Chapter 13: Chapter 13
Richard’s POV
Having pulled her into my hands, I felt her arms wrapped around me in a tight embrace as I tried to figure out how I got here.
I never had the intention of getting intimate with Vanessa.
It’s just a hug, chill out big man
I gently removed her from my body and held her face up to wipe off her tears with the back of my hand.
I led her to one of the sofas facing her kitchen directly and sat her down there. Kneeling before her, I looked up to her face and smiled at her. I could swear something happened to me when she smiled back. I just can’t explain the feelings.
“Why didn’t you told me my mom invited you to her restaurant?” I went into the kitchen to fix her something to eat.
“It doesn’t matter, it happened a long time ago” she replied curtly
“Yeah, like I’m the 80s right” she only smiled and gave me a weird look. “What are you doing?” She asked when she saw me cutting some of the vegetables.
“Cooking “I said ignoring her
“I’m not hungry”
“I never said I was cooking for you. I’ve been waiting in front of your door for hours, so I think I deserve some food for my stomach” I lied
“I wasn’t expecting you to be nice, you’re the cruelest person I’ve met in my whole life” she fired back and I could predict what will happen in the next minute; we’ll keep bickering over and over till one of us gets tired or too angry and walk out. But I’ll try my best to prevent that from happening this night.
“I’m not cruel, I’m just strict. You don’t really understand me, do you” She rolled her eyes. “I’m not your mother” I laughed out loud at that.
“Even if you don’t understand me, I could bet it with my whole life that you understand me far better than my mother. Let’s just say I’m not that lucky to have a really good mother. Don’t blame me for not having manners, young lady” She remained silent and didn’t say anything, even after I finished cooking dinner.
After serving the both of us some good food, we ate in silence even though I could see her staring at me with those sapphire blue eyes that’s always taking my breath away.
I was about putting the plates away into the kitchen when Vanessa held my shirt at the back.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” I turned back to see tears rolling down her face. What’s with this water works, I hate it.
“Vanessa, talk to me, what’s wrong?” I pestered and when she looked up, I was torn.
“Promise me nothing will happen to my child even after I’m gone”
“I promise Vanessa, you don’t have to be scared about my mom or any other person from my side, you and the baby will be fine. I’ll protect you both with my life” I wiped her tears for the second time that night before quickly placing my warm lips on her forehead.
“I still can’t believe we’re this civil towards each other” she laughed before taking the plates from me.
“It’s not a surprise to me at all, since it’s you who’s always out to make things difficult” I said and she turned back to glare at me.
“You’re the one who’s always acting like a Barbarian and a vagabond ever since I met you” she said
“Really? I thought it was you who actually wanted to become a baby mama to a vagabond” I fired back
“Get out of my house, I swear to God that I can kill you right now. You think I want to be here like this dude. All you did was throw me into the stupid scheme of yours and get me trapped in between your mom and the rest of your stupid royalty shit” she cursed out
“At least you took the money” I couldn’t believe that came out of my mouth.
“Get out” I picked up my car key and my phone before walking out of the house.
Talk about being civil.
