Chapter 386: Chapter 386

"Hey, this ship is just the interest! We want all the other goods too!"

"The oil on cargo ship number 30 is good; we’ve reserved it too!"

Brother Fa changed his voice, using different tones to infuriate the other party and inform them that this time, they had hundreds of people with them! He truly pulled off a one-man show, playing multiple roles, which made Jing Shu and the others stare dumbfounded, almost believing it was true.

Pah! Even counting Little Black, there were only six of them in total! And look at Little Black—he was so scared he’d nearly wet his pants!

For the Underground black market and the Slave King, it truly was a case of "when it rains, it pours." Pirates had shown up on one side, and on the other, about twenty of their pursuit ships were missing without a trace. By the time they remembered to check the positioning system, those twenty-odd cargo ships were already nearing Williams!

"Chase them! Turn around and give chase!"

"No one escapes, damn it!" the furious Slave King commanded. He split his forces in two, intending to tear apart anyone who dared to cross him! Squadrons of terrifying armed forces, backed by several armed helicopters, headed straight for Williams.

He also ordered the Nobles and bodyguards to grab their firearms and eliminate the raiding pirates. Though, at this point, they still couldn’t figure out how pirates had suddenly appeared in such a narrow canal.

It was utter chaos. The slaves on the ship sensed the change in the situation. Some jumped into the river to escape. Others, long enslaved, numbly hid in the cargo holds; after all, there was no food outside, and they would starve even if they escaped. However, some who refused to remain slaves rallied a group of Black men, raided the cafeteria, and prepared to flee with the food.

Cargo ship number 24 was a scene of chaos, to say nothing of the situation outside.

Soon, several speedboats caught up. No matter how fast the cargo ship sped along, it couldn’t outrun them. Machine guns mounted on the speedboats opened fire indiscriminately at everyone on deck, whether slave or crew, instantly splattering blood everywhere as screams filled the air.

Lingling took a sniper position on the high ground. Tan Ke, now wearing Jing Shu’s skeleton mech, joined the fray. Monkey and Snake Spirit unleashed their formidable abilities in the darkness, where Little Snake silently killed many pursuers.

Tan Ke, clad in the skeleton mech, then boarded cargo ship number 25. Like an invulnerable, humanoid tyrannosaurus, he killed anyone in his path and hijacked the vessel. This brazen act of piracy made the pursuing Nobles and their leaders frantic, causing them to divert even more firepower in his direction.

"We can’t return empty-handed. If we can take this ship, it’s ours! Later, we’ll transfer the Contribution Value directly back. This ship is carrying metal ore; bringing it back will earn us a good amount."

Cargo ships number 24 and 25 were now speeding ahead. The Slave King believed that the pirates wouldn’t get far, given the slow speed of the cargo ships. Where could they possibly run with such heavy vessels? But those twenty-odd missing ships had genuinely vanished, so he dispatched all available firepower after the escaping ships, while also focusing on the immediate threat.

As a Supporting Wet Nurse, Jing Shu’s main responsibility was to guard the control room. She paid little mind to the Black men plundering materials from the cargo ship; they were mostly taking low-grade feed and other worthless food. In this tumult, their actions only added to the chaos, which ironically made it easier for Jing Shu’s group to escape.

The bridge’s glass shattered quickly amidst the raging battle outside. Inside, fat chicken lay comfortably in its nest, eyes narrowed in contentment. Jing Shu, however, was worried. All the Nobles’ armed forces had arrived, and with only a few of them, they couldn’t hold out much longer. A moment ago, it had just been machine guns, but now even grenade launchers were being used, clearly intending to sink the cargo ship!

"The ship can’t hold out much longer," Jing Shu said, shooting a Black man who was trying to break in.

Brother Fa, a cigarette dangling from his lips, took a deep breath. "We’re nearing the Canal exit. Soon, the waterway will widen. Take cargo ship number 25 and go as far as you can. If you can’t get away clean, jump into the river. Your mission will be complete as long as Old Yang makes it to Williams."

"What about you? Aren’t you escaping with us?" Jing Shu asked. She felt a pang of frustration looking at her mountain of luggage. Others came ready for battle, but she had to haul so many encumbrances wherever she went.

"Me? I still have a task," Brother Fa replied. "After you get clear, I have to use cargo ship number 24 to block the Canal’s entrance. That will prevent all the other ships from getting through. Unable to turn around easily, their speed will be at least halved. Otherwise, how would you escape?"

Jing Shu frowned. Is he planning on sacrificing himself? "Position the ship and then come to us. We’ll wait for you on cargo ship number 25."

Brother Fa smiled. "Don’t worry, no one wants to die if they can live. I have to ensure they’re blocked to buy time for Old Yang and for your escape. I’m good at disguises. If necessary, I’ll disguise myself as a Black man and try to blend in... By the way, what did you say your name was?"

"I’m Zhang Facai. Although most people call me Xiao Zhang, I prefer Brother Fa."

Jing Shu never found out if Brother Fa survived. Reaching the mouth of the Canal, Brother Fa steered his ship out first. He then turned it around, allowing cargo ship number 25 to pass, before positioning his own vessel to completely block the Canal’s entrance, anchoring it firmly in place.

With a ten-thousand-ton cargo ship wedged across the waterway, no other pursuing vessels could get through.

Tan Ke clumsily piloted cargo ship number 25. As the group made their escape, the recent events already felt like a different lifetime. This time, Jing Shu truly experienced what it meant to be under relentless enemy fire. Snake Spirit was injured during the ordeal, but the others were relatively unharmed.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief and increased speed, heading in a single direction. With just half an hour’s lead, they could completely evade their pursuers.

But just then, the thundering roar of rotor blades filled the air as an armed helicopter rapidly approached. More shockingly, the helicopter dropped bombs, obliterating the cargo ship blocking the Canal mouth in a fiery explosion that sent a mushroom cloud billowing upwards. The massive blast even seemed to tear a new opening at the Yun River Mouth!

In the dark night, Brother Fa’s cargo ship became a sea of fire. Some of the Black men aboard screamed as they leaped from the burning vessel into the water.

"Brother Fa didn’t make it out," Lingling said, his voice heavy, observing through night-vision goggles. For origınal chapters go to 𝖓𝖔𝖛𝖊𝖑~𝖋𝖎𝖗𝖾~𝖓𝖊𝖙

Tan Ke patted Lingling’s shoulder. "We can’t let his sacrifice be in vain. If I need to cover our retreat, none of you hesitate."

There was no time for grief. The armed helicopter was already heading towards cargo ship number 25, its powerful searchlights cutting through the darkness to illuminate their vessel.

"There’s no time for grief now," Lingling said, pulling an RPG launcher from Tan Ke’s bag. "We’re up against an armed helicopter. It’s fast, and an RPG might not be able to catch it. If three shots miss, we jump into the sea."

At this critical moment, Jing Shu certainly couldn’t hold back either. She pulled out her own RPG. That enemy helicopter is incredibly powerful! What if it blasts me to bits?
