Chapter 22: Chapter 22
I started counting down excitedly when I was getting off from work, I even went home to remove the picture that had my Dad in it since she already saw him.
"Well someone looks excited." Noah said.
"I have no idea of what you're talking about." I lied.
"Of course you don't." He answered, but didn't push it.
When it was finally six thirty, I waited for Precious to call since she knew I got off by seven even though on a normal day I stayed till almost every other worker except the security guard had gone home.
The call didn't come and my excitement was going down the drain...I didn't want to call her, since she said she was going to hang out with "David" who I still wasn't sure how I felt about him. But again, I didn't have any right over her.
"Just call her." Noah said, as he saw me looking intently at my phone as if it would make any difference.
"No, she might still be out." I said.
"Or she might have forgotten, and are you sure you're okay with her hanging out with him?" He asked...of course I'm not okay, but I didn't have a choice.
"Do you think I should be?" I asked.
"Then just ask her to go out with you and make whatever you two have official." He said.
"I should.." I replied.
At seven, Precious still hadn't called and I figured she was still out with the David guy so when Noah suggested we hit the bar, I didn't argue I just told him okay.
I picked up my jacket, throwing it over my neck I walked out of my office nodding briefly at my secretary who was packing up.
"Can you at least smile a little?" Noah asked as I entered the car.
"Do I have to?" I asked.
"Well, yea you can't follow me looking the way you are right now." He continued.
"Maybe I should get down then." I told him.
"Just Calm down, we're not sure what she's doing now and since you've refused to call her, you wait for her to call you." He finished as he started the car.
We drove to the normal bar we hung out whenever we were free and immediately we entered, heads turned in our direction but I didn't need any of it right now.
"Let's sit over there." Noah suggested.
"Sure why.." I started, but the words got stuck in my throat when I saw a familiar face sitting on one of the seats.
"Isn't that Precious?" Noah asked.
"She is." I answered.
I watched as she laughed freely with him and my heart was broken at the sight even if it had no reason to.
"She looks beautiful." He said and it took everything in me not to smack his head.
She didn't look as though she remembered that she promised someone anything. Suddenly, the boy began to lean in.
"What the fuck?" I heard Noah said, and before I could move, I felt his hand on mine stopping me.
"Let me go, I can't watch her kiss someone else." I murmured, and I'm certain tears would be dropping soon.
"You want to know if you can trust her? Here's an opportunity." He said.
I saw him continue to lean in, but just as his face got close to her own, her hand was on his chest pushing him back and I felt myself breathing again. He looked pained but he covered it with a look of concern.
Still looking at them, a little relaxed that she didn't kiss him. I saw her picking up her bag after staring at her phone for a while. She started moving very fast with the boy behind her but because she wasn't looking at her front, she ran into me and I did not make an attempt to move away or anything.
"Oh shit." She said when she realized it was me.
"Hey Precious." I managed to say as she stared at me.
"Hi." She whispered a little scared.
Lost in what to say, I lifted my hand to scratch the back of my neck but she actually shifted back fearfully.
"Wait...did she think I was actually going to hit her?" I asked myself.
"I'm sorry, I can explain." She said, tears streaming down her face now.
"What the fuck was happening?" I was confused.
"Are you bullying her?" The boy who I'm sure was David asked.
"It's fine, Precious, look at me." Noah said, and she did without hesitation.
We were starting to attract attention to ourselves and it wasn't good for me now.
Noah hugged her, and she wrapped her hands around him without looking at me. Noah led her outside and I followed slowly behind.
"Did she think I was going to hit her?" I kept asking myself over and over again.
David kept asking what we did to her and was threatening he was going to fight us if we did something to her.
"Get out of here." Noah said with a scary face and that shut him up.
"We came together." He argued, when he was a bit composed.
"And I said you should leave." Noah said, and just as he opened his mouth to say another thing, I glanced sharply at him and he kept quiet before murmuring some incoherent threats but who cares.
"It's okay." Noah said to Precious immediately David left.
He was leaning on his car with Precious still in his arms. I'm jealous that she trusted him more than she did me but I also wanted to know why she thinks I would hurt her.
"I'm sorry I ruined your shirt." She told him, but that was the least of his problems.
"It's fine. You want to tell me what's going on?" He asked, while I just stood there.
"I lost track of time, I didn't mean to and I didn't kiss him." She said.
"I know, I saw it but I wasn't going to hit you, I was just going to scratch my neck because I didn't know what to say." I explained.
"You weren't?" She asked, a little surprised too.
"Of course, I wasn't, why would I?" I asked.
"Because I promised to call and I didn't." She answered.
"He wasn't going to hurt you beautiful, you trust me right?" Noah asked and she nodded repeatedly.
"He wasn't going to hurt you, I trust him he'd never." He continued, and I smiled thankfully at him.
"Ok." She replied, looking at me for assurance.
"Can I hug you?" I asked, and I smiled in relief when she nodded.
"I'd never hurt you Angel, I promise." I whispered into her ears as I wrapped my hands around her protectively.
I am going to make her mine, and when I do she'll be mine to protect and to love.
