Chapter 79: Chapter 79

DUSK'S POV

"Something's calling me, Lucius," I repeated.

"I don't understand you... Why did you try to kill yourself?" He asked me.

"It wasn't me. I couldn't stop myself, I just..."

"Get up..." The voice said to me, and I stood to my feet.

"Dusk!" Lucius called, and took my hand, but I surprisingly tried to jerk it away from him.

"Come child, come... You belong here with me." The voice said, and I started to cry.

"Let me go! I just met her... I can't stay here! I belong with her!" I cried, and he pulled me into his arms.

"You belong with who!? Who are you going to meet??"

"Naomi!" I exclaimed, and he held me even tighter.

"She's calling you?" He asked, and I nodded.

"She needs me," I said, even though I didn't mean it.

"I'm not letting you go. I'm going to do something about it. I'm going to destroy her," he said, in fury and I felt my head aching.

"My patience is running out fast... Come to me, or I'll make you feel pain like you've never felt before," she said, and everything seemed to split in two, it felt like loud bells were jingling in my head.

I cried as Lucius held me tight, and it took a while before the voice and the ringing stopped.

I took shaky breaths and blinked rapidly.

"I'll never let anything happen to you," Lucius said, stroking my head.

He took me in his arms, and we left the garden.

I slept in his room that night, and he held me tight in his arms.

The next morning, I sat in Lucius' study with a depressed look on my face.

"She's on her way. I've sent for her," Lucius said, and I nodded slowly.

Shortly, Seline rushed in looking like she had been woken out of her sleep; her hair was matted and there were dark bags underneath her eyes.

"I heard you called for me urgently, Alpha," she said, and Lucius nodded.

"There's another problem," he said, and Seline came to me.

"With Dusk?" She asked, and he nodded.

"I'm afraid Naomi has found a way to manipulate her actions. I had a dream, and she was mad in that dream. She didn't want to accept defeat, and when I woke up, I saw a circle of light on Dusk's forehead, and she smiled," he said, and Seline swallowed.

"But I dismissed it. It felt like I was overthinking things," he said, and Seline shook her head.

"Manipulation is much worse than mere possession. We might have to get rid of Naomi or negotiate with her," Seline said, and Lucius hit his hand on the table.

"No. No negotiations. She's done enough. No one messes with my pack and goes Scot-free," Lucius said, and Seline nodded.

"I'll start my research right away," she said. "But can I observe her?" She asked, putting a hand on my shoulder and Lucius nodded.

Seline led me out to her quarters and held my hand.

"This must have been the aura I felt around you yesterday," she said, putting a hand on my chest.

"Maybe..."

"Tell me how you felt," she said, and I swallowed.

"I wasn't able to control myself. It felt like my body was doing things without my permission, and when she called for me, it was everywhere in my head. I felt like I needed to go. When Lucius held me back, my head began to hurt, and I felt like dying," I said, and she sniffed.

"I'll find a way to end that water being. I give you my word," she said, and I lay my head on her shoulder.

"I don't want her to call me again," I said, and she stroked my head.

"She won't."

LUCIUS' POV

I needed to put an end to the things going wrong in my Palace. Finishing Naomi off was the second thing I was going to do because I had already established my stand with the first thing I did. That was during the Peace meeting the Allies of my Kingdom had held. They had started the meeting reluctantly.

"Well, we called you here, Alpha Lucius, to explain things better," Alpha Craig said, and I saw a nasty smile on Alpha Roland's face.

"Indeed," he had said, and I had looked at Alpha Craig.

"That invasion was not an ambush or anything of the sort. It wasn't an attack, nor was it a war. It was a plan to check if you were able to hold the throne. It was to see your abilities, to see how far you could go for your people, and how fast you could react to a sudden invasion. We have to be sure the Kingdom was safe, as your father was one loved by many," he had been saying, but I had interrupted with a laugh.

"A plan? Checking my abilities? So to check my abilities, you'd risk the lives of a thousand men? Those men died all because you wanted to test me? Those men were trained extensively just for a plan? His men died, and he did nothing. That is something I will never believe," I had said, as I had seen easily through their eyes.

They all looked uncomfortable in their seats, especially Alpha Roland.

"You have to understand, Alpha Lucius, that you are still young and..."

"Yes, I am younger and stronger. That is why you should be careful around me. I have been trained from a very young age on how to rule. Ruling is deep within me. I'll sound this as a warning to you. Touch my Kingdom once more, and I'll destroy all of you, ally or not, treaty or not," I had said, and left.

However, hours later, Marcus knocked hastily.

"Come in," I said, and he came in worriedly.

"Lady Dusk is missing. Seline has been chained up," he said, and I rushed to see Seline.

"Hurry. She's quite strong," she said to me, and I ran to the only place I knew she was going to be.

When I got to Naomi's place, I saw Dusk's shoes in front of the water and dived in without another thought.

Deep down, I finally spotted her, sleeping with her knees to her chest.

I swam to her and tried to touch her, only to feel something solid, blocking her from me.

"She's mine. You can't take her," I heard Naomi say.
