Derek finished bathing and still without a word to her, went downstairs to have his dinner, Kathleen followed him, why was he ignoring her? She was trying to make peace here, she sat down opposite to him in the dining and watched as his food was dished out for him, when the maid left, he attempted to start eating but Kathleen suddenly grabbed the food from him, "what the..."

"Thank God you finally talked, I thought you've gone dumb" his gaze met hers, "what do you want me to say?" His voice sounded tight to her ears and she ignored the pang she felt.

"I want you to say you've forgiven me and that you're no longer mad at me" there was tensed silence as he regarded her, her heart beats faster in speculation, he crossed his arms, leaned his back against the chair he was sitting and narrowed his gaze on her,

"What exactly am I to forgive you for?"

Oh! He wasn't going to make this easy for her, well, she has started it and would have to finish it, "I know you're only worried about me, hence, you asked me to stay far from Stefan, forgive me for going against your wish"

The corner of his mouth lifted and his eyes shone, "are you finally quitting the so-called friendship between the two of you?"

Kathleen nodded and he grinned, leaning his elbow on the table to get a closer view of her face, "you don't seem sincere to me though"

"I am sincere" she rushed to say.

He chuckled and observed her for a while, making her shift in her seat.

"so, you'll stop being stubborn and listen to your husband like a good wife?"

Kathleen rolled her eyes, "you don't have to rub it in, I know I'm a bit stubborn..."

"Just a bit?" He cut her off and she snorted.

"Ah-ha! What's that? I knew you weren't being sincere" Derek proclaimed and she stood up angrily, moved to his side of the table, and pointed her fingers at him, "look, Derek, can you make this any easier, I am trying to apologize here and..."

He cuts her shut by suddenly crushing his lips to hers, she gasp and his tongue delved in immediately, he played with her lips for a while before coming up for air, her shaking hands flew to her lips and they simply stared at each other panting.

"Accepted" he whispered after a while.

"What?" She asked confused and he grinned, flashing a dimple, "I've accepted your apology, dear wife, I'm glad you've finally decided to stay away from him".

Their gaze feasted on each other and she mouthed something that had his heart stopping for a while.

"What did you say?" He asked slowly, thinking he has heard incorrectly, she stared into his beautiful eyes, "I said, I love you" her words were more coherent and Derek's eyes darkened, he grabbed her so close to him, "say those words again" he whispered to her

"I love you Derek Deloux"

His lips came crashing down on hers as he carried her to their room without breaking the kiss.

Kathleen opened her eyes in the morning to see Derek already prepared for work, he was standing by the mirror, adjusting his tie, she frowned, "you're leaving so early" she remarked not sounding too pleased, he turned from the mirror to face her, "I have to, I want to quickly attend to some things so that I can come back early and spend the rest of the day with you, wouldn't you like to spend the rest of the day with me?

She smiled, getting up from the bed, Derek's eyes darkened at her nudity, she hugged him and kissed his cheek, "I'll so love that, I'll be waiting for your return" she kissed his lips and Derek deepened the kiss when he finally raised his head, her eyes were filled with desire and he shook his head, "no, no, hold that thought till I come back" she gave a soft laugh as he quickly grabbed his suitcase and practically ran from the room like someone fleeing the most sinful temptation.

Derek was immersed in his work when he was suddenly distracted by a knock on his door, he was trying to quickly finish up with his work so that he could quickly run home to his wife, he couldn't wait to be with her, he would tell her how special she was to him and that he loved her, yes, he had fallen in love with his wife and that would be the first thing he would let her know when he reached the house, she told him she loved him, he smiled thinking of their future together "what is it, Jake?" He briefly glanced at Jake before going back to what he was doing.

"Someone sent this" Jake replied handing him an envelope.

He frowned, "who sent it and what's in it?"

"The address is from your house but I don't know the content, it is tagged personal"

Derek collected the envelope from him and observed, "maybe it's from your wife since it has your home address on it" Jake suggested and Derek nodded for him to leave.

Why would Kathleen send him a message when she knew he would be coming back home very soon, he quickly finished what he was doing before opening the envelope, pictures fell out from the envelope and he frowned, who would send him pictures, he quickly looked at the pictures and the images he saw had his head reeling and his blood running cold.
