Chapter 17: Chapter 17
Anya's Point of View
"Where are you going, Marcus?" I asked him while crossing my arms. I was in the kitchen with Lorraine when I saw Marcus pass by the door.
"Into the woods, baby. My wolf is itching to run," he said, then shrugged his shoulders. I shook my head in disagreement.
"No, you can't. You're still injured and not yet fully healed," I said. Although the healing abilities of a werewolf were fast, I still can't risk it. I know Marcus's wolf really wants to get away and run until he gets tired after being confined in a room for days. Marcus approached me, grabbed my waist, placed his head on the crook of my neck, and whispered.
"Please, baby?" he said, then lick my earlobe. Gosh! I wanted to let go of the moan stuck in my throat, but I held back because I knew Lorraine was looking at us with her sheepish smile.
"You are so stubborn, Marcus! Fine, you can run," I said and let out a sigh. What can I do? I can feel him twitch his lips; I think he's smiling. I grabbed her hair and played with my fingers. I really love doing this because it's soft and silky.
"Thank you. I'll be back later. I love you," Marcus said and kissed my forehead. As I sat back in the chair with a smile on my face, he walked out of the kitchen.
"I love you too," I replied, but my eyes went wide. It casually came out from the both of us. The three words, eight letters that I long to hear. I could feel my heart raced. Lorraine fake coughed behind me, so I looked at her, and she smiled happily at me.
"That was so sweet, Luna! I already missed my mate," Lorraine said, then giggled. I rolled my eyes at her, but the smile on my lips could not be erased. I could still hear what he has said to me, and that's sweet. We went back to talking until we thought about cooking.
Lorraine taught me lots of new recipes to cook. We made a lot of food and served these today. I can't wait to taste it with Marcus, and I know it will run out later because of the number of werewolves wanting to eat.
"Thank you, Lorraine," I sincerely said to her and hugged her.
"It's nothing, Luna. It's my job to serve you," she said to me. I am fortunate to have a friend like her.
Marcus Point of View
As soon as I left the packhouse, I let my wolf take over. I bit the clothes I took earlier. We ran too deep into the forest, but I suddenly remembered what Arkand said.
I was walking to the back of the house when I saw Arkand talking. It turned its back on me, so I did not see who it was. Arkand has been entering and leaving my pack as per Joseph's order.
"If you don't want to tell him, then I'll be the one who will!" I heard Arkand say that he was furious, but what I'm curious about is: what are they fighting about?
"Don't! Please have mercy! He will kill my pack members when he finds out," the woman pleaded with him. Fuck. Why am I even listening to their conversation? I don't care, but I'm annoyed because that stupid Arkand was still here. He looked at where I was, and I immediately turned around. Acted as if I heard nothing when he called my name.
"Marcus."
"What do you need, Arkand?" I asked while my back was still turned. I think the woman he was talking to earlier has already left.
"I need to talk to you," he said. Motherfuvker! If he says about snatching Anya away from me, I will kill him. I looked at him and spoke.
"About what?"
"Stay away from her. Stay away from Anya," he said. "Someone like you is not worthy of her. You will only hurt her, Marcus," he added seriously.
"What the fuck, Arkand? What is this gimmick? And who are you to say I do not deserve Anya!?" I angrily said and grabbed the collar of his shirt.
"Kill him!" my wolf said. He's enraged. "I will," I replied back.
"You don't understand, Marcus. There will be a lot of harm if you continue to be with Anya. Stay away from her!" he yelled, which got me flaring in anger.
"Damien is alive," he added and left. I was stunned for a minute. What does he mean by many will be in danger? What does he know? Now that he said that Damien was alive, I was pissed. That damned man was still wreaking havoc because she couldn't get my sister.
--
I will never follow what he wanted. I can't leave Anya. I can't live without her without my mate. Before, I was against the idea of having a fated mate, but now I will do everything to protect her even if I die.
