Chapter 26: Chapter 26
Marcus' Point of View
"Why Marcus? Why did you do that?" Anya said disgust was written all over her face. I whimpered. I tried to approach her, but she's already gone.
--
I got up and tried catching my breath. I looked at the room where I was, and all my memories came back: the deal, the act, and Anya.
"Fuck! Fuck you, Damien," I cursed. The door opened, and Lorraine entered, carrying a tray of food.
"You're awake, Alpha," she said softly. I looked at her, but I immediately averted my gaze. I'm ashamed of myself. Because of my stupidity, I lost Anya.
"How many hours have I been unconscious?" I asked her while looking outside. I feel empty inside. I looked like what they call a zombie, alive but seemingly lifeless.
"You're unconscious for a day, Alpha," she said and bowed her head. "I'm sorry, Alpha, I didn't know you did all that for, Luna," Lorraine sadly said. I don't know if she's talking about the deal because, as far as I remember, I haven't said anything to them, not even to my beta. I nodded my head at her. Lorraine excused herself and left the room. One day? I was out for a day? I want to thrash around the things in the room. If it wasn't for Damien, I was able to reach Anya.
"Nothing will happen to us if we continue to mop in this room, Marcus," my wolf said. He was right; we had to make way. I left the room and went to my office.
"Aaaahhhh! No! Don't attack us! Let us go. H-have mercy," I heard shouting outside. I hurried to the door. I saw Arnold in a hurry.
"Alpha," he said and bowed. He opened the door, and when we went out, I couldn't believe what I witnessed.
"What the fuck happened here?" I angrily asked. Arnold immediately transformed into his wolf, grabbed the rouge that kept following the woman, and twisted his neck. I help the woman to stand up.
"Alpha, please help us," she begged while crying her eyes out.
"What happened?" I asked calmly but thoughtfully.
"D-Damien, he ordered his subordinates to burn the h-households in e-east wood, Alpha," she said. I looked at Arnold. What the hell were our warriors doing!? "H-Have mercy, they will kill us," she cried. I gritted my teeth and clenched my fist. I looked at the woman and the child she was carrying.
"Come inside the packhouse," I ordered. I glanced at Arnold and nodded; he was helping the woman and the child.
"Call all the warriors from our pack; we will kill all the rouges in east wood," I mind-linked my beta. I won't let him do this. How dare he turned his back on the deal we had? Damien, you fucking mutt. I will make sure you will die in my hands.
Anya's Point of View
(Three days after the attack in Dark Hound.)
"Let me do it, Miss Anya," Lilac said and took the ladle away from me.
"Lilac, it's really okay with me," I said and chuckled. "If you insist, then I will prepare the pates instead," I added and smiled.
"I don't want Alpha Allan to scold me, Miss," she said and laughed. "You're a guest here, and he will visit you later," she added. I patted her shoulder and made her sit on the chair while I cook the remaining dish.
"Don't worry; I'll take care of Alpha Allan," I told her and winked. She hesitantly followed me. She sat down while looking at me. After the dish was cooked, Lilac helped me with the preparation.
"Wow! It smells delicious!" Brent shouted when he entered the kitchen. He hurriedly sat while Alpha Allan shook his head and followed behind him.
"Eat slowly, Brent. You might get choke," I told him while laughing.
"Wow! This is superb. You're outstanding, Miss Anya," Brent praised while still eating. I shook my head and grabbed a plate.
"Are you tired, Anya?" Alpha Allan asked.
"No, Alpha. I wanted to help Lilac here in the kitchen because doing nothing and sitting around makes me sick," I told him.
"You can help Pack Daycare if you want," he told me. I smiled.
"Really? I would love to!" I said and stroked my stomach. It's just days, but I'm used to caressing it now.
"Come with us and you too, Lilac, " Alpha Allan said. I started to eat while looking at Brent and Lilac quarreling like cats and dogs.
During my few days staying here at Crescere Lupus Pack, a word which means Crescent Wolf, Alpha Allan shared their history with me. All of their members have a crescent tattoo on their bodies. I saw that in Brent and Lilac and the other wolves I met when I went out with them. I also found out that Alpha Allan hasn't met his mate yet. I'm sure Alpha Allan's mate was lucky because I know he will love her. I smiled bitterly; I remember him again.
"Anya? Are you okay?" Alpha Allan asked.
"Of course," I replied to him.
"Why do you look like you're in pain?" he asked.
"I just remembered something unpleasant, Alpha," I said. "When can I go to Pack Daycare?" I asked him to avoid the topic.
"Whenever you want, Anya," he answered while smiling. I need to distract myself; I don't want to think about him anymore. I need to be okay.
