Chapter 439: Chapter 439
So, from the very beginning, the tycoon had stated that the entire Rhein Manor was a gift to them. However, it was a gift meant to accompany them on Huangquan Road. He intended to kill everyone from the start, including his own "corpse." Not destroying the body and eliminating all traces would mean waiting for specialized personnel to inspect and discover the discrepancies. The best method is to destroy all evidence, he must have thought.
A tycoon who would go to such lengths to fake his own death, and who was so desperate for others to believe it, must have encountered immense trouble himself.
But the immediate problem for Jing Shu and the others was the robot’s announcement: Rhein Manor had initiated its self-destruct sequence. Just how powerful will this explosion be? Jing Shu wondered.
Monkey said anxiously, "Run! Hurry and get Snake Spirit to drive over and pick us up!"
"Locking all floors. Closing all passageways. Sealing all exits," the robot intoned.
"What do we do? We can’t get down?"
In the blink of an eye, Jing Shu had swept everything, large and small, from the secret room into her Magic Cube. There was no time for a closer look. Hearing that all exits were sealed, she punched the robot, sending it flying.
Just as she suspected, they were trapped on the eighth floor of the high tower. Unable to go up or down, they were stuck on this level with all exits sealed! There were no windows up here at all. With all exits closed, even jumping was impossible. They might as well prepare to die, she thought grimly. For more chapters visıt 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭·𝔣𝔦𝔯𝔢·𝗇𝗲𝘵
"What do we do? What do we do?"
Yang Yang quickly posted their current situation in the group chat, telling the others to evacuate first. He asked Snake Spirit to be ready for a pickup and told Lingling to request immediate support. The formula is in hand, but now we have no way to get out alive!
Although Yang Yang had sent out a distress call, they still had to find their own way to escape. As the BEEP BEEP BEEP grew more urgent, everyone felt as if their lives were being roasted over a fire.
Jing Shu furrowed her brow. She could use a weapon port to place explosives outside in mid-air. This would blast a huge hole in the tower’s special material, enclosed structure. That way, they could jump down. Although the eighth floor is a bit high... I still have a parachute or something similar, she considered.
The only question is, how long until this countdown bomb explodes?
"The longer the delay before detonation, the more powerful the bomb," Yang Yang explained to everyone. "It’s like a controlled demolition; he must have planted explosives in many locations. If he truly intends to blow up the entire Rhein Manor, we still have some time to escape. Dozens of seconds have passed without an explosion. This means he’s not just trying to eliminate us ’murderers.’ After all, Rhein Manor has many secrets it wants to keep hidden. If it were me, I’d also plant more explosives to ensure the whole manor is reduced to rubble. As for whether we can escape... heh."
"But if we don’t get out of this tower soon, we’re done for!"
Monkey, agitated, went up and shook the robot violently. "Mirror, don’t you have a weapon chip? Can’t you control it? Can you tamper with the program?"
Jing Shu shook her head. Just as she stepped forward, ready to blast a hole through one of the walls from the outside, Hao Yunlai suddenly knelt, clutching his head in extreme pain.
"Danger... very dangerous..."
Suddenly, Hao Yunlai screamed.
"What’s going on?" Jing Shu was somewhat stunned. It... couldn’t be, could it?
But that seems unlikely, doesn’t it? Jing Shu mused. She knew some people were born with incredible luck. She had witnessed Hao Yunlai’s luck before in the Underwater World. How to describe it... He seems to influence the luck in his vicinity, or perhaps makes the luck of all nearby creatures extremely poor, thereby allowing himself to escape disaster.
But what is this situation? There’s no external interference. Instead, we’re trapped on the eighth floor, about to face an explosion—not just a small one, but potentially the entire Rhein Manor. Hypothetically, could Hao Yunlai actually prevent the entire Rhein Manor from exploding? Given its sheer size, surely his luck isn’t *that* heaven-defying, is it?
At a time , I can’t rely on anyone else, Jing Shu resolved. It’s safest to keep control in my own hands.
"I have a way!" Jing Shu couldn’t afford to hold back; they needed to leave immediately. But no sooner had she spoken than the entire earth suddenly quaked. The tower shook violently, and Jing Shu was slammed against a wall. Fortunately, she was wearing her thickest clothing and a helmet, so although she was hit, she was actually quite all right.
"It’s an earthquake!"
"Quick, grab onto something! The tower is going to collapse!"
Panicked, Jing Shu quickly added more thick layers of clothing. She was still trying to find something to secure herself when the entire tower collapsed!
Amidst the chaos, Jing Shu heard Hao Yunlai’s faint voice, "Mom, it’s you this time. It seems I really have to go down and meet you."
Huh? Is Hao Yunlai sleep-talking? Jing Shu wondered.
BOOM! A deafening crash. Jing Shu’s entire body ached, and her head throbbed as if it would split. How tall is an eight-story tower? Jumping down without protection would surely be fatal.
But Jing Shu’s situation was even more dire. The entire tower had come crashing down, causing the room they were in to crack apart, with steel bars and rubble flying everywhere. It was almost as bad as jumping from an eight-story building.
Jing Shu had luckily taken cover in a corner and, miraculously, was not seriously injured. Also miraculously unharmed were Yang Yang and Hao Yunlai. Monkey, however, wasn’t so fortunate. Half his body was crushed under the rubble, his legs nearly useless. Jing Shu hauled him up. Monkey’s agonized screams made her ears ring.
Jing Shu looked up at the broken tower. So that’s why we weren’t too badly injured, she realized.
Who would believe it? A tower of such height had snapped in the middle. Miraculously, the lower and upper sections acted as buffers, sandwiching the eighth floor right in the center. This spared them from the worst of the impact, preventing Jing Shu and her group from being crushed to death.
If this was due to Hao Yunlai’s bizarre luck, then that’s truly terrifying!
Hao Yunlai had fainted completely again. Yang Yang, coughing, got to his feet and looked up at the sky. A rumbling sound approached—it was a helicopter. The national rescue team had arrived!
A ladder was lowered. They just needed to climb up to escape. They had to hurry! Rhein Manor could explode at any moment!
"BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP..." From a corner, the robot, pinned under debris, still managed to emit a faint sound.
While the others were distracted, Jing Shu swiftly stored the robot in her Magic Cube Space. If it’s going to explode, let it explode in there, she thought. However, once inside the Magic Cube Space, it stopped moving completely, as if it had jammed.
Perhaps this robot is the only way to contact that tycoon, Jing Shu mused. In that case, it absolutely must stay in the Magic Cube Space.
Regardless, since the tycoon gave me such a huge ’gift,’ I’ll definitely have to return the favor someday—with something even bigger, she vowed.
