Chapter 1988: Chapter 1988
Xu Haishui was speechless; what Tang Ye said was true. There was no choice but to gamble, but unfortunately, Lady Luck did not favor him.
He wanted to say something, but he had just opened his mouth to utter half a word when he saw Tang Ye raise a hand: "Alright, it seems like you have nothing more to say. So, between you and me, it ends here."
Upon hearing this, Xu Haishui swallowed his words, frowned, and asked, "Are you going to kill me?"
Tang Ye shook his head: "I don’t want to kill you, nor will I do anything to you. Just consider it as repayment for all these years you’ve been with me. You should leave, get out of the Cloud Gorge Base, and don’t return to the Royal Court. Go wherever you want, just don’t appear in front of me."
These words stunned the surrounding zombies. Hu Ji was the first to react, making exaggerated winking gestures at Xu Haishui, but Xu Haishui kept his head down, obscuring his expression. When he looked up again, he saw Hu Ji not far away, persistently hinting that he should leave!
Xu Haishui understood that the other party was acting for his own good.
But he remained unmoved.
How could he simply gamble in a straightforward manner? According to Xu Haishui’s nature, if it was truly a gamble, he’d cheat if he could, and if he couldn’t cheat, he’d make sure he had the confidence to win! If he had neither confidence nor an opportunity to cheat, then at the very least, he had to gain something!
From the very beginning, he never intended to engage in a pure gamble. He did place all his bets on Yi Huangcheng, but no one knew that, with a do-or-die mindset, he had also arranged a backup plan, although this backup wasn’t for himself.
So, how could he possibly leave just like that?
The atmosphere in the living room was particularly oppressive; time ticked by second by second. Suddenly realizing that Xu Haishui had not left, Tang Ye lowered his hands, frowned, and said in a gloomy tone, "Do you really want to leave your life here?"
Xu Haishui shook his head, not knowing if Tang Ye, with his back turned, saw it. He hurriedly said, "I have a request, I want..." but his words were cut off by Tang Ye.
"Request? Don’t you think it’s ridiculous to beg me now? Why didn’t you do it earlier?"
"Get out, leave here. I won’t help you. I’m giving you a count of five, and if you’re not gone, you’ll stay here forever." Tang Ye’s expression was icy, offering no leniency as he began to count down.
Each number came without pause, and as it decreased, the surrounding air grew thicker. A murderous aura emanated from Tang Ye, carrying the intensely terrifying aggression unique to a Zombie King!
"Two!" Just as Tang Ye reached this number, Xu Haishui calmly asked, "Have you ever had family?"
Yet Tang Ye’s countdown didn’t stop; the numbers continued to decrease.
As the word fell, time seemingly stood still; surrounding zombies watching the scene, even without hearts, felt the sensation of their hearts leaping into their throats!
But Tang Ye did not make a move. He turned his head and finally looked at Xu Haishui, asking, "It seems that relative of yours is more important than your life, right?"
Xu Haishui didn’t speak immediately but kneeled directly, stating his sister’s information: "Her name is Xu Mengyun, a Level 7 New Human. Khan has met her; she is the director of the orphanage currently being watched by Zhao Boning. As long as you can let her live in the Royal Court, you can do as you please with me, Xu Haishui!"
Tang Ye licked his lips, recalling that woman he saw that night, which surprised him. He didn’t expect her to be related to Xu Haishui...
Looking at Xu Haishui still kneeling on the ground, Tang Ye had a wry smile, as if laughing out of anger. This guy knew him too well, knowing he wouldn’t really kill him, daring to make such a request at this moment.
But to speak truthfully, Tang Ye didn’t hold too much resentment toward Xu Haishui. What Xu said wasn’t wrong; none of it was intentional. Tang Ye had looked at his body, which was strange, somewhat similar to himself. Each fleshy cell had consciousness, but unlike himself, although his fleshy cells had consciousness, each consciousness was part of him, seamlessly controlled and unified under the dominant consciousness. As long as he didn’t act rashly, the chance of self-betrayal was zero. Content orıginally comes from 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡⚫𝔣𝔦𝔯𝔢⚫𝘯𝘦𝘵
But for Xu Haishui, it was the opposite. Each consciousness in his body had an independent personality, all messily mashed together like an overturned ant nest, throngs of ants clumping together! Just one look was enough to make one’s skin crawl!
The loss of control may have been diluted among so many consciousnesses, right?
To describe it, it was like dividing a palm-sized cake among over a billion people, and in the end, each person’s piece was so small it couldn’t be seen by the naked eye!
What kind of mutation was this?
Tang Ye couldn’t figure it out. Usually, when zombies mutated, it led to a stronger individual, yet Xu Haishui’s condition was rare and detrimental!
Simply put, it was as if Xu Haishui, a Level 8 zombie, was sick!
A bit far-fetched, but this description suited best.
"You want to exchange your life for allowing your sister into the Royal Court. If I kill you in anger, wouldn’t she come to hate me? In the end, aren’t you afraid neither of you will survive?"
Xu Haishui showed no reaction. With the same calm tone, he said, "She won’t, as long as..." At this point, he glanced at the four big ones beside him and continued, "If no one talks, no one will know..."
Upon hearing this, Tang Ye jumped up from the sofa, irritated, and said to Xu Haishui, "Alright, stop pretending in front of me. I can see through your little schemes. Don’t play the victim; even an idiot can see it, right?" Saying this, Tang Ye turned to the four zombies over there.
But those guys exchanged glances, then looked at Tang Ye again, faces looking a bit innocent.
"Boss, what are you talking about?"
"The boss said Xu Haishui was playing the victim (mumbling)."
"Playing shovel? Who’d buy that?"
Seeing those four dimwits puzzled, Tang Ye felt a pang of toothache. For the first time, he doubted that these four brothers evolved without using their brains!
And Xu Haishui, with his head down, might have been secretly laughing.
Even though the four brothers didn’t grasp the situation, they saw Tang Ye wasn’t as aggressive as before, and the atmosphere had eased, allowing them to heave a sigh of relief.
