Chapter 16: Chapter 16
"What are you planning?" Noah asked as we drove back to my office.
"Why do you think I'm planning anything?" I replied with a question.
"Because you're awfully quiet, and you have your poker face on." He said.
"Well you're wrong." I lied.
"I know you're lying and whatever you're planning, count me in." He said, and I wasn't surprised he wanted in.
"I need to do a background check on him, but first I have to know who he is." I told him.
"Done, when you were in with the one." He answered.
Another thing about Noah is that he is a computer guru though he doesn't look like it.
"Can you stop calling her that?" I asked.
"Nope." He replied simply.
I sigh deeply because I didn't know what else to tell him.."what did you find about the man?" I asked.
He went ahead to tell me what I needed to know about the man who got Precious fired. I found out he's married and has kids. it is such a shame that he wouldn't see what I planned on doing coming because he'd be too focused trying to get into the pants of girls old enough to be his daughter.
"What are you going to do?" Noah asked.
"This part of his record says he invested millions into this container and he's expected to cash out big time…." I started.
"You're gonna pull some strings and make sure he doesn't get it." Noah finished.
"Yes." I answered.
"But that means you have to put in your money too." He said.
"I know and that's where you come in, you'll be the one to invest while I look for a way to pull the string so it works in your favor." I explained.
"Ok, I'll get on it right away because we don't have enough time left." He said and I nodded.
I called my other friends who know a lot about it….I wouldn't call it gambling now, just investment would work and they said they'll get back to me in a few hours and I couldn't wait for everything to work out.
I know it has just been over a month that I've known her but she'd warmed her way slowly into my heart but I'll admit that when I saw her at first, I didn't think long term maybe a fling and nothing else but it's different now and I don't intend on letting her go just yet or anytime soon.
"I've done it, remaining your part." Noah said, and I knew I could count on him.
"I'm waiting for their feedback, but it's for you and thanks for helping out." I told him sincerely.
"Of course, anything for a potential sister in-law and it's just wrong to manhandle girls because they're the weaker sex." He said, and he wasn't wrong.
"He'll regret it in a few days, and I'll make sure to leave him a very nice email." I told him with a mischievous smile forming on my face.
"Let me do the honors of writing it." Noah offered which I agreed.
I called Precious later that night when I got home, though she sounded better but it wasn't her normal self. She told me of her plans to look for vacancies so she wouldn't stay idle and I could tell she's an independent person which is another thing I've come to admire about her.
"Why don't you rest for this week and by next week, new opportunities might have opened up for you...who knows,a better one." I told her,and the reason is simple: our new site was already done. The only thing remaining is to hire workers. So by next week, the vacancy sign would be placed outside.
"We'd be low on cash by then and I'm already feeling bad that Comfort is the only one working." She said.
"I'm sure she doesn't mind a week more." I said.
"I know, but it's unfair." She murmured.
"You'd be fine, trust me." I told her.
"How's Noah? Send my regards to him." She said, and I guessed she didn't want to talk about work anymore.
"Apart from his constant annoying behavior, he's fine." I answered, looking at a glaring Noah.
"I'm sure he's an angel and you're just exaggerating." I heard her say and Noah who'd found his way beside me grinned widely.
"Please do tell him I am an angel." Noah said and I could hear her gasp in surprise at the other end as she didn't know he could hear her.
"I'm certain he knows that, he just doesn't want to admit it." She said after composing herself but I snorted ...."Angel my feet."
"The only Angel here is you babe." I said, and she let out a nervous chuckle.
"You're whipped dude." Noah mouthed to me.
The three of us went on talking about different things and it was surprising how she got along with Noah...I wasn't jealous though because I trusted them.
"Goodnight Michael's true….I mean Precious." Noah said, correcting himself after I elbowed him on the stomach.
"Goodnight sugar?" She replied to him and I was confused.
"Huh...why are you calling him sugar?" I asked.
"Because I think he's sweet." She replied.
"Thanks beautiful, I know you're sweet too." Noah said, though I couldn't see her I knew she was blushing.
"And I'm not sweet?" I asked.
"You see,the thing is you're the honey kind of sweet that you want to keep having after tasting it once." She explained and I have a feeling she's talking about the kiss….and damn, she's right I don't think I can get enough.
"This conversation is totally beyond my comprehension, I'm going to sleep." Noah said.
"You didn't tell me he was still there." Precious scolded.
"Well I didn't know you would say anything out of context." I defended myself.
"Goodnight, I'm too embarrassed to keep talking right now." She said, and I started laughing.
"Goodnight Angel." I told her.
After ending the call,I saw that I had a message from my friends I'd called earlier concerning the container, and it says we're on. I told Noah and he was just as happy as me.
I didn't mention anything about it to Precious, she's better off not knowing anything about it.
"She's a nice girl." Noah said as I stood up to leave.
"I know." I replied.
"Maybe she really is the one for you." He said, and coming from him means a lot to me. He's a friend turned brother, he's also really sweet but he didn't get the best parents.
"Thanks man." I said before leaving his room for mine.
