; Axel Yates was giving off a strange, unfamiliar vibe.

Although the proposal had passed the review, Sienna Quinn still felt uneasy. This change in Axel Yates was sudden and felt quite peculiar.

Landon Lawson sat in the office, hung up the phone in his hand, and frowned slightly.

Nolan Shaw stood to the side, noticing that Landon Lawson’s complexion had changed after receiving a certain phone call.

"President Lawson..." Nolan Shaw asked tentatively.

Landon Lawson suddenly raised his head, squinting at Nolan Shaw: "Investigate Sienna Quinn."

"Investigate? President Lawson, last time we already looked into Madam’s emotional affairs. During her five years in France, she didn’t have any inappropriate interactions with any men, not even Felix Orwell; that was just a friendly interaction."

Landon Lawson had long since had Nolan Shaw look into these matters. Five years ago, Landon Lawson’s pride wouldn’t allow him to inquire about her affairs.

But five years later, Landon Lawson wanted to know every detail about Sienna Quinn and Evan Quinn over those five years, wishing he could travel back in time to experience those years with them.

Nolan Shaw looked at Landon Lawson with confusion since he had already conveyed this information to him. Why bring it up again suddenly?

Landon Lawson’s brows furrowed tightly as he slowly replied: "Investigate whether she’s followed domestic matters over these five years, including internet browsing data."

"How do we investigate that? That’s quite difficult." Nolan Shaw furrowed his brows, feeling burdened trying to investigate Sienna Quinn’s exploration into domestic matters over the past five years.

Landon Lawson’s frown deepened as he glanced coldly at Nolan Shaw: "Don’t you know any IT experts? Just hack into Sienna Quinn’s computer!"

Landon Lawson suddenly remembered someone.

Evan Quinn was preparing for nap time in kindergarten, and Chloe’s bed was right next to Evan’s, resting there quietly, her eyes watching Evan’s pretty face.

Her smiling features were very well-behaved and adorable.

"Stop staring, it’s nap time." Evan Quinn turned his gaze away, not daring to look into Chloe’s eyes again, fearing he would blush. Yet, his red face betrayed him.

Chloe propped her chin on her hands, showing off a cute row of little white teeth: "Evan, you’re so handsome."

His face, already red, turned even redder.

He muttered to himself: "Girls are such trouble."

Teacher Cole walked in quietly, seeing that Evan Quinn wasn’t asleep yet. He tiptoed inside cautiously, not wanting to disturb the sleeping children, who were hard to lull to sleep.

Evan turned his head to look at Teacher Cole standing beside him, who motioned towards the door: "Your dad’s here to pick you up."

"Pick me up?" Evan was stunned for a moment, realizing it was noon, not the weekend. Did Landon Lawson not need to work, or were all executives so leisurely?

He remembered his mom was always so exhausted from work she couldn’t get out of bed.

Evan got down from his small bed, and Chloe immediately called out: "Evan!"

Her voice was pitiful; she hadn’t been able to play with him for a long time.

Evan walked back over and gently patted her forehead. For some reason, seeing her pretty little face scrunched up, oddly enough, made her even cuter.

"Wait for me to come back, and I’ll play with you. I’ll bring you a present."

"Really?" Chloe looked at Evan in surprise, as he had never spoken so gently before, always thinking girls were troublesome.

Evan nodded once again, turning his head away with embarrassment, avoiding eye contact with Chloe.

Chloe smiled sweetly and nodded lightly: "Okay, I’ll wait for you to come back."

Evan glanced at Landon Lawson standing at the kindergarten entrance, frowning slightly: "Why are you here again? If someone didn’t know better, they’d think you attended kindergarten every day."

"See whom I brought," Landon Lawson ignored Evan’s teasing, pointed to the car, and slowly the window lowered. Evan’s previously disinterested expression suddenly became interested, his bright and intelligent eyes widened.

"Evan, long time no see." Inside sat a man who tenderly spoke to Evan, whose face resembled Landon Lawson by nearly eighty or ninety percent. This child had been beloved since their last meeting; the man often called Landon Lawson, urging him to bring this little one to their company more often, but Landon Lawson never did.

Evan excitedly pushed past Landon Lawson, ran up to the car window, and grinned broadly, "Uncle, what book are you showing me today? I’ve already read all the ones you gave me last time."

The man Evan was facing worked at the largest IT company in town, a place Landon Lawson had taken him to before. Evan loved knowledge in that field, and that day was one of his happiest.

Landon Lawson stood in the back, cold-faced, squinting as he observed Evan’s excited demeanor upon seeing the man, emitting an icy aura that made the man’s body tremble.

Looking at Landon Lawson behind Evan, the man pursed his lips. Since when had Landon Lawson become so jealous? This adorable little one clearly didn’t care for him, yet he received an exceptionally good attitude, which explained why Landon Lawson would be jealous of a child.

Laughing heartily, he said: "President Lawson, it seems your way of handling family matters is problematic."

Landon Lawson snorted coldly, walking over to Evan and lifting him into the car. He said to the man sitting in the back: "Don’t forget the reason I invited you over today."

The man laughed and handed Evan a book: "This is a new IT book I just bought, and it contains a program which I’ll install on your home computer."

Evan turned to talk to the man sitting in the back, his face displaying a smile he’s never shown to Landon Lawson.

He freed a hand to pat Evan’s small head, "Sit properly, don’t look back."

Evan grumbled, pouting, while the man sitting in the back laughed heartily, "President Lawson, I never imagined you could be someone who gets jealous so easily beforehand?"

Landon Lawson stared coldly through the rearview mirror; he was talking way too much today.

"I recall you wanting to secure a batch of the latest equipment." The source of thɪs content is N()velFire.net

"President Lawson, I realize my mistake!" the man immediately conceded, knowing that the equipment was crucial for their company. Tech guys like him had high demands for computer devices; they were highly specialized equipment released abroad and hard to obtain, with very limited stock that typical companies couldn’t get their hands on."
