Chapter 13: Chapter 13

THIRTEEN

After eating the oatmeal that was not as hot, Willow opened the huge glass doors to the balcony. Somehow she still trusted Black enough to eat the food he had prepared. Besides the unexplainable trust she had for him, she decided that being poisoned would be better at this point. Everything in her life had turned miserably horrible and dying did not seem like a bad idea.

She was not suicidal but she had contemplated her life numerous times over the past years. If Black poisoned her, perhaps her death would be less painful and in that way, she would not be the one to take her own life.

The ground was not very far from where she was standing but it was high enough to cause injury if one attempted to jump. The idea to jump out flew out the window. Black would probably be able to hear her drop with a huge thud. And she would not be able to escape because of a broken leg. Apart from that, she was certain that Black could make out all her moves wherever he was in the house. She was aware of the more enhanced senses that werewolves possessed.

The balcony was also plainly decorated, Willow looked around and imagined a table and a chair. It would be such a nice place to have tea and think. The large trees that spread a few feet from the house made the air even more amazing and clean. She liked it. She sighed and took in a breath of the cool and clean air.

After a while, she walked back into the room and closed the door behind her. Willow took a seat on the bed and sighed. She thought about Black’s words. Judging from how he spoke of Louis and Levi, he knew everything. Black knowing about her horrible life choices, traumatic experience and every terrible aspect of her life did not sit well with her.

She was upset because he had snooped into her personal life and because she did not want him to look at her differently. Her life was not something she was proud of. She made terrible decisions and the way her life had turned out was proof of that. Black knowing about everything was horrible, she was convinced that he now had a different opinion about her.

After convincing herself that she did not have to worry about Black’s opinion on her life, she left the room and searched for the stairs. The entire floor was also empty and undecorated, she noticed. The entire house looked like it was on sale, she grimaced and thought of all the possibilities of how she could be trespassing.

As she came down the stairs, she picked up a grunting sound from the left. She followed the sound, certain that Black was there. The empty house freaked her house and she wondered how Black could live in the house. It barely looked like a place where one could live. It was empty and cold, every sound bounced off the walls, creating an echo. Even the sound of her feet moving was too loud.

When she opened the door and entered what was supposed to be the kitchen, she frowned. It was also as plain as the entire house. Black was on a stool around the counter and immediately when she entered the room, his head shot up. His green eyes fell on her and he took in a sharp breath.

He could not believe that the mere thought of her with someone else made him feel so many things. Why did he feel like this? She was not the first woman he had interacted with but she was the first one to elicit such emotions and reactions from him. Why though? He kept asking himself this question.

It was unlike him to do such a thing, he brought her into the pack despite knowing that she could be a threat. Yet, when he looked into her honey-brown eyes, he could not see any threat.

“Black,” She said his name so silently and yet it made him feel ‘too’ much.

He kept quiet and watched her move into the room and take a seat as well. Willow’s eyes were still scanning the room, she looked uncertain. Black realised that she was probably judging the interior design of his house.

Black cleared his throat. “I just moved in, and haven’t had time to decorate yet.” He said. That was a lie, he did not want to leave a bad impression. He had the house longer than Aleisa was Luna.

Willow nodded and placed her hands on top of the marble counter, she chewed on the inside of her lip nervous. She was uncertain of what to say. What was she supposed to say? He kind of kidnapped her even if he was not cruel or refused to feed her. He gave her food and did not lock her in that room. She looked up at him, luckily she did not have to say anything because Black spoke first.

“I’m sorry for what happened last night,”

He sounded sincere and his eyes begged her to forgive him. She gave him a small smile after a few seconds of registering his words.

“You need to apologise to Levi as well—”

Black growled and shook his head. “No.” He said firmly.

Willow rolled her eyes and was back to being frustrated. Black had hit Levi, it was wrong and should apologise. It was the right thing to do. If he was willing to apologise to her, he should be able to apologise to Levi.

“What do you mean by No?” Willow demanded. “You beat Levi, you beat him up. God knows if he’s alright.”

“Oh come on, he’s a werewolf. He healed way before we even arrived here.” He countered.

Willow glared at him, she was ready to argue with him about this. Levi was her friend, if he was not willing to apologise then she would not accept.

“I’m serious, You hurt him even if he has super healing or whatever, you need to apologise.” She repeated. “If you don’t apologise, don’t even bother to apologise to me.” She crossed her arms over her chest for emphasis.

Black clenched his jaw, he looked at her face. He did not want her to be upset with him anymore. But after everything he had been told about Levi and Louis and what they had been doing to Willow, the only thing he wanted to do was beat their teeth in.

“I won’t do that,” He grunted stubbornly. The topic was starting to set him off. It did not make sense to him why she was so bent on this topic.

“Why the fuck not?!” Willow yelled out.

“Because he deserves to be beaten even more, I’d kill him if I saw him again.” Black breathed out. His hands were clenched under the table. He could imagine hitting him once again.

Willow flinched at the tone of his voice and stood up straight. She could not believe that he said that. Killing someone was not supposed to be talked about so casually. He talked about it like he could do it in an instant. That worried her very much. How could he say it like that?

“How could you say that? Why would you kill him?! He’s my friend.” Willow shouted at him.

The thought of not having Levi in her life scared her. Maybe she was selfish for always wanting him to be around but Levi was the only person that supported her through everything. Could she not be selfish and only wish for Levi to remain in her life? He was the only one that completely knew about what was going on in her life. Levi was like her life support.

Black stood up as well and glowered at her. “Friend?!” He scoffed. “How can a friend let you be used and watch silently?”

“Levi is my friend and I love him regardless of my trashy life and every horrible thing I’m enduring!” Willow’s anger was building up. “Besides, who gave you the right to search through my life?”

Black stepped over to her. He was not as angry as he was a few hours ago when Isaac told him about Willow being Louis’s mate but he could feel himself getting angrier by the second. Perhaps it was because she said she loved Levi. That ticked him off but he knew that from how Willow made it sound, it was platonic. But despite that, he remembered how they held hands last night. He held her so protectively and lovingly. It angered him.

“How did you expect me to find out about you when you were not willing to say shit?” Black countered.

“My life is none of your business. Why would I tell you anything, I barely know you?!”

Maybe Black was getting too close for her liking, but when he stood in front of her with only a few centimetres between them she wanted to jump his bones. His face looked so intimidating and handsome from up close. She chanted a few words in her mind to get over her attraction for him but nothing seemed to be working.

“Really? I’m willing to change that if you are,” Black shrugged.

His eyes glazed over her face and down to her neck. He had gone from being angry to wanting a taste of her lips. He questioned how his self-resolve had left him since the day he met her.

Willow could not even form the words. She swallowed hard, the attraction she felt for this man was electrifying. It was more than a crush and she now understood that. Just by the way she wanted to have her lips on his and her hands on his chest, she knew that it was dangerous. It was not normal to be infatuated with someone in such a manner. She was angry at him a few seconds ago and then just because he was close to her, she wanted to kiss him.

“Black,” She breathed out.

Black continued staring at her intensely. He could not get her lips out of his mind and all he wanted was to taste them. He stepped closer, looking down at her chest which rose up and down slowly. He wondered if it was normal to like a person like this, especially since the person was not his mate. The weird part was that he wanted her to be his mate, it felt like she was his to claim. He wanted his mark on her.

His eyes trailed back to her neck and he reached out with his hand. His fingers rested on her neck, Willow took in a sharp breath at the contact. Black’s fingers went up to her jaw, he relished in the feeling of his fingers tracing down her smooth skin. He wanted to touch more of her and his wolf urged him more. He stepped closer before leaning close to her ear.

Black searched for the one thing he wanted. With his fingers on her skin and his nose buried near her neck, he searched for the one thing he wanted right now. A trace of her scent. He sniffed hard to get her natural scent but it was of no use. It was like she did not have a scent.

He growled frustrated, Willow scurried backwards after hearing the inhuman sound. Her hand reached up to her neck, searching for a bite mark or blood but there was nothing. She stepped further away, keeping her stare away from Black. It was already weird that he was sniffing her and then growling. Now she was scared.

Black realized what he did and looked up at Willow. She looked scared of him once again. Immediate regret swarmed him up when he saw her face. Being scared of him was the last thing Black wanted her to be. He wanted her to feel safe around him. He had acknowledged that he liked her more than he should.

“Willow, I didn’t mean to scare you.” He told her with a concerned frown on his face.

Willow looked at him. The concern and regret in his voice made her look up. Now she had a lot of questions. Why was he always concerned? She wondered if the attraction was mutual but that could not be true. She knew about mates and she was wise enough to avoid further heartbreak.

“Can you please just drop me off at home? My aunt must be worried.” Her voice was low but when she looked up to meet Black’s green eyes, he grew weak and nodded.

He took a step back and was about to say something when the front door of the house opened. Both of them heard it, mostly because the house was empty. Footsteps followed afterwards, Black rolled his eyes when he realised who it was. When Isaac opened the door, Black was not shocked but Willow was.

“Black, you’re in deep trouble. Alex fou—” Isaac paused and noticed the other presence in the room. He cursed at himself for not noticing the rogue scent and two heartbeats. “Willow?!”

Isaac looked at Willow before looking at Black and repeating the action a few more times. He finally decided to walk over to Black and tug at his arm and pulled him out of the kitchen. Isaac and Black stood outside the door, Black looked pointedly annoyed at him but Isaac shrugged it off

“What is she doing here?” Isaac asked in a hushed whisper.

Black kept quiet and only looked at Isaac with an annoyed stare. Isaac looked to Willow, hoping to actually get a reply.

“He kidnapped me,” She did not think there was anything wrong with Black’s family knowing that he had taken a girl to his house–if it could even be called that–by force, without said woman’s consent.

Isaac turned back to Black, a look of disbelief on his face. Willow noticed that he was not shocked.

“Really man? I guess Alex was right.” Isaac sighed. “I came to tell you that Alex knows about this entire situation, well not this one...” Isaac dragged out as he stared between Black and Willow. “—he isn’t too pleased but I explained it to him. I think we need to meet this Louis guy and sort out everything before shit goes crazy.”

Black thought about his past encounters with rogues. None of them were ever peaceful or just talk, fists and claws always flew around. He was not a fan of rogues and while he understood not to discriminate against all of them, he just could not get rid of the hate he felt for them. Having to encounter another rogue after last night did not please him, especially one that had some sort of “relationship” with Willow. Perhaps that was his Jealousy speaking too loudly.

“No.” Isaac could read the look of refusal on Black’s face. “I need Alex and you at my side.”

Black knew that there was no way of getting out of this, Isaac or Alex would force him. Other than that, his conscience would not have allowed him. He sighed and nodded. He thought about what Isaac said and admittedly, it was better that Alex knew. Alex was calm and would probably find a quick and peaceful solution.

“Alex?”

“Oh um...he’s doing something right now.” Isaac looked unconvinced but his own answer, but he decided to keep the part about finding out about Willow’s scent to himself.

Black’s eyebrows scrunched up in confusion and he wanted to ask about Alex a bit more but Willow beat him to it.

“Isaac, right?” She asked and Isaac nodded with a smile on his face. “Please get me out of here, you seem more sane than him. Besides, I’ll freeze to death in this place.” She made a motion of looking around the place.

“I told you to add more furniture,” Isaac looked over to Black. “This place looks like it did three years ago.”

“Three years? This place has been empty for three years?... Damn, what a waste for such a great house.” Willow looked at the house with a longing sparkle in her eyes.

The house was amazing, two storey with an amazing view. Willow would be lying if she said that she did not think about decorating this house and living in it. It was perfect for a small happy family. All her hopeful thoughts crumbled because, at the end of the day, her life was everything but happy.

“I say that everything,” Isaac shook his head, agreeing with Willow’s words. “Wait until Nina finds out about this place, she’s going to fix it up.”

“No. She’s not going to find out.” Black said.

They had kept the house a secret for three years now, what were a couple more years? Even Zaira had no idea of the place, which meant they were doing a pretty great job at keeping it a secret. Black did not want his house to look like a replica of what either Zaira, Nina or Aleisa liked. Preferably, only his mate would take care of everything. He would give her that chance, the chance to decorate their home.

His mind sought out Willow at that thought, his eyes found her brown ones. Amidst all this confusion with the rogues and how he felt about her, he wanted her. He did not second guess his feelings but he did second guess his fate. She was not his mate, he had no right to want to have her like he did.

“Huh!” Isaac suddenly exclaimed with a bright look of realisation on his face. He was in front of Willow as quickly as the idea had popped into his mind. “You should meet my mate, her name is A—”

“No.” Black cut him off and grabbed Willow’s wrist. “Come on, I’ll take you home.” He said and dragged Willow out of the room.

“What?!” Isaac ran after them. “Why don’t you want her to meet Aleisa?”

Black turned to face Isaac with a ‘Are you really asking me that question?’ look. Isaac raised his arms.

“Okay, I understand but Aleisa is cool...better than Zee anyway.”

Black ignored Isaac and led Willow outside the house. He opened the car door for her and she got in but not before glancing at him. Black looked over at Isaac who was getting into his own car before going round and getting into the driver’s seat.
