Chapter 58: Chapter 58
Alfred looked at the woman sitting in front of him. Not that it meant to be rude, but the woman's appearance was too much. The makeup she wore was too thick, not suitable for a simple dinner. Moreover, this was just a blind date arranged by both sides of the family. The woman blatantly put on a condescending face when she saw him and had been staring at her smartphone screen all along with her fingers, which were decorated with nail art that was as messy as her makeup.
'Sorry. My brother is busy, so I replaced my brother.'
The woman looked away. 'Then just go home. I still want to wait for him here as long as I can.'
'He won't be able to come today,' his hands clenched, restraining himself from throwing his fists at the woman at her disrespectful attitude. 'So—'
'Look. It's not that I want to offend you, but you are a lot different from your brother,' the woman scorned his appearance from top to bottom, increasingly eager to increase his desire to punch her right away. 'Your brother is handsome. Financially secure. As for you? I didn't see that from you. But it really looks like you are lousy.'
He took a deep breath, could not bear to hear the scowl that made him angrier and angrier. Finally, he got up from his chair, was about to splash the woman with the glass of red wine that had been on the woman's table for a long time. But someone seized his role, spilling the wine on that woman at once.
'I don't know what's going on here, but it was rude to insult a man who spent his precious time to meet a witch like you.'
He did not flinch when he saw the figure of the woman who had just taken his role standing with a half-disdainful smile at the woman who looked shocked by what he had just done earlier. He had not yet had time to recover from his shock when the woman's hand grabbed his wrist, pulling him away from there after giving the woman a cold smile.
When they were already outside, she released his hands. ‘Sorry. Are you okay?’
‘Yep,’ he touched his hands, all while smiling. ‘Thanks for saving my ass.’
‘No worries,’ she looked glad hearing his answer. ‘Rachel Felicia.’
‘Gerald Tan,’ he answered it without hesitation. ‘Really, I owe you one. So, what should I do to pay it?’
The woman shook her hands quickly, making her look cute in his eyes. ‘You don’t have to—’
‘I insist.’
‘O-oh…,’ she averted her gaze from him, hiding her embarrassment, then looking at him again. ‘I-if it’s okay with you … could you take me on a date?’
When she helped him, she looked cool. But now, she looked cute. Although she seemed older than him.
Gosh … he understood now what was the feeling that began to envelop him right now. ‘I don’t mind. But you need to tell me where you want to go.’
‘Then … Let’s decide while we’re walking.’
‘Fine.’
As he answered it, he took a chance to hold her hands.
