Chapter 475: Chapter 475

"I’ve never seen a man with such arrogance; truly fascinating. Well then, I’ll just have to play along patiently with you."

Vanessa said, putting away the food she had brought.

"There’s a rumor that the First Commander of the Federation Empire is a god-like figure. Let’s see how long a god-like man can last without food."

"I’ll come see you tomorrow. I’m looking forward to it," Vanessa blew a kiss through the air towards Mu Yunlie, then turned and sashayed away.

Mu Yunlie coldly watched Vanessa’s retreating figure.

As soon as Vanessa left, he closed his eyes, trying hard to mobilize his spiritual power.

Outside, Yan Qianyi searched around the abandoned laboratory, but saw no one.

"Xiao Hei, have you detected anything unusual?" Yan Qianyi asked Xia Ziyu.

She had gotten used to calling him that during their operations.

She searched high and low, upstairs and downstairs, but found no one.

Xia Ziyu said, "The thermal imaging scan didn’t reveal any human presence either. Are you sure Vanessa came in here?"

"I’m certain. If you hadn’t contacted me just now, I would have followed her in."

"But now, after searching the entire building, there’s not a single person."

Yan Qianyi bit her lip, pondered for a moment, then her eyes lit up, "I know!"

"What do you know?" Xia Ziyu asked.

Yan Qianyi didn’t answer and quickly headed downstairs.

"What exactly do you know?" Xia Ziyu pressed.

"Shh, don’t talk just yet."

Yan Qianyi stood in a dark corner, carefully listening to the sounds around her.

Having searched the entire building with no one to be found meant there had to be an underground chamber.

Though she wasn’t sure where the entrance to the basement was, Vanessa would have to come out eventually, and she could simply wait outside.

Xia Ziyu closed his mouth and quietly followed Yan Qianyi’s gaze, observing any movements on their side.

After a few minutes of silence, there suddenly came a "creak" sound.

Yan Qianyi immediately headed towards the source of the sound, discovering a beam of light there.

It was Vanessa, who was walking out of an underground door with a flashlight.

Yan Qianyi observed the surroundings a bit more to ensure no one else was there, then she quietly approached Vanessa.

Realizing there was a disturbance behind her, Vanessa quickly turned around on guard.

But it was too late, as the cold barrel of a gun was already pressed against her temple.

Vanessa stiffened, looking at the woman in front of her dressed in a black bodysuit and wearing a cat mask, and asked calmly, "Who are you?"

Yan Qianyi chuckled lightly, "Not bad for the Morris Empire’s number one diplomat, so composed."

Vanessa also smiled, "You must have been tracking me for quite a while to find this place. You’re quite skilled yourself."

"Thanks for the compliment," Yan Qianyi tilted her chin up, "Come on, lead the way down to your secret."

Yan Qianyi could see she was mulling something over and warned, "Don’t play tricks on me. I already know where the entrance is. Killing you wouldn’t stop me from going down. So if you don’t want to die, just lead the way obediently."

She didn’t know what was below in the underground chamber and wasn’t sure if there were more of Vanessa’s people.

Making Vanessa walk in front would be a precaution.

"Don’t scare people, I’ll take you down," Vanessa cooed.

As the top diplomat of the Morris Empire, Vanessa was very adept at reading the situation.

She could tell her captor was ruthless and had no choice but to comply.

Under the muzzle of Yan Qianyi’s gun, Vanessa walked back, opened the entrance to the underground passage, and stepped down.

Yan Qianyi followed closely behind Vanessa, keeping the gun at the back of her head.

The long staircase led underground, turning twice before arriving at the door of a room.

Vanessa stopped in her tracks.

Not knowing whether there was an ambush inside, Yan Qianyi didn’t make a peep, nudging Vanessa’s head with the barrel of her gun.

Vanessa extended her hand to push open the door and walked in.

Just as Yan Qianyi was about to follow, Vanessa, who was right in front of her, was quickly brought down by someone hiding beside the door inside.

Vanessa was completely stupefied.

She had no idea how Mu Yunlie had freed himself from the binds of spiritual power.

She looked on in astonishment at Mu Yunlie, who had regained his freedom and put his mask back on, her face a picture of shock.

That device was supposed to limit his spiritual power, yet he had managed to escape on his own without any external help!

Mu Yunlie’s hand gripped Vanessa’s throat, his voice fierce, "You should have heard that those who see my true face must die!"

Vanessa, terrified, bulged her eyes and opened her mouth to speak, but no sound came out.

Only in this moment did she realize the terrifying man she had provoked.

The rumors were indeed true...

Yan Qianyi, standing at the door, was also somewhat dazed.

She had thought Vanessa’s people would be inside, not expecting Vanessa to be the first to be attacked.

She looked at the man who had Vanessa pinned to the ground.

He was clothed in the proud attire of a Commander, adorned with the Federation Empire’s national emblem.

And that fierce, menacing face mask...

"Lord!" exclaimed Yan Qianyi in surprise.

Mu Yunlie paused for a moment, his gaze swiftly shifting to her, only then noticing another person at the door.

It was the Catwoman he had been investigating!

Seeing the fierce look in the Lord Chief Commander’s eyes, Yan Qianyi hastily declared, "I’m on your side!"

Mu Yunlie’s expression wavered slightly, the currents swirling deep in his eyes.

He had always suspected that the Catwoman was his little thing.

His scrutinizing glance swept over the Catwoman, noticing beneath her tight suit the slight bulge of her belly that was hard to conceal.

Mu Yunlie immediately let go of Vanessa, whom he had been ready to throttle.

Although Yan Qianyi didn’t know his identity, she was pregnant, and he didn’t want her to witness the bloody side of things.

Vanessa, now released, curled up in pain, coughing violently.

Yan Qianyi stepped forward excitedly, "Lord, where is Ah Lie? Isn’t he with you?"

Mu Yunlie’s eyes softened slightly.

Realizing her slip of the tongue, Yan Qianyi explained, "I mean Mu Yunlie, I was entrusted by someone to rescue him!"

Suppressing the urge to move forward and embrace Yan Qianyi, Mu Yunlie said in a deep voice, "Go outside and wait, and close the door."

His voice was much gentler than it had been just before.

Yan Qianyi immediately backed out and shut the door.

She always subconsciously carried out the orders of the Lord Chief Commander at once.

Once Yan Qianyi had left, Mu Yunlie’s gaze instantly turned cold again, turning to Vanessa, "You’ve lost."

Vanessa scrambled to her feet, retreating backward in fear from his gaze.

"You... you can’t kill me, I saved you! If it weren’t for me, you’d already be dead at Dempsey’s hands!"

Mu Yunlie gave a harsh, sardonic smile.
