Chapter 1929: Chapter 1929
In less than a minute, three Level 8 New Human powerhouses from the anti-human organization were killed one by one as if they were mere rats. The last remaining Level 8 New Human was so terrified that he fled frantically after witnessing his final companion die at the hands of the mech, sprinting at full speed through a dense forest of yellowish-brown poplar trees, not daring to slow down even a bit!
The boy controlling the mech quickly caught up from behind, its massive body moving through the dense forest like a bulldozer, crushing or smashing countless giant trees!
Seeing the mech chasing after him, the Level 8 New Human felt panicked, but more was filled with a cold sneer.
"Did you really think controlling a giant iron man made you invincible?" he scoffed inwardly, though from what had happened just now, he knew full well he was no match for that thing!
To deal with this creature, he had no choice but to find his leader!
Others might not know the true strength of the leader of the anti-human organization, but as a veteran member of the organization, he knew very well that their leader, Hatred, had long surpassed Level 8 New Humans and was a genuine Level 9 Rester!
Because of this, he didn’t believe that no matter how powerful that big guy was, it could outmatch a Level 9 terrifying existence.
With that in mind, he sped up his pace again, moving at high speed and leaving patches of afterimages in the forest, ghost-like!
He used the fastest speed of his life to flee, not daring to look back, while the boy chasing him behind slowly lightened his steps upon noticing the guy running farther and farther away, and eventually stopped. The surrounding terrain was complex, and his large body made it difficult to navigate. The Level 8 New Human, less than six feet tall, quickly disappeared into the woods.
Time was of the essence, and the boy knew he had to accomplish more within limited time, so without lingering, he turned back toward the direction of the radiation zombie horde.
Meanwhile, the Level 8 New Human did not realize the boy had stopped pursuing him, too focused on fleeing with his life to look back. Soon, he reached a small villa directly pierced by a large tree in the distance, where on the steps of the villa’s entrance, Chen Chaoyang sat, meticulously polishing a bone knife with a piece of gauze.
The handle of the bone knife, polished over time, had become extremely smooth, faintly reflective.
On the flat ground in front of Chen Chaoyang, numerous tires were neatly arranged, with a person lying belly-down on each tire, their bare upper bodies revealing scar-riddled backs. Beside them, another person wielded a whip striking the ones on the tires, the whip hitting bodies with a sharp crack, sending blood and flesh splattering, with a sound that made one’s teeth chatter.
This was training for the anti-human organization, a process every member had to endure. They bore the physical pain through countless scars, becoming accustomed to pain, eventually fearing no pain!
This was also why the battles of the anti-human organization were often so maddened.
Spotting Chen Chaoyang instantly brought relief to the fleeing Level 8 New Human, fortunately, the leader was still here. Although he would surely face inhuman torture later for choosing to flee, right now, survival was more important than anything!
He hastened his pace again, rushing to Chen Chaoyang, immediately kneeling upon arrival and shouting, "Leader, something bad has happened!"
Engaged in sanding the knife handle, Chen Chaoyang paused upon hearing his words, raising his head to gaze coldly at him without speaking. The other, frightened by the glance, instantly dropped his head, trembling.
"Why are you back?" Chen Chaoyang inquired with a deep tone. Without concealing anything, the other quickly recounted everything that had just occurred. Once finished, Chen Chaoyang glanced in the direction from which the man came, where there was no sign of activity...
It was only then that the Level 8 New Human realized the big guy chasing him had stopped at some point.
He turned pale, wishing he could slap himself. He should have noticed earlier! But it was too late to react now...
Chen Chaoyang looked at him, saying nothing. The waiting made the Level 8 New Human internally anxious, yet he didn’t dare to ask. Fortunately, after a short while, Chen Chaoyang finally spoke: "Besides others, is it just you and Zhuo Kun alive?"
"Are the other three dead?"
"...Yes..." The Level 8 New Human, fleeing here, had almost buried his head in the dirt, feeling increasingly uneasy with Chen Chaoyang’s questioning, especially the other’s silence, which was terrifying!
By now, Chen Chaoyang’s expression had turned so gloomy it seemed water might drip from it. He had received news about the Endless Journey before this fellow arrived. At the time, he hadn’t taken it seriously, for despite the might of that mech, there was still a genuine Zombie King within the Mengjiao base that could tear a mech apart for fun.
Yet this contraption had promptly eliminated three Level 8 New Humans under his command. Presumably, Zhanku’s minions fared poorly against the mech. But why would the mech target Zhuo Kun’s group?
They hadn’t been part of the battle, tasked merely with preventing military reinforcements from other bases and blocking the escape routes for survivors within the Mengjiao base. They generally did not engage in battle unless necessary, and there was not even a Level 8 New Human left to sit idly at the Mengjiao base. Why use a sledgehammer to crack a nut?
It was undoubtedly something Ryle was behind. Knowing Ryle well, this Radiation Zombie King was a playful soul, doing everything merely to satisfy his perverted pleasure.
Chen Chaoyang couldn’t figure out Ryle’s intent; it seemed as if he was forcing his hand, yet Chen Chaoyang didn’t want to act as he wished. But if he didn’t act, and let the mech continue its antics, wouldn’t he, the "victor," gain nothing after the Mengjiao base repelled the zombie horde?
Chen Chaoyang might hate humans, but he didn’t want Ryle to gain anything from humans either! Ideally, nothing at all!
If asked what Chen Chaoyang most hoped for, it might be the destruction of the world, perhaps? This update ıs available on 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡✶𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚✶𝙣𝙚𝙩
...But who knew indeed?
