Chapter 85: Chapter 85
THE THANKSGIVING SUNDAY - TWO
Mrs Parker took in the state of Rashid, he looked so messed up, like someone who had been over worrying himself for the past week.
His hair was all tousled and spiky, apart from his grey colored suit, his facial appearance wasn't good at all, yet, Mrs Parker didn't fail to notice that upon everything the man was good-looking.
He had stubbles beneath his jaw like though he hadn't shaved for week and his eyes looked so dark with eyebags beneath it, he looked like he hadn't been sleeping throughout the night.
"Are you sick?", that was the first question that popped out of Mrs Parker's mouth, "Ohhh sorry for asking this, it's not my business but you look so horrible.
Pretty sorry for saying that also", she jabbed.
"It's nothing, I know I have really been stressing myself out", he replied.
"Don't defend yourself, come have a seat boy", she ordered, giving him a warm smile.
Rashid still stood at that particular spot, he was really sorry for not coming on time and now that Mrs Parker had to act all nice to him was actually increasing his guilty conscience.
"I think you would slump in the next five minutes if you don't have a seat, secondly, I am not ready to write any report, so please save me the stress of observing stupid protocols.
If it's Janelle, I think she would come around", she reassured.
His feet seemed to move at that point, because he suddenly moved towards her, and sat down in the seat offered to him by Mrs Parker.
"Thank you Ma", he said.
"Is it for the food I haven't offered your for the water you haven't drank from me?", she retorted.
He smiled, "And I thought you would never smile, so from calculations and observations, I can see you have been the one making my daughter to keep smiling from time to time.
The first time I noticed it, I feared that maybe she was suddenly having mental issues", Mrs Parker said in a matter of fact tone.
"Or rather, giving her tonnes of headache", he added.
"Ohh no, but anyways, you would still have lots of explanations to give me, but for now, I would make you a herbal tea which would actually make you stress free, then I would prepare you a special dinner.
I am sure you would be having dinner with us?", she asked.
"That wasn't meant to be a question, it did sound like one, rather I would put it like this......., you would be having dinner with us, so pull off your coat while I call Diaz to help you hang it", she offered.
"Rashid", he suddenly said.
"Rashid?", she questioned, she furrowed a brow at him as her lips quirked in a questionable manner.
"My name, is Rashid Ma", he continued.
"Ohhh my bad!!", Mrs Parker gasped.
"I forgot to ask you that, I thought maybe, Christ!!!, maybe my spirit just accepted you while heatedly that was why I forgot asking you of your name, nevermind, we would get to that later, but for now....., the herbal tea", she grinned.
"I don't know if i should tell you to expect Janelle's father or not, because that one!!!,.... oops he's an early sleeper, so maybe next time or...., let me check in for him", she said before turning around to leave.
"Mum, you better tell him to leave now!!", Janelle screamed loud enough for Rashid and her mum to hear.
"I forgot to add that Janelle Parker is also a nosy one, you can see that she is up there, yet, her spirit isn't at peace, she wishes that she was down here with us", Mrs Parker laughed.
Rashid joined in the laughter with her, before Mrs Parker left.

"Mum, I told you not to let him in, I told you....,but seriously it isn't funny, I don't like that mum, I sincerely don't", Janelle nagged.
"You know what, you don't have to come downstairs, just act like you don't know him, because right now I act like he doesn't know you, he's cool actually.
Also, I never forced you to come downstairs, you can stay here and do all the sulking you want to do, but when I go downstairs I don't want to hear your loud screams, after all I don't train animals", Mrs Parker warned.
"Is that it?, So where are you taking Dad's tea to?", Janelle asked as she folded her hands beneath her breast.
"I am taking it to the young man that came to visit, he looks so worn out, he would have been in his house taking care of himself, but because he wants to favour someone who is now acting so ungrateful, he has to choose her over himself.
I want to go downstairs and offer him this tea, to help stabilize him a bit, after that we both would have dinner, then I would escort the young man to his car, so he could go home and have a good night rest, so please stay here and sulk all you want", Mrs Parker hushed.
She eyed Janelle warily and wanted to take her leave, "Mum you don't even know his name, how can you let a total stranger into your house?", Janelle questioned.
"Janelle?!!, I am loosing my patience with you, don't make me loose my cool, I don't think you would like the outcome of it", Mrs Parker warned.
"Mum?, he doesn't even respect you and Dad, because if he did, he wouldn't have came late, he is just trying to boss everyone around, he thinks he could just control everyone with his money", Janelle muttered.
"Let me believe I didn't hear you well, and stop consoling yourself with that, you did this with your best friend, Steff, don't let the little people around you who loves you so much to let go of you because of this stupid attitude of yours.
For the fact that he decided to wait until after everyone had gone home shows how responsible he is and how self conscious he is, if it was some random shitty assed niggas, they would have gone home, after all your parents mean nothing to them.
I would suggest you go downstairs and try to ask him what the problem is and not you trying to judge and ditch him over one stupid issue, anyways I don't want to keep the young man waiting, whatever you want to do, you should do.
You are not a toddler anymore", Mrs Parker concluded and left Janelle who she had caught snooping around trying to peek into their discussion.
After Janelle was sure that her mum was already in the sitting room with Rashid, she tiptoed downstairs to the sitting room to check on him, she was peeking from the side of the door.
She confirmed to her mother's words that he wasn't looking good at all, but pride, pride would not let her go talk to him, although she could not grab everything they were discussing, she picked few words from what they were saying.
"She..... will... don't know..., I hope........ come around, thinks like a kid", Janelle hissed quietly at the same time hoping her mum wasn't referring to her as someone that thinks like a kid.

"So thanks for coming, it really means so much to me, I hope you would drop by again", Mrs Parker said.
"Of course, Mrs Parker, I would definitely do that", Rashid assured.
"Wait....., I don't want you to see it as an obligation or duty to come, come in your own free will, but I would be expecting you", Mrs Parker concluded.
"Yeah of course, it was nice discussing with you, Mrs Parker, and er-errem, Janelle, please tell her I am really sorry for disappointing, I was just so busy....", Rashid paused.
"You don't need to, she would definitely come around, I know she would", Mrs Parker confided.
"I hope so", Rashid stuttered, before climbing into his car.
Mrs Parker stood back as she watched the rows of car drive pass her, immediately she walked into the house, she noticed Janelle's window closed shut immediately and her lights of her room went off.
"Nosy kitten", Mrs Parker sighed.
