Heroes' Prison Chapter 83

"Good day, sir. How may I assist you?" As soon as Huang Yi entered the Magic Shop, a greeter approached him with a beaming smile.

"Show me the best Magic Potions and Scrolls you have here," Huang Yi quickly said, his tone filled with urgency.

"Please take a look!" The greeter seemed to know Huang Yi was in a hurry and immediately took out a list from his storage ring and handed it to Huang Yi.

The list was densely packed with the names of magic items, divided into potions, scrolls, and special items.

Potions generally provide beneficial effects for players; for instance, the Life Recovery Potion restores a certain amount of Health Points within 10 seconds of use; the Strength Boost Potion adds a certain percentage to Strength; the Critical Hit Potion increases the Critical Hit Rate by a certain amount... The more powerful the effect of the potion, the shorter its duration tends to be, and naturally, the price is higher.

Scrolls, on the other hand, take effect instantly. For example, the Resurrection Scroll allows a player to Resurrect in Place without having to return to camp, should they die without the option of Reincarnation, though they will still lose one Level. The Intermediate Fireball Technique scroll contains a sealed spell of an Intermediate Fireball... Some professions that cannot cast spells can use these scrolls to unleash the Spell Skills inside. There are over a hundred different Magic Scrolls on the list, but the majority of them have just average effects and lack large-scale spell scrolls.

The third category of Magic Items is rather special, with a dizzying array of choices. For example, the Whetstone, when used on a weapon, sharpens it for a certain period, increasing the weapon’s Attack Power; the Enchantment Potion, when applied to equipment, temporarily enhances its Attributes...

Huang Yi swiftly went through the list and, based on his own needs, selected a batch of Magic Items with effects ranging from low to high. He spent 600 Gold Coins like water flowing out.

After making the purchases, Huang Yi hurried off to the Arena, ready to implement the fourth step of his plan—observing the Racial Skill of the Half-Beastmen!

Previously, when Huang Yi was a Spirit Cat, he learned the skills of the Spirit Cat by observing the combat of a mother cat. Now that he had evolved into a Half-Beast, theoretically, he should still be able to learn the Racial Skill of the Half-Beast through observation.

There were some differences, however. For example, whereas the Spirit Cat possessed four skills, the Half-Beast had only one Racial Skill. Furthermore, some skills of the Spirit Cat had proficiency levels that could be improved upon maxing out, whereas the Racial Skills of the 100 Races did not have this concept of proficiency levels.

Soon, Huang Yi arrived at the Arena in Thornbush City. Inside the city, fighting was not allowed, with the Arena as the sole exception. It offered a fair place for duels, where those with grudges could engage in PK (Player Killing), or those who wanted to spar could rent a platform for a match. As such, it was an incredibly lively spot, drawing a large number of fighters.

Huang Yi looked around for a while inside and soon found a Half-Beast Player standing in front of a platform, watching someone else’s duel.

Huang Yi immediately went over and tapped the shoulder of the Half-Beast Player.

The Half-Beast had been enjoying the fight when suddenly someone tapped him, and he turned around, irritated, staring at Huang Yi.

Huang Yi directly took out 10 Gold Coins and handed them to him, saying, "Go find an empty platform and release the Racial Skill of the Half-Beast. These 10 Gold Coins are yours."

The Half-Beast, initially angry, was taken aback upon hearing this but then nodded immediately. Getting 10 Gold Coins just for using his Racial Skill once was indeed a good deal.

Next, Huang Yi and the Half-Beast Player found an empty platform. The Half-Beast Player nodded at Huang Yi, signaling that he was about to use the Racial Skill—

Huang Yi watched intently, ready to observe and learn!

The next moment, the Half-Beast Player extended his hand and rubbed his nose.

Then, he leaped off the platform and walked away with a nonchalant air.

Huang Yi looked on as the Half-Beast Player drifted away, puzzled, when suddenly the system gave him a prompt:

[System Prompt]: You observed the [Tracking Scent] of the Half-Beast, and have learned the skill. This skill can only be used in Half-Beast form.

[Tracking Scent]: Allows you to detect the whereabouts of your enemy based on their scent, with no cooldown time. Upon switching targets, the scent impression of the previous target is automatically lost. After two days, the scent of the target automatically expires.

So this was the Racial Skill of the Half-Beast! To think that all it took for activation was a simple nose rub!

This skill also solved a mystery that had long lingered in Huang Yi’s mind. After avoiding Man Lie’s pursuit in Wind Forest Stronghold, he had remained out of his enemy’s sight range. Logically, Man Lie should have had no way of tracking him down, but later the enemy managed to locate him precisely, almost killing him.

Huang Yi had been puzzled about how Man Lie discovered his whereabouts, but now, after seeing the Racial Skill of the Half-Beast, it all became clear.

Huang Yi left the Arena and rushed towards the Teleportation Field. Now that all his preparations were complete, it was time to start the actual battle!

He teleported back to the same 20th-floor room he had been in before. Some of the minor monsters had already been cleared by him, but there were still many left blocking his path, snarling in the darkness.

He immediately took out a yellow Potion from his storage ring, opened his mouth, and drank it down. It was the lowest-level Attack Potion that could increase Attack Power by 1%. Though the effect was minor, it lasted for a long time, up to a half-hour.

Next, Huang Yi took out a fist-sized Whetstone and lightly touched it to his Wolf Fang Club. Subsequently, the Club’s Attack Power increased by 50 points, lasting for half an hour.

After that, Huang Yi used several more Magic Items in succession, all of the lowest level, but with long durations.

With all of this done, Huang Yi began to clear the minor monsters blocking his path. With so many Magic Items enhancing him, his cleaning speed was significantly faster.

The labyrinth scenario was quite different from the garden. The labyrinth was full of narrow corridors, with no way to avoid the minor monsters; one had to fight through. In contrast, the garden was much more open; some minor monsters could be bypassed, and even two or three bosses could be avoided without a fight. Only in very tight spots where there was no way around did clearing become necessary.

After an hour, Huang Yi finally cleared the minor monsters with difficulty and arrived at the first boss, a mandatory path. To encounter the second boss, he had to waste time killing this first boss.
