Chapter 20: Chapter 20

"What the fuck happened to you?", I whispered shouted at Larry who was bleeding. The two other guys tried helping him to walk.

"I can fucking walk, damn it", he glared at the guys and they immediately took their hands off him.

"Larry what happened?", I repeated.

"Peter Cruz shot me! That's what happened. I was this close to putting a bullet inside his head...", Larry yelled.

"Turn your voice down damn it. Valerie is here", I dragged him and the guys to my office.

After we were inside, I locked the door and turned to him. "Start from the beginning"

He sighed. "We were watching the bar as you told us but 'the rat' didn't show up tonight. It was Peter showing up instead then he noticed us sitting at one of the corners. He came to us and started to talk shit. Then he brought up Leah", he took a deep breath.

Leah was Larry's sister. She dated Peter a few years back without telling him. Peter got abusive to her and she always came home with bruises on her body. When Larry found out, he was furious and threw all the punches he had that almost killed Peter. Almost.

"That son of a bitch started to get on my nerves and I threw my fist at his freaking face. Being a pussy he was, he took out his gun and shot my shoulder", he scoffed.

"We need to get rid of this problem now, Sean. I don't care what the consequences are but I want this son of a bitches dead. They've been fucking problem for a long time and if we don't strike, they'll do anything to destroy us", Larry said. He unlocking the door and went out of my office leaving me and the two guys alone. They both looked nervous and awkward about my presence in front of them.

"Follow him and take care of his wound", I commanded them. They nodded and hurried towards the door. I pinched the bridge of my nose. Larry was right. I needed to get rid of this problem fast. But then I thought about Valerie. It would mean that I had to be apart from her for a while to get this done.

After standing there for a while, I went back to the kitchen and find her still sitting there as I left her. Good girl. She lifted her head when she saw me.

"Is everything OK?", she asked carefully.

"Yeah. Everything's fine", I kissed her temple.

"Are you sure? You seemed tense", she frowned.

"I'm fine, OK? Now that I have you here", I nuzzled her neck.

"Alright I believe you but you have to promise that you will talk to me if something's wrong", she said sternly and it was adorable.

"I promise, baby", I pecked on her plum lips. Then I kissed her deeper. My hand was at the back of her neck and she kissed back. She moaned lightly when I slipped my tongue inside her mouth. Her hands were on my shoulder as she tried to move closer to me. She tasted sweet and I couldn't get enough of her.

I pulled away and placed my forehead against hers to catch our breath. I caressed her cheek with my thumb and looked into her dark eyes.

"I have to go home. It's getting late", she said breathing heavily.

"No, stay the night, please", I pleaded.

"But Dani will be worried", she said.

"Just tell her you're staying at one of your friend's houses", I kissed her neck and she moaned.

"O-okay", she stuttered. I chuckled at her cuteness.

After we washed the dishes, I led her upstairs to my room with my hand intertwined with hers. I opened the door and let her inside first. She looked around her surroundings as she sat on my bed.

"Do you want to take a shower?", I asked.

She shook her head no then I saw her cheeks heated up.

"I don't have clothes to sleep in", she said shyly. I chuckled at her cuteness.

"You can borrow my sister's clothes if you want", I said.

"She won't mind?"

"Of course she won't mind", I said. "I'll go get them for you", I said opening the door and walked towards Georgina's room. Her room was big and most were filled with her work. Her sewing machines and the dress stands took most of the space.

I headed towards her big closet and took a T-shirt and sweatpants for Valerie to sleep in. I hoped it was enough.

When I went back to my room, I saw her with her phone, probably texting her roommate.

"Here. I hope this is enough", I said placing the clothes on her lap.

She stopped whatever she was doing with her phone and smiled. "Thanks. It's more than enough"

"I'm going for a shower. You can change here", I said kissing her head.

"Okay", she muttered.

I headed to my bathroom and closed the door behind me. I turned on the shower then set it warm enough to release the tension from my body. I tried to think something about getting rid of 'the rat' and Peter.

I was thinking about going back to Chicago to finish the business but then my mind wandered to Valerie. I knew I would be away and the thought that I just got her back made me think twice. What if something happened if I was gone for a while? No, I had to go and finished it once and for all. With that, I wouldn't have to worry about her being taken away from me.

I turned off the shower and grabbed a towel to dry myself and put it around my waist. I got out of the bathroom thinking that she would be waiting for me but disappointment hit me when I found her sleeping on the cover.

I looked at the clock and my eyes widen, didn't realize that I showered that long. No wonder she fell asleep. She must be exhausted.

I walked towards my closet and put on sweatpants before I climbed on the bed. I slowly put my hands under her knee then pulled up the covers until her neck.

I let myself inside the covers as well and brought her closer to my naked chest. She moved a little but then she put her hand against my stomach. She felt warm and her hair smelled like strawberry. I kept inhaling her sweet scent until I felt myself getting tired and sleepy.

I kissed her forehead once again and rest my chin on top of her head as I closed my eyes.

Valerie POV

I got scared when I heard a bang from the front door, and when Sean said to stay in the kitchen, I just nodded and let my butt stay glued on the chair. I heard him talking with someone but I couldn't make it what he was talking about then I heard a door opened and closed and it was silence.

He might be inside his office or something with the other person, probably his gang mate? I had no choice but to just stay seated in the kitchen until he came back.

I checked on my phone, hoping I got a message from Liam but it was nothing which made me sad. I decided to text him first asking whether he was still mad at me or not.

It was sent and I saw he read it, but he didn't reply. He hated me. I threw the phone away sulking over my probably the end of our friendship. I didn't realize that me going back together with Sean would cost losing my best friend.

I got it why he was mad. He just wanted to protect me but it doesn't mean he had to give me the silent treatment, right? I just wanted Liam to see and understand what I feel to Sean. Guess it was too much to ask, huh?

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard footsteps and Sean came into the view. He had a frown on his face making me worried.

"Is everything OK? I asked him carefully.

"Yeah, everything's fine", he said kissing my temple. I didn't believe him.

"Are you sure? You seem tense", I said trying to have him talk to me.

"I'm fine now that I have you here", he nuzzled my neck making me confused but I didn't push him further.

"Alright, I believe you but you have to promise that you'll talk to me if something's wrong", I said sternly. I hated to be kept in the dark.

"I promise, baby", he said pecking my lips. I placed my hands behind his neck as he kissed me deeper making me moan lightly then his tongue made away inside my mouth.

Soon he pulled away and placed our foreheads together as we catch our breath. He brought his hand towards my cheek and caressed it while looking deep into my dark eyes. His looks were captivating and I could stand here forever just to look at him but it was impossible.

"I have to go home. It's getting late", I said sadly, didn't realize how fast the time went.

"No, stay the night, please", his eyes begging me. Trust me, I wanted to. But I didn't want to worry Dani.

"But Dani will be worried", said.

"Just tell her you're staying at one of your friend's houses", he kissed my neck making me moan again. Oh, God, he was so perfect.

"O-Ok", I stuttered without thinking. He chuckled at my reaction. Damn, he tricked me. Well, I guess I could stay for the night. I mean, it's not like Dani needs me anyway.

He led me upstairs to one of the rooms, which was his I thought. He opened the door and signaled me to go first. I stepped inside and I was awed with the interior. The walls were painted with dark colors. Right in the middle, there was a king-size bed with black covers, a big plasma TV, a desk near the window, and a walk-in closet. It was surprisingly neat for a guy's room making me ashamed of myself because my room was like a wrecked ship.

"Do you want to take a shower?", he asked as I sat on his bed. I shook my head no then my cheek was heated remembering I didn't have anything to sleep in. I wore tight skinny jeans and an off-shoulder top and I didn't want to sleep with my jeans on because I'd be uncomfortable.

"I don't have clothes to sleep in", I said shyly.

"You can borrow my sister's clothes if you want", he offered.

"She won't mind?", I asked.

"Of course she won't. I'll go get them for you", he said opening the door and closed it behind him leaving me alone in his room.

I decided to tell Dani that I was having a sleepover with Liam and not to wait for me. She instantly replied with an 'ok' making me sigh in relief. Speaking of Liam he still hadn't texted or called making me upset. I tried calling him again but unfortunately, his phone was turned off.

Sean came back to the room with some clothes in his hands. "Here. I hope this is enough", he handed me a T-shirt and sweatpants.

"Thanks, it's more than enough", I smiled.

"I'm going for a shower. You can change here", he said kissing my head.

"Okay", I muttered.

He walked to his bathroom and closed the door leaving me alone again in his room. Soon, I heard the shower turned on and the water splashing. I quickly change into the clothes he just gave to me and left my clothes laying on the chair near the desk.

I still looked at my phone hoping Liam would contact me but he didn't and I ended up sleeping on Sean's bed thinking about how Liam was mad at me.
