Chapter 411: Chapter 411
Eating cells magnified hundreds of times would be like eating sawdust. Most importantly, the nutritional content of the enlarged food remains identical to that of its original size.
In other words, consuming this enlarged matter meant ingesting unknown hormones and chemical solutions, which offered no benefits to the body and could, in fact, damage it.
So, if it were true, what Dr. Bo had researched was phenomenal. It essentially doubled all materials and nutrients. How could it not be impressive? Even the gigantification technology two years in the future wouldn’t be able to achieve this.
After several long hours of experiments and evaluations, these substances finally stabilized, gradually ceasing to change.
"Now, aside from these insignificant little Seeds that are still dividing and evolving cells, all other food and minerals have stopped cell division. So, let’s use more scientific data to examine these materials and see how much more potent they are compared to those untreated with the Water of Life!"
This part of the demonstration had been arranged in advance, and the data, naturally, had been calculated beforehand.
As Dr. Bo excitedly announced the data for each item, the farmers were genuinely green with envy.
"The total cell count in the corn kernels increased by 60%! The strawberries not only divided to become larger, but even their Seeds grew bigger, meaning the next generation will be even more exceptional! And let’s look at these minerals—see this? It allows for double the extractables! From now on, the same quality of ore, after being treated with the Water of Life, can yield twice the output!" Dr. Bo was quite excited, his nose red from the cold.
Dr. Bo then brought all the experimental materials out from the laboratory again, displaying them for everyone to inspect.
Jing Shu gazed at her two dramatically transformed medicinal herbs with feigned disbelief, looking utterly ’astonished.’ "Heavens! Not only has the amount of herbs doubled, but even the planting Seeds have doubled! Alright, Doctor, I still don’t quite believe you. I want to go inside and see for myself if you’re cheating."
Ms. C pulled out her gun and said angrily, "Enough! The Doctor doesn’t need your trust. This is our secret base; outsiders are not normally allowed in."
Jing Shu raised an eyebrow and said arrogantly, "What, feeling guilty? Afraid to let me verify it?"
Dr. Bo smiled and waved his hand dismissively. In a tone as if he were God, he said, "Let her go take a look. What could someone who doesn’t even understand English possibly comprehend in there?"
This elicited loud laughter from the farmers.
Jing Shu had said and done what the farmers wanted to say and do. What else could they do but let her proceed?
So, Jing Shu went inside. She checked the microscopes, even gave everyone a demonstration, examined various instruments, and searched every conceivable hiding place to prove that the materials hadn’t been prepared in advance or swapped out.
Finally, frowning as if still reluctant to admit she had lost the bet, she asked the farmers, "Do you have any other testing methods? Let’s expose this fraudster!"
Dr. Bo smiled and tilted his head up, revealing his signature Holy Mother smile, looking magnanimous as if he wouldn’t hold a grudge against her.
"How about I use this salt for another test?" Jing Shu suggested. "It’s also a carbohydrate and has living cells, right? So, it should work with the Water of Life too, shouldn’t it?"
A seasoned shill must learn to set their own pace, to feign being proven wrong, and to excite everyone into eagerly jumping into the trap they set.
But just then, one of the farmers interjected, "Salt isn’t valuable; there’s plenty of it in the castle. How about this? I have a habit of drinking coffee and happen to have a small, 10-gram packet of sugar with me. This stuff is really valuable nowadays. If we could get more of it, that would be a real windfall!" As he spoke, he took out the small packet of sugar and tore it open. "If you can make this sugar double right before our very eyes, it will prove Dr. Bo’s research is truly a success! Since you, Doctor, require resources and remuneration, I imagine you won’t be short of them. I would have a large quantity of resources for you to enhance with the Water of Life!"
The atmosphere suddenly tensed. Secretly, a few individuals exchanged glances; this deviation was not in their script.
The original script called for Jing Shu to produce salt for the test. After all, making fine salt appear like coarse salt by increasing its granularity and adding a bit more volume could easily create the illusion of a small pinch becoming a large handful. Besides, who would unknowingly carry testing materials with them? They hadn’t expected someone to actually have sugar on hand.
Considering the farmers’ cautious nature—they’d break open a corn kernel to taste it and inspect strawberry seeds—a single lick would be enough to expose the deception if they tested the sugar!
Ms. C frowned and drew her gun again. "What’s with all this nonsense? How dare you question the Doctor’s results? Are you deliberately trying to stir up trouble? After all the experiments we’ve just conducted, do you have any idea how many resources were wasted?"
Jing Shu understood that Ms. C was deliberately trying to get them to drop this particular test.
Dr. Bo also smiled faintly without speaking, apparently contemplating his next move.
"No, no, we trust Dr. Bo implicitly, but..." the farmer shrugged.
Jing Shu discreetly observed the situation. Seeing one or two farmers frown covertly, she knew that if this wasn’t handled thoroughly, doubts would linger. So, she stepped forward, siding with the farmers, and said, "This gentleman is right. We absolutely should test this sugar on the spot. Without witnessing such miraculous technology with our own eyes, it’s impossible to believe. And I won’t concede our bet, especially if the Doctor doesn’t even dare to undergo this assessment."
Dr. Bo frowned slightly. What on earth is Jing Shu up to? Doesn’t she know this part wasn’t prepared?
But Jing Shu simply winked and continued, "Not only that, I also want to go inside and be your assistant. That way, I can prevent you from playing any tricks, right? Of course, it’s also to satisfy my own curiosity. After all, I want to witness this miracle firsthand."
A skilled shill knows when to turn feigned criticism into praise. ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ 𝗇𝗈𝗏𝖾𝗅•𝖿𝗂𝗋𝖾•𝗇𝖾𝗍
Dr. Bo coughed. Looking at Jing Shu, who still had her back to the crowd, he asked for confirmation again, "Truly? My dear lady, you’ve already made countless unreasonable requests. Must I satisfy the next one, and the one after that as well?"
Jing Shu stated firmly, "This is the last one. If all of this is real, then from now on, I will entrust all my medicinal herbs to you, Doctor, for processing. And I will absolutely harbor no further doubts."
Since Jing Shu herself had said this, how could the others still dare to harbor doubts?
"Very well. Just this once."
Dr. Bo finally, and magnanimously, agreed. He then began bustling with preparations, telling everyone, "This is merely an experiment. If it were to be implemented on a large scale, it wouldn’t be nearly this complicated." Hearing this, the eyes of those present lit up again; their resources could potentially double!
Moreover, the Doctor had now agreed to the test. Even though the results weren’t in yet, the farmers collectively breathed a sigh of relief. Firstly, they trusted Jing Shu. After all, this person, who had been questioning and playing devil’s advocate from start to finish, seemingly couldn’t find any actual flaws. It was reminiscent of Dr. Bo’s miraculous defensive wall: initially met with widespread skepticism, hadn’t everyone eventually been convinced?
