Chapter 259: Chapter 259

Boo hovered midair, watching Principal Dante and Teacher Alina talk at the front of the class. His little ghostly mouth dropped open in disbelief. Again? He thought, his silver glow flickering impatiently. How long could two tall people talk about boring adult stuff?

He had been waiting since the lunch break bell rang; his gossip was hot, dramatic, and life-changing. But no, the principal had decided that now was the perfect time to discuss "kindergarten performance analysis." Boo blinked, unimpressed. Performance analysis? Boo performs every day, and no one claps.

Dante continued speaking, his voice calm and low as he leaned closer to Alina, pointing at a report. Boo floated higher, trying to peek, but saw only papers. Ugh. Numbers. Ew. His little ghost face scrunched up like a sulking marshmallow.

Then Dante looked at him, expression unreadable. "Why are you still here? Go have lunch."

The words hit Boo like an arrow straight to his ghost heart. Lunch? Did he just... dismiss me?! Boo froze midair, glowing faintly pink with rage. Unbelievable. The betrayal. The disrespect.

Alina covered her mouth, trying not to laugh as Boo dramatically turned away from them, crossing his tiny arms. His whole form drooped like a sad balloon. I was going to tell teacher everything—the secret, the scandal, the truth of the century!

He looked back at them, still deep in conversation. Dante was explaining something about student progress charts. Boo squinted. Charts? Oh yes, let’s discuss charts while Boo’s precious gossip slowly dies. Follow current novels on 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵✦𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖✦𝙣𝙚𝙩

He floated a few circles in frustration, his glow flickering brighter and brighter like a storm light. Fine. Be boring together! Boo will leave. Boo doesn’t care. He floated toward the door, pausing dramatically halfway through the wall, glancing back once.

Alina was smiling at Dante.

Boo’s little ghost heart cracked. Teacher smiles at principal, but not at Boo’s suffering. Betrayal level: 100.

He floated out silently, his tiny shoulders slumped, leaving behind faint silver sparkles that shimmered sadly in the air. Boo will remember this. The next gossip? Boo keeps it to himself. Let the world cry.

Alina finally let out a small laugh, glancing toward the doorway where Boo had vanished. "Oh no... he’s upset," she said softly.

Dante raised an eyebrow, not understanding why he was upset.

"He will live!" Dante said casually.

No, Boo will never live again, Boo thought dramatically from the hallway, pressing his ghostly hand against the wall like a tragic movie hero. Boo’s heart is shattered... twice now.

And then, sighing dramatically, he floated off toward the cafeteria, his entire body language screaming, This betrayal will go down in ghost history.

Alina walked alongside Dante toward the corridor, the quiet echo of their footsteps filling the hall. When they reached the end, she turned to him with a soft smile. "Thank you for visiting, sir," she said politely, but her tone held warmth.

Dante paused, his crimson eyes meeting hers. For a heartbeat, the serious principal seemed softer, more human. "You’ve done well, Alina," he said simply, his deep voice steady yet strangely gentle. Then, to her surprise, he smiled—just a small curve of his lips, but enough to make her heart flutter unexpectedly.

She blinked, smiling back almost shyly. That single smile felt like a quiet approval, a rare acknowledgment that meant more than words. It wasn’t the cold, distant lord she had met on her first day; it was Dante, the man behind the title, and somehow that made her chest feel warm.

After they parted ways, Alina couldn’t stop thinking about that moment. As she made her way to the cafeteria, her mood was unusually light. She met Gabriel there, and they sat together over lunch, chatting about lesson plans and upcoming activities.

But even as she listened, her mind kept drifting back to that faint smile. Did he like my teaching? she wondered, tracing the rim of her glass with her fingertip. He didn’t say much... but he smiled, right? That must mean something... right?

She shook her head quickly, forcing herself to focus on her food, but the warmth on her cheeks refused to fade.

Somewhere deep inside, she couldn’t help but feel that her connection with him had changed, just slightly, but enough to make her heartbeat skip for reasons she didn’t yet understand.

After lunch, Alina decided to leave fifteen minutes early for class since she knew a certain ghost baby was probably still angry with her. And as expected, Boo was alone inside the classroom, floating dramatically in the corner, pretending to sulk.

"Boo!" she called softly.

"Teacher!!" Boo spun toward her, his little face scrunched with the purest form of ghostly heartbreak. He floated closer, looking up at her with those big, wronged eyes. "Why did you bring principal with you? We Babies Squad didn’t like it! Every time you bring principal, he scares us! Okay!!"

"Babies Squad?" Alina repeated, her lips twitching as she tried to keep a straight face.

"Although we wanted to name it Adult Squad," Boo explained seriously, crossing his little arms, "we decided on Babies Squad because we’re small. So we had a meeting during lunch!" He puffed up proudly, his silver glow flickering with emotion. "And we made a new rule. You can’t bring principal without our permission!"

Alina blinked, trying not to laugh. "Your permission?"

"Yes!" Boo said firmly. "Lucien and Sable disagreed, of course, because they like principal! But the rest of us don’t! He’s scary..."

Alina covered her mouth, giggling softly. "So you actually held a meeting about this?"

"Of course," Boo said proudly, floating up and down like an important chairman. "We had snacks too! Luna brought crumbs from the kitchen, Drake was in charge of making noise, and Rocky was our vice-captain because he said aye the loudest!"

Alina couldn’t stop laughing at the image of them holding a secret meeting. "And what about you, Boo? What was your role?"

Boo’s chest puffed up again. "I’m the founder and leader of Babies Squad! I protect teacher from scary principals!"

Alina smiled softly. "Oh really? Then who will protect me from your mischief?"

Boo froze midair, eyes wide, then quickly changed the subject. "Anyway! The squad agreed. You must not bring principal without warning! It makes everyone behave like statues. No fun! No gossip! No chaos! Only silence! Boo hates silence!"

Alina burst into laughter, her shoulders shaking. "Alright, alright, I understand. No more surprise principal visits."

Boo brightened instantly, doing a quick midair twirl in delight. "Promise?"

"Promise," she said, her tone warm.

Satisfied, Boo grinned, his glow turning bright and happy again. He floated closer, poking her shoulder lightly. "Good! Then Babies Squad forgives you!"

Alina laughed softly as Boo zipped around the classroom again, humming proudly to himself like he had just signed a peace treaty.

Watching him dance, she shook her head with a smile. "Oh, Boo... you’re the only ghost in the world who can turn a principal inspection into a full political revolution."
