Chapter 1997: Chapter 1997
She took in the expressions on people’s faces, but not long after the man’s death, the scene before her began to crumble. Her consciousness flickered again, and when she came to, she found herself back at the Cloud Gorge Base, already facing the apocalypse.
As for Li Henian, he still stood ahead.
Seeing Su Sigui regain her clarity so quickly, Tang Ye exhaled a heavy breath. Despite acquiring some of the Nightmare Zombie King’s abilities, he was ultimately not the Zombie King and couldn’t control illusions as precisely as Dairya.
His intention was simple: use the Nightmare Zombie King’s abilities to drag both him and Su Sigui down to the level of ordinary humans. After all, no matter what, compared to Level 9 New Humans, ordinary people were as fragile as tissue paper! This would allow him to quickly end the battle with Su Sigui.
Moreover, within the "illusion," he could weaken Su Sigui to some extent, but his plan ended up failing.
He forgot that in terms of combat, Su Sigui was at least twice as strong as he was. If he were to return to before the Apocalypse and fight with the same physical condition, they might struggle against five opponents without falling behind, but he wasn’t certain about Su Sigui; it would only be more. Although fighting ten at once was a bit exaggerated, he believed Su Sigui could pull it off if the terrain allowed.
An equal situation pulling both sides down to ordinary human levels, he not only couldn’t swiftly resolve the opponent but also risked being killed immediately!
Of course, he could slowly resolve the opponent, but he didn’t have enough time! And maintaining such a scene within the "illusion" was very mentally taxing. Ultimately, he wasn’t a mentally evolved zombie; any slack in concentration would cause the dream to unravel at any moment!
After escaping the illusion, Su Sigui quickly adjusted her mindset, glanced at Tang Ye, furrowing her brows, and slowly stepped into the middle of the scarred road.
Tang Ye’s eyes scanned the surroundings; time kept slipping away, his expression darkening! ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭·𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮·𝙣𝙚𝙩
The sound of gunfire and cannon fire from afar echoed in his ears, and in that instant, Tang Ye finally felt the urge to kill Su Sigui!
He issued a final warning; Su Sigui remained silent, her right-hand clutching a knife gleaming coldly, her attitude unchanged!
Seeing this, Tang Ye stopped speaking; he knew he couldn’t change her mind with words! But he couldn’t afford to wait any longer!
For the first time, he felt the urgency brought on by time!
Whether to meet Ning Yu’er in his original form or to find out why she hid her identity, he couldn’t let Su Sigui block him here!
The gruesome, brown-red long blade scraped the ground, once more moving toward Su Sigui, his feet like tons of hard stone crushing the earth with each step!
Soon, the speed of his steps increased until his figure turned into a blur. The savage, bloody blade swept through the air, projecting a sheet of light like a bolt of lightning, enveloped in intense killing intent, slashing toward Su Sigui!
"Since you wish to die, I’ll grant you!"
In an instant, winds raged, stones flew into the sky where Tang Ye tread. The blade tore through the air, splitting the ground beneath him!
Countless rifts appeared on the ground, soon turning into terrifying chasms, stretching all the way to the defensive zombie wall kilometers away!
In the city, many trapped people looked toward Tang Ye’s location. In this instant, their eyes contained nothing but the chilling light that seemed capable of cleaving the sky!
But it all happened too quickly, like an ephemeral flash of light before people could react, a flood-like storm engulfed everything!
People were instantly lifted and flung away, many losing their lives right at that moment.
The viewpoint returns to Tang Ye; after delivering that slash, everything in front was pushed aside by the storm, yet Su Sigui’s figure was nowhere seen.
Unpaused, his senses heightened to their peak, after the first strike, Tang Ye swiftly turned and swung another strike viciously!
The air moved as if forming legendary blade energy, slicing through wreckage with ease!
He displayed his fastest speed while showcasing immense strength without reserve!
Swift and fierce, each strike followed another!
Should it hit the target, even a mere touch would turn one to pulp!
As the battle endured, Tang Ye’s attacks became increasingly savage, leaving the area in a state of devastation, not a single intact building remained!
Su Sigui skillfully evaded each assault, her movements ghostly around Tang Ye, every lethal swing narrowly missing her, the danger akin to walking on knife edges!
Their entangled combat so fast no one could track their movements. Every failed swing caused destruction Cloud Gorge Base had never faced in any period before!
With Tang Ye thrusting a strike grazing her neck, Su Sigui finally found an opening, her left hand gripping a sword swung toward his face!
Yet in that moment, Tang Ye inexplicably grinned, remaining motionless as the sword hilt struck his face like a heavy hammer!
With a sickening sound, the flesh on his cheek dented, accompanied by the crack of bone. He endured the blow, freeing an arm to seize her slender throat!
Su Sigui’s expression shifted drastically; the instant grip brought immense force from Tang Ye’s hand. Before she could struggle, Tang Ye had her lifted and charged forward, crashing through numerous vehicles in the battle’s aftermath, into a pile of rubble! The rapid motion generated hurricanes peeling layers off the earth in waves!
A thunderous crash followed the horrific impact; the loose debris solidified, and Su Sigui’s back left a dent in the rubble. The sharp pain made her spit blood onto Tang Ye, making his visage more terrifying!
"Do you regret it?" By this point, Tang Ye could easily kill her, yet chose not to.
He had many reasons; he just wanted to incapacitate Su Sigui to complete his task.
But he hadn’t noticed that despite the collision and her severe injury, she still fiercely gripped her sword and knife. Just as Tang Ye prepared to knock her unconscious, he saw her eyes had turned amber!
"Respite..." Tang Ye exclaimed; he had nearly forgotten Su Sigui counted among them, but not through usual ways.
New Humans were still too weak for zombies, while the Respite held better survivability!
