Chapter 52: Chapter 52
It seemed like it was not time for him to die yet.
That was the only conclusion he could think of as soon as he opened his eyes, staring at the completely white ceiling of the room. The sunlight that entered the room through the window of his room made his eyes dazzled. There were many life support devices attached to his body, making it difficult for him to move freely. His breathing was a little short due to the mechanical ventilator to help him breathe. His eyes were fixed on a woman dressed as a nurse who was checking his IV line.
'Mr Cooper? Have you regained consciousness?' the woman turned her body, breathed a sigh of relief when she saw him. His eyes were only fixed on the uniform that was so tightly wrapped around the woman's body, exposing the woman's curves. He did not answer the woman's question, closed his eyes again.
'Wait a minute.'
The female nurse rushed out of his room, leaving him alone. His mind was bringing him back on his fight with Simon. Did he successfully kill the man? What about Verdict? Thyme? Then Edward? Were they all right?
'Afternoon, Mr Cooper. How are you feeling?'
He opened his eyes and turned to find a man in his doctor's coat, stepping into his room, along with several nurses behind him, including the female nurse from earlier. He was silent, ignoring the man's greeting. Let the man check his condition, then asked a nurse, who was standing next to the doctor's right side to record his condition.
'His condition is stable, but still needs to be monitored. Immediately notify the patient's family.'
'Okay.'
The man in the doctor's coat did not say a word to him at all. Just threw a smile of formality, then turned to leave him, followed by the nurses who occasionally turned towards him with shy faces. As soon as the door to the room closed, he looked back at the ceiling of his room. Questioning the reason for staying alive. He thought that once Simon had shot him, he would die. But it did not. Was this what people always called a miracle?
The feeling of fatigue still enveloped his entire body, coupled with the effects of the anaesthesia that still prevailed over him. He closed his eyes, answered his body's invitation that asked him to go back to sleep.

It was only a few moments when he fell asleep when his ears caught the noise from inside his room, disturbing his sleep, which had been quiet before being disturbed by the sound. He opened his eyes to find Edward kicking a man nearly two meters tall in his room, destroying all the furniture in the room where he was treated. Two glasses of glass that fell as a result of Edward's attack, which knocked back the body of the man he was fighting broke instantly, while the electric kettle that emitted hot steam spilt its contents. Not hitting the man who immediately stood up to avoid the hot water, attacked Edward again with a movement that looked wild like a wild animal.
What was happening?
He forced his whole body to move. His hand removed his mechanical ventilator, then focused his gaze on the two men who did not realize that he was awakened by their fight.
None of them spoke. Edward continued to launch attacks on the man who looked familiar. His brain was trying to dig up information about the man as he got out of bed. Releasing the IV tube attached to the back of his right hand drained the blood, which immediately flowed out of the infusion needle.
Ah. He remembered now. Gavin—the man who at that time had attacked him when he was with Edward some time ago. Why was that man in here?
His eyes caught the movement of Gavin's hand as he pulled the dagger out of the back pocket of his trousers as Edward was catching his breath. He looked around. At a time like this, why did not he find a single person come to their room? This commotion should have been more than enough to provoke the hospital staff ...
He did not flinch when his foot accidentally stepped on the hand of one of the male nurses who was lying with a body covered in blood. The nurse's corpse's eyes were bulging, looking so terrifying with a bullet hole in his forehead that instantly killed the nurse. Not only the nurse was killed. There were several nurses and doctors around the bed who also died horribly, just like the nurse earlier. His gaze returned to Gavin, who was now running toward Edward. He immediately grabbed the IV pole, threw it at Gavin, distracting him and Edward at once.
'Are you awake?'
He ignored Edward's question. His body ached because the effects of the anaesthesia had completely disappeared, but he tried to ignore it. His feet quickly moved to avoid Gavin, who was now running towards him while pointing a dagger, elbowing the man's left side, causing the man to scream in pain as he managed to break the man's ribs. The dagger slipped from Gavin's hand. His vision was a little blurry, and he almost hit the floor if Edward did not catch him right away.
'Are you okay?'
'That should be my line, you idiot,' he said while enduring the pain, moving away from Edward. 'When I wake up, my room is full of corpses like this. Everyone must be shocked too, right?'
'You can blame that old guy,' Edward pointed at Gavin, who was growling in annoyance, clutching the mark of the blow earlier. The man's condition looked miserable, filled with beating wounds all over his body. He turned to look at Edward, who was in just as bad a condition as the old man. 'He forced his way into your room, killed all the nurses and guards that Thyme had assigned you.'
'For revenge?'
'You could say that.'
'Wow. Good response,' Gavin managed to stand up, laughed softly as he clutched the side of his stomach that was sore from the blow earlier, picked up the dagger again. 'Don't think I'll let you go after killing my boss,'
'The person you said Boss deserves it,' Edward turned away from Raymond, glaring at Gavin. 'So let me kill you. Or let's assume what happened today did not happen if you choose to leave right now and forget your revenge plan. How about that?'
Gavin clicked his tongue, preparing to run towards the two of them with his dagger in hand.
'Enough. Eat that, Bastard! Don't dare to touch my people more than that!'
There was a familiar voice coming into the room, firing their revolver at Gavin repeatedly, instantly killing Gavin's now fallen figure, gathered with several corpses around him. He and Edward turned their heads to find the figure of Thyme Umberbridge, who had inserted their revolver into their inner coat pocket, then shook their head slowly at the sight in front of them before their eyes before turning to look at the two of them.
'I'll ask my men to clean this mess.' Thyme walked over to him, avoiding the splash of blood that had stained the room. Their eyes stared at Gavin's motionless figure, then spat at Gavin's corpse, full of disgust. 'This is the answer for touching me carelessly at that time. Well, at least I've managed to kill him.'
'Thanks,' said Edward with a sigh of relief.
'No problem.'
Edward turned around, facing him. The man's eyes widened in shock. 'Your wound, Raymond ...'
'Huh?' He reflexively touched his chest, noticing the blood gushing out from the wound, staining his right hand. He laughed softly. 'Ah, this? This is nothing ...'
'I'll call the doctor. Stay there!'
Thyme ran out of the room after saying that, leaving him with Edward, who hugged him as soon as his shaking legs could not bear his weight. It seemed like he was pushing himself too much to move. His vision was blurry before finally becoming completely dark.
