Chapter 62: Chapter 62

The doctor stared at the sample Derek had given him, he wanted a DNA test to be conducted ASAP and had given him a mandate of 72 hours, although it would be difficult to get the results within that 72 hours but he would try his best. A knock sounded on his door and he glanced up to see an unknown figure enter into his office, he suddenly had a strange premonition about the stranger that just entered, "what do you want?" He asked but instead of replying, the stranger sat on the chair in front of him and crossed his legs, staring at him with eyes hard as flint that he shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

"What does that man want?" The stranger finally asked and he swallowed.

"I don't know who you're talking about" he managed to gasp out, seeking for a way of escape.

The stranger suddenly stood up, bringing his face to a very close proximity, "you damn well know what I mean, I mean this" the stranger whispered fiercely, suddenly grabbing the sample in his desk and raising it to his view, "you still don't know what I'm talking about?"

The doctor's eyes bulged as his eyes suddenly fell on the stranger's waist and sighted the gun right there

"He...he....wanted a DNA test to be carried out" he stammered as a sheen of sweats formed on his forehead and upper lips

The stranger sat back heavily on the chair, "you have to make the test results show positive at all cost"

The doctor stood up, "that's a crime and it's against my profession, I can't do that" he fumed at the stranger, who does he think he was, coming into his office to threaten and intimidate him.

The stranger stood up and pushed him back to his seat, bringing out the gun on his waist, placing the hard nozzle on his throat and the doctor shivered, "if you can't do it, I hope you can watch your family die. Your daughter is so pretty and too young to die, don't you think so?" The stranger whispered into his ears and he shivered at the menace in his voice, "leave my family out of this" he gritted and the stranger chuckled" what a fierce love you have for your family, your wife is pretty too, I could do two or three rounds with her before I end her life, right there in number 43 park avenue"

The doctor broke into sweats profusely, "what do you want? Just leave my family alone"

The stranger patted his head, " good boy, that's more like it. You know what I want, the DNA results must be a match"

He stood up and headed towards the door but paused at the door, one hand on the door handle, he glanced at the doctor, "I'll be watching you" and then he was gone.

The doctor shivered, what has he gotten himself into? He couldn't risk the life of his family for this, he would have to do what he was asked to do, he would alter the results, he was sorry but he had no choice.

Derek stared at Nicole, his face furious, "I don't want that bastard anywhere close to my son" he gritted and Nicole stared at him with wide-eyed innocence, "I have nothing to do with him, your mom sent him"

"I'm taking you home," he said after a slight pause, Nicole frowned as she echoed, "home?" Derek shifted uncomfortably, "yea, home, you're coming with me"

Nicole almost leap in joy but managed to curtail her emotions, she was getting exactly what she wanted, which calls for a serious celebration but it would have to wait as she had to watch herself around Derek, she feigned innocence, "I don't think I can return, listen, Derek, you don't have to be part of our life if you don't wish to, I can take care of our son, why don't you go back to your wife and act like he doesn't exist"

"If he's my son, I'll take full responsibility and be a father to him"

Nicole grimaced, "what do you mean if he's your son, of cause he is"

"Time will tell" Derek retorted

"What do you mean by that?" Nicole asked all wide-eyed innocence

"Nothing"

Nicole smiled inwardly, she knows exactly what he meant, he meant to carry out a DNA test, indeed time will tell Derek because she knows that the results will definitely turn out to be positive.

Kathleen was watching opera when Derek came in and she immediately rushed to welcome him but the sight of who came in behind him stopped her on her track, she stared at Derek, confused but he carefully avoided her gaze. Why would he bring her home when she had told him the child wasn't his, he promised her to run a DNA testing before taking any action but here he was with a lying woman and a son that wasn't his, she felt hurt, without a word, she turned on her heels and headed upstairs.

Derek watched Kathleen walk away with a hooded expression, he knew he had hurt her feelings but he had made his decision, Nicole will have to stay here until the DNA results come out, then he would settle everything.

"How could you?" Kathleen charged angrily at him as soon as he entered the room.

"Kath, please listen to me"

"No, Derek, I won't listen to any bullshit, that child is not yours, you don't trust my word do you?"

"It's not that, I trust you that's why I believe you enough to conduct a DNA test and I'm expecting the results soon, that will give us the answers to our questions"

Kathleen breathe in at hearing this, he had at least conducted a paternity test and hopefully the results will be out soon but she still wasn't ready to let him off the hook, "I'm still not happy with you in fact I'm so vexed" she stated turning her back to him, his brow furrowed as he hugged her from behind, "I deserved to be kicked in the shin for making my queen angry, why are you so angry?"

"You brought in another woman who you thought has borne you a child, how am I supposed to feel?"

"You know I don't love her Kath, making a baby with her was a mistake, you're the one I love"

"Even with that knowledge, I still feel not so good, I don't want to share my husband with anyone"

Derek carefully turned her around to face him, his face extremely serious, "you're not sharing me Kath, and you won't share me, I'm all yours and only yours, in body and heart. Please forgive me for putting you through these trauma"

Kathleen sighed and rested her head on his chest and he wound his arms around her, she was resting in the comfort of his arms but her heart was not comforted, she had a strange premonition that this comfort will soon be over and trouble will brew soon and her heart remained unrest, hopefully, the test results will have Derek sending Nicole out and this time for good.
