Chapter 9: Chapter 9

I saved her from those rapists, but that doesn't mean anything close to love or anything related to that shit. It's what normal people do to protect girls from perverts who think they can have their way with them against their will.

"So what about those bodyguards you killed along with her so they wouldn't catch her? You were literally becoming her guardian angel all the way back." My vampire beast teased.

"I did that?"

"No, your ghost did." He laughed, and I grit my teeth, increasing my pace towards my room.

I can't believe I really did all that.

What came over me?

"Jaden!" My mother came hugging me as she stepped out of the palace, meeting me in the sitting room just as I was about climbing up the stairs.

"We were worried." She added, pecking my cheek.

"No more worries." Can I go to my room now?"

"Not yet, son." My father cut in, walking out of the palace too.

I sighed, facing him.

"Please, I'm tired and need to rest my head."

"You have a visitor. They had been waiting since you went to that pack with your friend and those spies. They insist on seeing you because they come from a faraway kingdom. Please honor their...

"Fine." I snapped, taking a deep breath, and I saw a huge smile appear on my mother's face.

"Thank you." She beamed, taking my hand as she accompanied me to the palace. I wonder who this visitor was.

"Here he is....." My mother announced it as soon as we entered through the door, and they stood up. A man, a woman, and a girl in between, all dressed in gold royal attire. With their scent, I knew they were vampires too, from other clans.

They were families and were the visitors waiting for me, but what I don't understand is their reason for being here for me because I haven't met them before. Their faces were strange to me.

I sat on the lower throne beside my father, staring expressionless at them as I waited for whatever they had to say.

"Please introduce yourselves. I'm sure he doesn't know you all." My father coaxed, smiling gently.

"The introduction can wait. What are you all waiting for me for?" I interrupted, and their daughter, who actually looked pretty but really appearing as if she was going on a date. Like, I don't understand why she seemed all primped and carefully dressed up.

Her blonde hair was styled in an elegant up-do, and her makeup flawlessly applied, accentuating her natural features. Her skin may had a radiant glow as the result of careful skincare treatments, really opposite from that of the wolf girl I met. She wore a beautiful gold gown, accessorized with elegant jewelry, a matching purse, and shoes and also carry herself with confidence like the princess she was, but I don't care.

The man began...

"We are here because our daughter really wanted to meet you. She had seen you occasionally at the vampire ball ceremony but didn't have the chance to talk or...."

"So?" I cut in again. He became uneasy, and his daughter was already making that sad face, but who cares.

"We discussed with your parents about a family bond. We are the rulers of the Draken clan of the vampire kingdom, clearly the greatest clan after this clan. My daughter has just one wish, and that's to get close to you and be your friend and.. you know... lover. She really loves you, and I can see you both would really match, and our family can bond to become undefeatable and greatest." He explained, saying every word with so much enthusiasm that smiles were dancing on everyone's faces, including my parents

"Are you done talking?" I asked, and he hesitated a bit before nodding.

"Jaden, my name is Celine...I..."

"I can't remember asking you for your name!" I snapped at her, scoffing, before turning back to face her father.

"Please leave with your wife and daughter when you're tired of sitting there. I'm not interested in the nonsense you uttered earlier." I snorted and barged away while my mother kept calling me back.

I can't believe this was the gibberish I wasted my time listening to. Nonsense!

But as soon as I slumped on my bed and shut my eyes, the beautiful and innocent face of that wolf girl resurfaced in my head, clouding my mind. I didn't even ask for her name..

Oh God, what's wrong with me?

I opened my eyes since it seems she creeps into my mind whenever I shut my eyes. As I stared up at the ceiling, I tried to understand her plight

Why was she locked in the royal packhouse, which made her sneak out to taste a little freedom? How did she sniff out my real scent? No normal wolf can do that. Impossible!

Now the most difficult question to answer is why I was fucking soft with her. The sound of her voice was just so soothing and won't even allow me hurt her in the slightest. Her blue eyes were just like magic spell keeping me bound.

It is unreal. She was unbelievable. She was not the most beautiful girl I had met, but there was just something about her that made my heart forget how to beat normally.

When we looked into each other's eyes, I saw pain. I saw a soul that craved peace and love from even just one person. She was like a baby who was denied a cradle by her mother.

I wanted to hold her gently and be the shoulder she would lean on. I badly wanted to hear her tell me about her pain, but I just couldn't. When those men gathered around her, I couldn't mind my business. Her screams cut through my heart like a sharp knife and before I could blink twice, I found myself jumping out of my hiding place and butchering those men like chickens.

This was the first time I had ever fought for a girl. The first time I ever felt real care for a lady, and it's so unbelievable to know the girl was a werewolf, my enemy.

"We have to meet her again." My vampire beast broke in, and I growled in annoyance.

"Just stop talking to me when I'm having a serious thought! I don't need your opinion." I hissed and rolled to the other side of my bed, facing the wall.

I don't know how to love anymore. I don't want to hear that word, and my heart and soul are against it. No lady will ever have the chance to win my heart. No one should be my weakness, because that would be the beginning of my downfall.

"The only way out is to kill that werewolf girl..." My beast muttered, and it was like cold water splashed all over me as I shuddered at what he just said, chills running down my spine.

"Kill who?" I gasped, sitting abruptly up from my bed as the words hit me hard like a bomb.

"I don't know, but we are drawn to her like a magnetic force. She is stuck in our minds, and her eyes are really the prettiest thing we have gazed upon."

"Shut up!!!" I roared, leaving the bed and turning to the mirror, placing my hands on the table as I stared at my reflection.

"We have to stop talking or thinking about her. Just forget everything about her. We saw how this so-called love destroyed my cousin and how it took the life of my father's right-hand man. We have other things to think about, not some random girl who we saved from rape. She was just lucky." I breathed and headed over to the bathroom to clean up. Maybe after bathing, I would be able to sleep, and by tomorrow, she must have vanished from our minds.

********

I was almost getting to sleep when Jake came knocking and called out my name. It was almost midnight, but everywhere was brightened by the moon, which was full and shining, illuminating the earth.

"What is it?" I grunted as I opened the door, only to see him dressed up.

"Today is the full moon festival of the werewolves. I know you hate going there, but your father pleaded that we seize this opportunity to find out how much they let their guards down at a moment like this. It's very important that we spy again and know if this festival period would be the most appropriate time to ambush and take over a werewolf pack." He explained, rushing his words.

"You know I'm already sleeping, right?" I frowned, and he exhaled.

"I'm sorry. My bad. Your dad didn't ask me to inform you. He knows you are tired and might be sleeping." He sighed, and I arched my brows at him.

"So why did you come here to disturb me then?" I hissed.

"Sorry, I was being stupid." He replied, staring at me somehow as he took a few steps back, his face filled with a questioning look.

I hissed again and went in, about to close the door, when it clicked in my head.

Fuck!

I rushed out and yelled his name as he was almost out of the hallway.

He ran back.

"Is it the same pack we went to this afternoon?" I asked, and he nodded.

"I'll cut your throat if you leave without me!" I shouted, dashing in and dressing up so fast that I ended up wearing my shirt twice because I wore the back mistakenly.

"I knew you would want to see her again." He teased, and I slapped his mouth gently.

"Learn to shut up sometimes." I rolled my eyes, and he laughed as we both hurried out. My heart was racing for a reason I really couldn't understand. I thought I had shoved her out of my head.

It's clear something is wrong with me. No doubt. I just kicked away that vampire princess only to be this excited to meet a wolf slave who should be my enemy.

Remember when I told that wolf girl that she had mental issues? I think I'm the one who really suffers from that.
