Chapter 82: Chapter 82

THE THANKSGIVING SUNDAY.

Janelle stood outside the gate as she glanced at her wristwatch for the umpteenth time, yet she had seen no sign of Rashid.

She had called him more than thirty times that morning, at first it was going through, but later it went switched off.

She was perplexed that something bad had happened on his way coming over.

Steff's presence brought her out from her solo thought, "He still isn't around?", Steff asked.

Janelle nodded her head, "He promised me that he would come for the Thanksgiving, if he had earlier given it a second thought and decided not coming, he would have at least told me, instead of me waiting here all day long.

"How is mum preparing?", She questioned.

"E-er-er-eeerm, she is doing well, My parents would be here in five seconds.... one, two, three, four, and finally five", Steff counted, as she winked at Janelle.

The saw a white SUV heading towards their direction.., "Is it them?", Janelle asked.

"Maybe... maybe not.. I haven't seen them in this car, or just maybe they bought a new car", Steff piped.

"Or maybe since we are still standing here, we would see for ourselves", Janelle sighed.

The Black SUV drove and stopped in front of them, Steff peered through to see if it was her parents.

"Ohh yeah", Steff chuckled.

Mrs Douglas came out of the car, passed Steff and went to hug Janelle, "How are you sugar pie?", Mrs Douglas asked referring to Janelle.

Janelle chuckled as she have Steff a sly smile, "I am fineeeeee, it's been long", Janelle whined.

"Yeah I know, your parents just told me on Saturday, which is yesterday about the Thanksgiving Service, while your mum said the news to me, I felt like fisting my hands through the wall and giving her a huge fat punch to her face", Mrs Douglas said.

"That's my typical mum", Janelle replied as she gave into a loud laughter.

"Like... why the fuck, would she be telling me that a day before the Thanksgiving, this is something she would have related to me, last week or at least on Monday, not Saturday", Mrs Douglas complained.

"Mum!!!", Steff groaned.

"So..... where is Steff?", Mrs Douglas asked, feigning ignorance over the fact that her daughter, Steff, stood few steps away from her.

"At your back", Janelle said as she arched a brow.

"Ohhhh, whoopsie, I didn't even get to see her, my bad!!", Mrs Douglas teased as her hands went to her chest and clasped over it.

She turned around, looked up and down, before looking at Steff.

"Whoa, is that you?", Mrs Douglas asked.

"No it's not.... maybe you should go inside the house", Steff sulked.

She went over and gave her a little swat on her arm, before they both hugged.

"Seems like we are having lots of visitors, right?", Mr Douglas asked.

"I think I better get going since no one is going to pay me a bit of attention today", he tittered as he whined down the window of his car.

"Ohh Dad, you should ask mum, that was a bad trait she passed onto me", Steff joked.

The gate-man opens the gate, as Mr Douglas drove into the Parker's House.

"Are we waiting for any specific person?", Mrs Douglas whispered to Janelle's ear, as she noticed how she kept glancing back when they were walking into the house.

"No we were only waiting for you", Steff defended.

"Yeah... I know, like how you always wait for me at home", Mrs Douglas replied sarcastically.

"Mummmm?", Steff drawled.

"Anyways", Mrs Douglas paused as she returned her attention back to Janelle, "If there's someone specific... I promise he is going to come, don't worry, he might be late but he would definitely come", Mrs Douglas reassured her.

"No... Mrs Douglas!!, it's a she", Janelle yelled and Mrs Douglas swore that if Janelle was white... her face would have turned crimson red.

"Whosoever... but I know it isn't a she", Mrs Douglas replied, as she immediately walked ahead of them, she wasn't in the mood for argument.

"The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the sweet fellowship of the holy spirit abide with us, forever and ever... Amen", came the loud voice of the participants who had come for the Parker's Thanksgiving.

"Once again, I thank all of you for honoring our invitation, I am so glad and happy that the turnout was massive", Mr Parker was giving an appreciation speech on behalf of his wife and his children.

"And for the....", Mr Parker was about saying when Rashid stormed in.

Everyone all turned to look at him, at that point, Rashid felt like the ground should open and swallow him.

He growled within himself, as his hands turned to fist, he had disappointed her by coming late, he withdrew as he took three steps backwards and stormed out of the house.

He went back to his car and was contemplating going back home.

"It would be rude, if you are trying to give in to what I am thinking about, don't do that", Dargok, his person bodyguard said.

"Do you really understand?, I am meant to come earlier, she pleaded with me to come, I gave her my word, only for me to go in there to see that they are already done", Rashid groaned.

"That's why you have to take it up as an obligation to wait until the visitors all go, if you should leave just like that, the parents would drop a bad remark of you.

I suggest you wait until everyone has gone, you go to them and talk to them, then maybe later you could sort up things with her, because for sure she would be mad at you", Dargok advised.

"I wish you were there to see the look she gave me, it was self loathing, terrible, I have never felt so bad at myself before today, but how would I tell her that it isn't my fault, how?", he asked rhetorically as his fingers combed through the curls of his hair.

"That's just it Rashid, you only have to apologize, that's all... just wait, calm down and be a good boy, it would go better than you expect", Dargok assented.

Rashid opened the car and went in immediately.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"All the cars parked outside here, who owns all of them, they smell money!!", Mrs Parker exclaimed.
The cars of Rashid was parked outside, his bodyguards were all inside the car, under the orders of Rashid, he had told them to get inside the car.
A black Cadillac SUV, A black La Ferrari, Latest version of a Mitsubishi, An outlander and lastly a Maybach van.
Janelle rolled her eyes, she kept shut, she saw the way all eyes were focused on the cars, they were surely awed by all of them.
"Mr show off", she mumbled.
"Sorry?...", Mrs Parker said, thinking Janelle was talking to her.
"Nothing mum, I was saying we should go back inside", Janelle jibed.
After all their visitors had dispersed, they turned and went inside the house.
Five minutes after they were all seated in their living room, discussion and laughing among themselves, their doorbell rang.
"I would get it", Janelle said hastily.
Mrs Parker looked up at her, "Okayyyy", Mrs Parker drawled.
She went and peered through the loop hole, he was standing outside the house, looking breathtakingly handsome, she swallowed, turned her back and left.
She went back to the living room and sat like nothing happened, "Who was that?", Mr Parker asked.
"Ohhh... that?", Janelle said, fumbling for words.
The doorbell rang again, Diaz stood up immediately and ran to check who it was.
"Hey..", Rashid said, giving Diaz his best smile.
"Good evening, please who are you looking for?", he asked.
"I believe this is the Parker's house", he replied.
"Ohhhh, sorry, if it's about the Thanksgiving celebration, it has ended and everyone has gone", Diaz informed.
"Yeah... I know because everywhere is quiet, can I come in?", Rashid asked.
"Yeah...", Diaz replied
"Shut that door, Diaz, and don't make me angry", Janelle yelled.
"Let him in", Mrs Parker intercepted.
Janelle groaned in protest, "Mumm!!!, but that's my visitor", she badgered.
"It's not your house, it's mine, so I believe anyone who comes here, is either looking for me or your Dad", Mrs Parker bawled.
"Suit yourself", Janelle snapped.
