Chapter 302: Chapter 302

"Ms. Spencer!" a staff member tentatively began. "Why were you out there so late at night?"

Going to a remote riverside alone late at night was hardly something a superstar should be doing.

"I..." Irene Spencer drew in a breath, then furrowed her brows. "Don’t ask about that. Just find a positive spin for this incident, and don’t pry into anything else."

Due to the closed beta testing of a new game, Kris Cooper stayed at Glimmer all night instead of returning to his family home to rest.

Early in the morning, Vera Wave woke up and rushed to the office.

As soon as she entered the Planning Department, Wang Xiaoya hurried into her office. Vera gave Wang Xiaoya a cheeky grin and handed her a dessert she had brought from home. Updates are released by noveⅼfire.net

"Here... this is for you. I’ll treat you to a good meal tonight!"

Wang Xiaoya’s plump face was etched with worry. She closed the door, moved closer to Vera, her expression pale and apprehensive.

"Vera, this time... we’ve gone too far!" she blurted out.

Seeing her troubled expression, Vera asked in confusion, "What do you mean?"

"See for yourself!" Wang Xiaoya handed over her phone. Vera, puzzled, took it. When she saw the headline news on the screen, she jumped. "How did this end up in the news?"

The two of them had been near the incident site last night. They watched the fans take action, shared a secret laugh about it, and then quickly slipped away to their respective homes.

Vera hadn’t expected things to escalate this much, not to the point of making the news.

Her goal had simply been to give Irene a taste of her own medicine, to let Irene’s own fans rough her up a bit as a warning. She never intended for it to blow up .

Scrolling through the news on the screen, Vera began to feel a knot of worry.

"So... is there any news from your Twitter Group?"

"The Twitter Group was disbanded last night."

Initially, those fans had been gleefully posting on the forum about their actions. Later, when the news broke, they realized they had attacked the wrong person—it wasn’t Vera, but their own idol.

The group of young girls was terrified. The group admin immediately disbanded the Twitter Group, and even the once-active Irene Spencer’s Fan Forum fell silent, its members disappearing one by one.

"Vera!" Wang Xiaoya clutched Vera’s arm, her voice full of anxiety. "The police won’t trace this back to me and arrest me, will they?"

Vera looked up from the phone screen and offered her a reassuring smile.

"If anyone gets arrested, it’ll be me, not you. Why would they arrest you? I was the one behind it!"

"Vera, I... I don’t want you to get arrested either!" Wang Xiaoya said, her voice trembling.

"Stay off that Twitter account for now. If anyone investigates you, just say I was using your account and that you don’t know anything else."

Wang Xiaoya had only acted to help her; of course, Vera couldn’t throw her friend under the bus.

She would take full responsibility for her actions. If the police really came, she was prepared to face it herself.

Seeing Wang Xiaoya still looking utterly dejected, Vera smiled and patted her shoulder.

"It’s fine. At worst, I’ll just be detained for a few days. You’ll have to remember to bring me food then."

She was teasing, but Wang Xiaoya turned pale with fright.

"You mean... you’ll go to jail?"

Vera gave a faint, nonchalant smile. "No worries. It’s actually pretty decent in there."

When her family had gone bankrupt, she’d even been taken in for questioning. At worst, she’d just go back in for a few days; it wasn’t a big deal.
