Chapter 118: Chapter 118
"I am a Wind Mage, I’d like to try activating this Rune!" volunteered one of the students. Sometimes, students will go to great lengths just to embarrass you, especially if you’re the type of person who doesn’t want to admit defeat but make up excuses.
The Wind Mage student took the paper and poured Mana into it but it still didn’t activate.
"This thing doesn’t work." said the student after pouring Mana for a long time without any results. At this point, Anita realised that she was completely wrong and Zixin was correct but she just couldn’t accept it. She’d dedicated her whole life to this craft, studied a lot, cut off her friends and family. Now how could she easily accepted the fact that she had wasted the life for nothing. Her sacrifices and dedication were for nothing, how could she accept this?!
"All right, all of you leave the library. If anyone doesn’t leave then I’ll simply expel them from the academy and you can go back to wherever you came from." said the Dean and all the students left without a single one resisting.
"I’m not willing. Isaac, I’m not willing to accept this! How could I accept it?!" said Anita while crying.
"I’ve never been in your situation but I can understand how you feel. Anita, you’ve always been a strong woman who could overcome all adversaries, this one is another adversary that you need to overcome! Fight back and come out on top!" Isaac tried to motivate Anita but it seemed futile but she was his friend so he had to do something and not let darkness consume her.
"Zixin, what exactly do you want in exchange for the Runic Body Legacy?" asked Isaac.
"Something of equal value to it that I don’t already have." Zixin gave a straight answer.
"And what about the basics of Runesmithing, how much would you charge to teach Anita and her disciple?"
"Were Lady Aria’s classes of the Elven Kingdom free or did she have to pay? If the paid then I want double that amount. I would have tripled or quadrupled it if it weren’t for you Dean." said Zixin.
"Anita, how about it? Do you want to learn Runesmithing? Real Runesmithing or do you want to give up on what you’ve always wanted to become?" asked Isaac.
"I...I want to learn Runesmithing."
"Good. Zixin, this is your payment. In exchange for learning Runesmithy under Lady Aria’s tutelage, Anita brought her ink from a Rank 7 Octopus. Those four vials have ink from a Rank 9 Octopus and can be used together with the White Dove Feathers to make a feather pen used for Inscriptions or Rune Writing." explained Isaac.
Zixin accepted the four vials of ink then took out two blank papers and wrote something on both of them.
"Take these. Come back to me once the both of you have memorized them and can pronounce them out loud without suffering from a severe backlash or no backlash at all. If you can memorize one Rune between 1 and 10 years then you have some talent in Runesmith, the shorter the time taken to memorize, the more talent you have. But if you haven’t memorized them even after ten years, give up!" said Zixin and gave the two women papers with Runes of the Four Natural Elements and how to read and say then. The two ladies bowed to Zixin in gratitude.
"Isaac, thank you for what you’ve done for me today, I shall never forget it. Once I’m a real Runesmith, I’ll make you a magic for absolutely free, I promise!" said Anita before taking back her staff and left the academy with her disciple.
"Zixin, I would like to hire you as a lecturer in my academy. Your status and salary will be the same as that of Inner Elders of the academy. What I want you to teach is Languages and it’s up to you which languages you wish to teach. I’ll also have your lecture room ready by today and you can start teaching tomorrow. What do you say?" said Isaac.
"I don’t see a reason to refuse this proposal. Fine, I’ll be a teacher of your academy." said Zixin without even thinking about it, what was there to think about anyways.
Anita and Lillian went to the Mage Tower where they met with the Tower Master, she was the one who’d recruited Anita to be a Runesmith for the Mage Tower. Anita had forged many Mage Staffs for the Tower Mages and all Mages had great respect for her and her craft.
"Anita, how wonderful it is to see you. How was your trip to your old friend Isaac?" asked the Tower Master, a relatively young looking beautiful girl with blond hair. Anita just smiled and shook her head, she didn’t say anything. She took out her Runesmith Medallion and placed them on the table.
"I’m resigning as a Runesmith." said Anita with slight hesitation but then resolved herself to press on forward with unmatched dedication.
"What?! Anita, what happened?! Why are you suddenly resigning?!"
"Because I’m not a Runesmith. I’ve never been a Runesmith, just a fake." answered Anita with a sad smile.
"What do you mean you’re a fake Runesmith?! I’ve seen your work with my own eyes and it’s amazing! Your Runes are written in a perfect and elegant manner, showing how far you’ve gone in this profession. Anita, you’re one of the best 3 Star Runesmiths I know, don’t doubt yourself."
"Hahaha, try telling that to him and you’ll absolutely be embarrassed and scolded. Haa, Sydney, you know a thing or two about Runes right? Can you please write a ’Wind’ Rune for me and activate it." said Anita and Sydney readily agreed. She took out a paper and pen and wrote down the Rune. After she was done, she poured Mana into it to activate it but nothing happened.
Her Rune looked exactly like the one Anita had written at the academy. Seeing that it didn’t activate, Anita giggled and that giggle turned into a loud laughter. Sydney on the other hand kept pouring Mana into the Rune but nothing was happening.
"It won’t activate. Now please write this one down and activate it." Anita took out the ’Wind’ Rune written for her by Zixin. Sydney looked at it carefully then nodded but when it was time to write it down, it seemed to have vanished from her memory.
’WHAT?!’ Sydney inwardly exclaimed and looked at the Rune and memorized it but every time she turned to write it down, it would vanish. Anita also realised that something was wrong, she took the paper and pen and tried to write down the Rune but she too had forgotten it. She tried again and again but nothing changed. It was then that she understood Zixin’s words.
"This is the real Wind Rune, the other one...is gibberish, nonsense, garbage."
"We’ve been duped, the Elven Kingdom taught us nothing but nonsense and called it Runesmithy, hehe."
"But how could that be, let me contact Lady Aria immediately!" Thıs text ıs hosted at 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵⁂𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮⁂𝓷𝓮𝓽
