Chapter 14: Chapter 14

Ryan POV

I watch her at the club. I know that is her. Fallon looks exactly like her mother. When Gina called me and told me that she and Sandy saw Fallon or someone who looked like Fallon at a gas station heading toward New Orleans, I knew she would be looking for the Z brothers if it was her.

Fallon snuggles into Bruce. He holds Fallon's hand and occasionally kisses her hand. Bruce is not good for her. He is not what she needs. It is my job to watch over her and to protect her. It looks like he is only trying to get into her pants.

I have to warn her about the danger waiting for her here. I approach the table. I stand over Bruce. Fallon looks up at me. Damn, she is scared of me. I do not want her to be afraid. I will protect her no matter what.

Bruce speaks to me in the old language. "Get out of here. We do not need you or your kind here," Bruce demands.

I laugh in his face and slam my hand down on the table. "Remember it is I that saved your life, Bruce. I am here for her, to protect her and tell her the truth, not the watered-down version that you will give her," I say.

Bruce looks at Fallon and then back at me.

"Hi, I am Fallon," Fallon says. Her voice is low and scared. She will soon be a warrior and scared of no one, but she has not found her magic yet. Soon, she will embrace her destiny. I will make sure of it.

"I know who you are; that is why I am here. I am here to watch and keep you safe. It is my job," I say.

Bruce begins to get offensive. "She stays with me. The Lycans no longer have a claim to the reapers," Bruce says, still speaking in the old language.

"That is all she is to you. She is your claim!" I scream at him.

I should take Fallon away from her, even if it is against her will, and tell her the truth. I reach across the table. I can quickly put Bruce down. No, that will scare her. I look behind me and see two security guards and Dee coming my way. It is best if I go with them. Soon, Fallon, I will tell you everything the watchers are hiding.

I leave the club only because I allow them to throw me out. Dee and her security guards are no match for me. Bruce is no match for me, either. I had put him down plenty of times when we were training to be keepers and watchers for the reapers. Not anymore. His kind pushed the Lycan and the wolves out for their personal gain. Bruce knows he is in the wrong, and I will show Fallon who Bruce really is.

I wait down the street, watching. I stay in the darkness of the alleyways and corners. I know Bruce probably got a hotel that supernatural watchers run, so that would be either the hotel on Conti or Royal. I am betting Royal because it is closer to the Z brother's magic shop.

While I wait, I see another former friend that is now on the side of Umbra. Umbra really screwed over most of the Lycan and Wolves, except a few. One of them being Chaos. Chaos is Umbra's personal errand boy. Chaos does anything Umbra asks, and I bet he is spying on Fallon for Umbra.

Umbra does not want to help Fallon. She wants to make sure Fallon becomes a reaper and sides with her. If Fallon sides with her, then Umbra is the most powerful being in the world. Why? Because Umbra will have all the reapers under her to do her bidding. If Umbra decides she does not like someone, then she sends a reaper to kill them.

There are other reapers other than Fallon, but Fallon will be the most powerful, and she will lead the other reapers. If Fallon doesn't fall in line with Umbra and becomes a reaper on her own, then Umbra will be left without her little group of minions, and Fallon will rule over all of the supernatural world. I wonder how much of this Bruce knows. I bet he knows it all.

I watch as Chaos meets up with Bruce and Fallon. I will wait; give Chaos time to piss someone off. I need to speak with Fallon alone, but if I have to talk to her with Bruce, then I will. Maybe I can talk some sense into him too. I doubt it, but I could try. We were friends at one time, before Umbra.

I walk inside the hotel. I look around for a moment and see a sign for a hotel bar. I bet that is where they went. Chaos loves to drink. I can watch the bar entrance from a corner by the elevator. I will follow them into the elevator when they come out and convince Fallon to talk to me.

I wait for at least thirty minutes. I hear footsteps. That was fast. I look up from the hidden corner and see her. It is Fallon, alone without Bruce or Chaos. I wait to see if either of them follows her, but they don't.

Fallon swipes her key card and gets onto the elevator. Why am I waiting? I rush to the elevator, and just as it closes, I put my arm inside the door, stopping it from closing. The door opens as a safety measure. Fallon looks at me. She is not afraid.

"Ryan," Fallon says.

I step onto the elevator.

"We have to talk. I am not here to hurt you. Chaos might be, but not me. I am here to protect you," I say.

Fallon hits the three on the already glowing elevator button. "I know you are not going to hurt me. I can sense that you are a friend," Fallon says.

"Good. How long do we have before Chaos and Bruce come up?" I ask.

Fallon growls. She sounds like an angry wolf, and I find it comical. "I do not trust Chaos. I don't want to be around him," Fallon says. Her face is red, and she is furious. Chaos has a way of pissing off everyone.

"Chaos is a jerk. He has a way of making everyone around him angry," I say.

The elevator door opens on the third floor. We get off the elevator and walk down to her room. Room 333 that is odd. I look at her and the door number. "Does this number mean anything to you?" I ask her.

Fallon looks at the room number and then back to me. "I see that number all the time, but I am not sure. Why?" Fallon asks.

"We have to go. You are in danger here, Fallon," I say to her.

The elevator door dings, and I look behind us. It is Bruce and Chaos. "She is not going anywhere. She belongs to us," Chaos says.

Bruce's eyes have changed to dark grey. The darkness has him. "Do you trust me?" I ask Fallon.

"I have no choice," Fallon says, looking back at her friend.

I shift into my Lycan form, and then bend down. "Get on my back," I tell her.

Fallon quickly moves onto my back, and I run down the hall to the stairs. "HOLD ON!" I scream at Fallon.

I am able to move between the stairs and land on the bottom floor. I go out the stairwell door and into the parking garage. I run until we reach the edge of the french quarter. I kneel down and let Fallon slide off of my back.

"Where are we?" Fallon asks.

"Your real home. Let me take you to meet your real family," I say.
