Chapter 36: Chapter 36

Meanwhile when Courtney left the dining area, Ben was every anxious and wanted to be there for her and check her condition. He made an excused to use the bathroom just to follow her but he failed. He just hoped that it turns out okay after the father and daughter settle their issues. Ben was still on his own thoughts when Arianna called him by the hallway.

"There you are! I thought you get lost going to the rest room." She found him standing.

"I almost did but thank God one of your maids directed me the right way." Ben lied.

"That’s a relief.” She placed her hand on her heart.

“By the way your house is stunning Arianna, marvelous landscape outside too.” He never forgets to compliment how nice the residence.

“Thank you for that, it was me who designed it to be honest.” She informed proudly.

“Wow that’s wonderful.” Ben praised her again.

“Anyway I'm sorry for my husband's behavior Ben." Mrs. Montini knew it was right to the young man.

"I understand Arianna you don't have to apologize. He was just protecting Courtney from any guy who wanted to take her daughter away." Ben was surprised that answer came out natural.

"Oh I remember you mentioned Zac, I wanted to know if you still have contacts with him and the kids?" She raised an eyebrow.

"They are all doing great last time I heard Zac already got their Company back. The kidnappers and the mastermind behind the death of Marie’s husband are all in jail now." Ben informed her.

"That's great to hear at least everything is back in order now." Her face somehow lights up after that.

"Yes I'm glad they resolved the case sooner than we all expected it to be." Ben smiled.

"Going back to my daughter I'm still curious why you didn’t tell me on our first meet about your plan of getting married, I could’ve convinced my husband more that way you way." Mrs. Montini is very observant.

Courtney's right he is really going to get grilled tonight but he don't mind since they already rehearsed this and only whatever the y throw his way he can answer it as honest as possible.

"Forgive me for not mentioning about it during our first meeting; we just thought it would be best if both of her parents are present. I don’t want to let your husband think that we are overstepping his decision. As a man, I respect him and his say to everything.” Ben stated.

“It was nice of you to think about my husband in spite how he rudely treats you.” Mrs. Montini complimented Ben’s attitude.

“All thanks to my grandparents who made sure me and my brother are raised well.” Ben gave out a bit of his life.

“Grandparents? I hope you don’t mind me asking about your parents.” Mrs. Montini became curious.

“My mother had hard time coping up when my father died so she left us, but don’t take it the wrong way my brother and I have forgiven her.” He thought it would be best to say that instead

“That must be hard for you and your brother but I am glad things are working out good with your mother now.” Mrs. Montini smiled.

“Yeah we are now in good terms now.” Ben assured her.

“Enough about that heavy conversation, let’s discuss your engagement with my figlia. Are you sure about this? I mean I am not against you I just hope you’re not doing this because of the spur of the moment." She changed the topic since it’s too personal and emotional for Ben.

Ben needs to find a logical explanation otherwise Courtney will dig his own grave. This is a torture for him and his nerves are shaking but he put up a fearless expression.

"I know it's a sudden decision but the day I met her I knew she's the one. It's like love at first sight do you believe in that saying Signora Arianna?" Ben gave a very convincing tone.

"I could relate to that because I ended up being Montini after all." Mrs. Montini confidently answered.

“Like mother like Daughter." Ben commented.

"You could say that; everything about her is a split image of me but the stubbornness and arduous attitude definitely not from my genes.” Mrs. Montini agreed while smiling.

“I totally agree with that.” Ben chuckles as he remembered how Courtney can be difficult sometimes.

“If you can keep up with that behavior then I guess you really love my daughter that much. I just hope that love will not fade just but instead make that as your strength to stay together.” Mrs. Montini couldn’t help but analyze his answers and how we acts towards Courtney.

"I love her so much and it will be my honor to have your blessings and I know it will also make Courtney very happy." Ben was such a great actor.

Ben thought to himself how convincing that answer is but at the back of his mind, part of it are true.

“Ben I wanted to ask this and please be honest.” Mrs. Montini became solemn after a while.

“Sure Signora.” He gave the old woman to continue.

“I am aware that you and Courtney are somehow living together at her place, so I want you to tell me the truth okay?” She paused and took a deep breath.

“I will do my best to answer your question will full honesty.” He gave an oath.

“Is Courtney pregnant?" Mrs. Montini questioned almost chocked Ben.

"Your daughter is --" Ben couldn't finish the sentence because it was cut off.

"What a joy! I knew it! I'm going to be a grandmother!” She exclaimed.

“Ariana, it’s not --.” Ben tried to butt in but Mrs. Montini is over the moon.

“Wait, are you getting married because of the unborn child?" Mrs. Montini anticipated.

Ben was now in dipshit because Mrs. Montini thinks he got her daughter pregnant. Courtney will definitely kill him as soon as she gets back and he doesn’t know how to stop the mother who seems to be oblivious of the information he was to say.

“Of course not like what I said I love Courtney so much—” Ben tried his best to explain.

“Oh my goodness! My figlia is pregnant!” Mrs. Montini continued again.

Ben was on the verge of screaming to catch the attention of Mrs. Montini who is very excited. He opened his mouth to do when suddenly a guest appeared by the dining hall with shock written on the face.
