Chapter 102: Chapter 102
Clara Quinn trembled slightly at Sienna Quinn’s words; Sienna’s cold and merciless gaze made her feel ashamed. But as long as she could make Landon Lawson leave her, then none of this mattered.
"You know very well whether there’s anything between you and Axel Yates."
Claire lifted her chin defiantly; now that the words were out, she had to finish what she started.
Landon Lawson grabbed Sienna Quinn, who was about to say something, looked around, and spoke softly, "I originally thought the Quinn Family had good upbringing, after all, they raised an excellent woman like Sienna. But it seems like it really depends on the person." As he said this, he shot a glance at Clara, whose body shuddered violently under his cold gaze.
His words caused Old Mrs. Quinn and the others to change their expressions drastically.
A trace of displeasure flashed in Old Mrs. Quinn’s eyes as she glanced at Amanda Warren, who lowered her head and said tremblingly, "It’s my failure to discipline properly."
"Then teach her well, don’t let her disgrace and humiliate the Quinn Family."
Old Mrs. Quinn’s words carried significant weight in the Quinn Family; even Tom Quinn had to heed her words.
Clara’s pale little face was filled with disbelief; even her mother and grandmother, who usually adored her, didn’t side with her this time.
Amanda Warren walked over and scolded Clara sternly, "What are you still standing here for? Go back to your room and reflect on your mistakes! You, a young girl, how can you utter such filthy words?"
A crisp slap resounded, cutting off the words Clara was about to say.
Clara held her face, stunned, as five finger marks appeared on her fair complexion. Tears flickered in her eyes as she gazed at Amanda Warren in shock.
"Mom, you hit me? You’re hitting me because of that bitch Sienna?"
"A slap is nothing, shut that mouth of yours! Take the young lady upstairs," Amanda Warren ordered the waiting servant with a frown. Her daughter, having no sense of cunning all her life, walked straightforwardly to a fault. If not for her protection, who knows how she might have been schemed against?
But this was her daughter, the one she worked hard for so many years to take over the Quinn Group.
Clara lowered her head and gave Sienna a venomous look as she passed by her.
Sienna gave Clara a cold glance. Five years ago, she might have fallen victim to her, but the present-day Sienna saw that Clara was nowhere near her level, and among those people, Clara was the easiest to deal with—at least her malice was overt.
Evan Quinn rested his hands on Landon Lawson’s neck, watching as Clara was taken away by the servants. He murmured in Landon’s ear, "She’s a bad auntie!"
Sienna shifted her gaze to Amanda Warren, noticing the latter’s hands trembled uncontrollably. Sienna raised an interested eyebrow; sensing Sienna’s gaze, Amanda quickly hid her hands behind her back and forced a smile, "Claire is too willful, you know that too, she’s not a scheming child; her nature is kind-hearted."
Sienna chuckled softly, her gaze suddenly becoming deeper, "Auntie has worked hard. I must introduce you to Actress Vance sometime. It’s a great loss for the entertainment industry if you don’t take up acting."
This Amanda, one must be wary of her!
She, who spoiled Clara since childhood, actually hit her daughter for the first time today; such restraint could not be ignored by Sienna.
Amanda Ward’s mouth twitched a bit, and she gave an awkward smile. Check latest chapters at novel·fıre·net
The soft laughter was noticed only by Sienna and Evan, who were closest. Sienna frowned as she glanced at Landon, who quietly gave her a thumbs up while others were distracted.
It’s always known that Sienna now had a sharp tongue, never sparing anyone when speaking, not even him.
Yet today, he found Sienna so adorable, different from the women he usually saw, so different from her five years ago.
Even Landon himself didn’t know why he was so interested in Sienna upon her return this time; was it curiosity or interest, or...
Every time he saw her, he had the urge to ask why she left inexplicably five years ago, why she insisted on keeping his heart hanging, holding grudges for five years. Seeing her work at Axel Yates’s company and having an inexplicable relationship with Felix Orwell only filled him with more anger.
Wasn’t it good enough to be Mrs. Lawson? Did she have to venture out with their son alone, the more he thought about it, the more jealous he became, tightening his grip on Sienna’s shoulder as if he wanted to meld her into his body.
The pain from her shoulder caused Sienna to frown. She turned to look at Landon, wondering why he suddenly changed.
"What are you doing?" Sienna whispered.
Their eyes met, and Landon’s deep gaze made Sienna pause.
"Nothing, just declaring territory."
The man gave a devilish smile and then turned his gaze to Amanda.
"I usually don’t meddle in other people’s business, but I’m especially protective of my wife and children. This meal ends here."
Landon glanced around indifferently, then pulled Sienna away.
They paused as they turned to leave, Sienna looking back at Old Mrs. Quinn behind her.
"I have something to say to you!"
"Sienna, you are, after all, part of the Quinn Family. For the Quinn Family, you need to make some sacrifices."
Old Mrs. Quinn, with her hands resting on a cane, sat on the sofa and gazed deeply at Sienna. She had thought tonight’s dinner would be a simple conversation, that Sienna would obediently do things for the family benefit, but tonight she realized Sienna was no longer the obedient girl from the past.
"Sacrifice? What kind of sacrifice?"
Sienna smiled lightly.
"The marriage alliance between the Lawson and Quinn families was a good thing, but because of your willful departure, the Quinn Family’s business hasn’t been looking good in recent years. Now that you’ve returned, you’ve done so quietly, letting the outside world say the Quinn Family is not harmonious. Should you alone repeatedly affect the Quinn Family?"
Old Mrs. Quinn spoke expressionlessly, her cloudy eyes flashing with a glint that broke Sienna’s heart.
"Grandma, compared to the family, I mean nothing, right."
"Family interests are above all."
Sienna smiled lightly, knowing she would hear this answer, realizing how insignificant she was compared to the Quinn Group.
"When I needed help from the family, where was the Quinn Family? When there were so many doubts about my parents’ death, where was the Quinn Family? Why should I appear whenever the Quinn Family needs me?"
Sienna’s voice unconsciously grew louder.
