Chapter 110: Chapter 110
Sienna Quinn was in the conference room, in another discussion.
Danielle Carter went to the kindergarten but couldn’t pick up Evan Quinn. From Teacher Cole, she learned that Evan had already been picked up by Landon Lawson.
Danielle had long suspected the relationship between Landon and Sienna, and she only reported this to Sienna before going back to work.
Sienna, holding her phone, thought it over many times before calling Evan.
"Hello, Mommy!" The sweet, childish voice melted her heart.
"Give the phone to your Daddy!"
After a rustling sound, a somewhat deep voice came through the phone.
"Are you looking for me?"
"Can Chloe stay with you tonight?"
Landon didn’t say much. They hung up, handed the phone back to Evan, then furrowed his brow: "Does your Mommy often work overtime ?"
Evan nodded: "Mommy often works overtime. You can imagine, a woman living abroad alone with a child, how can she make it without working hard?"
Landon was stunned by what Evan said. Have these two really lived all these years? A single mother with a child, living in France and relying on her own abilities, climbing step by step to her current position. Even if others helped, without her own strengths, she couldn’t have convinced everyone.
Throughout this time, how much effort did Sienna really put in? Landon couldn’t even guess.
Evan crossed his arms, looking up at him with his little head: "So all these years, what have you done to help?"
Landon raised his eyebrows, surprised that Evan dared to challenge his authority, and even said he was useless.
But for five years, he really hadn’t contributed anything to this mother and child duo: "I... I didn’t know you existed back then."
"But Mommy existed then!" Evan suddenly widened his eyes, his determined gaze made Landon feel guilty. Sienna was his wife, but what had he done for her?
He had never realized this before, always feeling that Sienna’s sudden departure was a slight against him, a disregard for their marriage. He spent the past five years in resentment.
Despite knowing she was living abroad alone, Landon wanted to see how long Sienna could hold on, thinking she would soon return obediently to be his wife after struggling on her own abroad.
But this woman surprisingly held her ground for five years abroad, thriving and even becoming his competitor.
Five years ago, Landon never thought Sienna would one day stand on equal footing with him. Her avoidance made him feel overlooked, igniting a defiance that unexpectedly fueled his increasing interest in her matters.
"President Lawson! What brings you here unexpectedly?" A middle-aged man approached with a smile, having learned from the secretary that Landon himself had come over. Seeing the child beside him, he was momentarily taken aback, noting they were wearing matching outfits.
Is this... Landon’s child?
Though a hint of doubt flashed in the man’s eyes, he didn’t ask further. In families like Landon’s, having a couple of illegitimate children was commonplace. However, Landon was parading this child so openly, which was quite bold.
"He’s very keen on the IT industry, so I brought him for a visit today," Landon said, pointing to Evan, who stood obediently to the side, his eyes brimming with excitement.
The man looked down at the small child, assuming he simply had dreams about the field.
But ten minutes later, Evan completely overturned his assumption.
Evan stood in the tech department, his big eyes darting around, trailing behind the tech staff, visibly excited. A young person was being scolded by a mentor, looking dejected.
"How could you get such basic things wrong? These are matters you learn in college."
Evan curiously stepped forward, examining the code on the computer screen, and his chubby little hands began to swiftly tap away at the keyboard. This prompted the tech worker, who was initially chastising, to quickly turn around, seeing a four or five-year-old tamper with his computer.
"What are you doing? Whose child is this?" The man huffed, suddenly drawing the entire tech department’s attention with his outcry, making Landon and his companions, who were chatting at the entrance, turn around in unison.
Seeing Evan being reprimanded by his employee, the man began to sweat and was about to bring Evan out, but Landon stopped him.
"President Lawson..."
In truth, Landon wanted to see how capable Evan truly was in this area.
The man was momentarily stunned, genuinely puzzled by Landon’s intentions. Official source is noveⅼfire.net
The tech worker approached in anger. Their computer software and codes were highly significant, and a random touch by this child could ruin their efforts. Especially since it was just a little kid.
Evan withdrew his little hands, standing there adorably, pointing at the computer screen and timidly speaking: "I just felt that a part of the program was incorrect, but I’ve fixed it. You can take a look."
"You fixed it? Don’t joke around. How can such a small child understand professional coding?" The tech worker was clearly skeptical, thinking Evan was joking, given that a college intern couldn’t handle it, yet a child could? He didn’t take it seriously.
But when he checked, it was undeniably accurate. The man’s pupils widened, including the intern who received the scolding, curiously craning his neck.
Looking at the screen, the code was indeed correct.
"This..." Everyone was drawn to this anomaly, eyes gradually filled with astonishment.
The supervisor smacked the intern’s head, growing more displeased: "Even a child can handle this, and you made an error! Didn’t you learn anything in college?"
The intern lowered his head, more curious about how Evan managed to flawlessly complete the code.
The commotion in the tech department was crystal clear to those standing outside, with the man next to Landon, an IT industry boss, filled with shock.
"No wonder President Lawson didn’t let me intervene. This kid really knows his stuff. What a prodigy, with an immeasurable future in this field."
His genuine praise slowly curved Landon’s lips upward. After all, as Landon Lawson’s son, how could he fall short? This level of skill should be expected, shouldn’t it?
