Chapter 89: Chapter 89
DUSK'S POV
"You're kidding me," I said, and the men in the room looked at me with pity in their eyes.
"When did he stop breathing?" I asked them.
"About three minutes ago," they said, and I ran to Lucius, kneeling next to him.
"No, you can't do this to me, not you too!" I exclaimed as I used my fingers to pry his mouth open.
I chewed the petals in my mouth, not caring what it would do to me, and I passed them into his mouth.
"What's that?" Marcus asked, but I wasn't in the right state of mind.
I took some water and poured it into his mouth, taking the petals down.
I waited, with my eyes already filling up.
"You can't die on me. I can't go through all that and have you die on me; it's not even four days left," I cried, and Marcus came to me.
"Doing this will only hurt you more," he said, and tried to take me away.
"No! Let me go!" I screamed, but he held me firmly, taking me away.
"You have to understand it's over! You should be grateful; you'd have been the one in that bed!" He said, trying to knock sense into me.
"I'd do anything to be in that bed! Let me go!" I screamed at him, trying to tear his arms away from me.
"Cover him up," I heard the Physician say, and one of his students went to Lucius to cover him with a white sheet.
"No! No!! He's your Alpha, take off that sheet!" I screamed, but they only shook their heads sadly.
I cried and wailed loudly as Marcus held me tight, as though he was trying to make my pain his.
I didn't want to accept he was gone just like that. It couldn't be.
"Master!" Someone suddenly said, and there was silence. I turned with a wet face to look at Lucius. The sheets were still over his face, but there was a small movement...
He was breathing, and the sheets were moving.
I screamed and ran to him, but before I got there, he had taken the sheets down.
I threw myself against him and began to cry.
He seemed shocked at first, but after a while, he put a hand over my back, and I sobbed.

Lucius was being fed food by the maids, and everyone was present at the Physicians' quarters, including Seline, who had hugged me and refused to let me go.
"Tell us what happened," Elder James said.
"We thought you disappeared without a word. We thought you ran because he was dying, and Dalia also; we couldn't find her anywhere," Seline said, and tears sprang to my eyes.
"I searched for a cure because I couldn't let him go like that. So, I went to a Kingdom that was said to have the cure," I said, and their eyes nearly fell from their sockets when I told them the name of the Kingdom I went to.
"Dalia went with me. She wanted to make up for her horrible attitude and save Lucius. She was really helpful, and we worked things out together, but... But..." I was saying but broke down in tears.
"She died?" Marcus asked, and I nodded.
"Right in front of me, she was chopped to pieces," I said as hot tears rolled down my cheeks, and Seline came to hug me.
"I'm sorry you had to see that," She said reassuringly.
After everyone thanked me for saving the Alpha, and more decisions had been made, I went to my room, took out a sheet of paper, and wrote:
"I owe you and cannot possibly repay it. Thank you so much, Matilda. Much love from me." I wrote it and went to meet the scholars to help me write it in Braille.
"Thank you so much for saving our Alpha," One said to me, and I gave a little smile.
I sent the letter off to Matilda, and when it was night, I went to see Lucius with a tray of food.
He smiled when he saw me.
"I feel a lot better, but everyone insists I stay here for a while," He said, and I smiled.
"You should be in this bed for a long time. How do you feel?" I asked in concern.
"I think I just told you now," He said, and I smiled.
"I'm happy to see you again, looking so strong and well. You've saved me multiple times. I'm just so happy I was able to save you," I said, and he smiled.
"Thanks for saving me. I also didn't want to die. What about Ariadne?" He asked.
"She's in the dungeon," I said, but didn't mention that she was dying slowly.
"She deserves to be executed for trying to kill you," He said, and I laughed.
"Your mind should be off that for now," I said and pushed the tray closer to him. "Eat as much as you want," I said, and he started to eat.
"My reign as Alpha has been quite a bumpy one," He said as he took a spoonful of porridge.
"Yes, and it made you into who you are. You've learned a lot. From the time of Athena," I said, and he scoffed.
"That vampire. I wonder if she's still roaming around killing people," He said.
"I doubt that. She might have turned over a new leaf, you know. Oh, I wanted to ask, what about the peace meeting? What did they say?" I asked in curiosity.
"They lied, saying it was a test," He said, and I scoffed.
"So they killed their best soldiers just for a test? Now, that's ridiculous," I said, and he nodded.
"I made my stand there. They all seemed terrified of me. I think I passed my message to them successfully."
"What message?"
"That they're not to mess with my people."
"Does it still bother you that you couldn't find justice for those men Athena killed?" I asked, and he turned to me with a serious look. "And... Also for your father. The men who killed him."
"What really happened with Athena, tell me the truth and I'll tell you the truth," He said, and I furrowed my brows in confusion. What truth?
"Uh... Well, I set Athena free. I gave her a second chance," I said, and he looked at me more seriously, and spoke.
"I know the culprit. I knew all along. The one who killed my father," He said.
"Who was he?" I asked immediately.
"He was me."
