Heroes' Prison Chapter 117
It seems that the quest to find Slark’s homeland won’t be as simple as I had imagined.
Huang Yi closed his journal and placed it in his storage ring, then looked up at the bright moon in the sky. That moon, from ancient times to the present, had always risen and set with such tranquility. It had shone upon countless generations and witnessed the rise and fall of many histories across the continents. If the moon could speak, it surely could tell him the location of that oasis.
After pondering for a moment with no particular clue, Huang Yi decided to log off and check the forums.
Upon entering the forums, what caught his eye were the latest posts, each one appearing every second. In this vast ocean of forums, countless experiences, knowledge, and stories converged. Huang Yi came here because this was the most extensive database of The Second World, to see if he could find any information related to Slark’s homeland.
First, Huang Yi entered two keywords: "Desolate Sands" and "Dandelion Oasis."
The powerful system immediately filtered through countless posts and listed all the matching ones, totaling over three hundred pages.
Huang Yi looked at the first post, the title read—
"How beautiful is The Second World! I was lost in the Desolate Sands when I suddenly saw dandelions filling the sky!" This player had uploaded some beautiful photos of a place resembling an oasis, thriving with flora and dandelions floating everywhere, each one incredibly lovely.
Huang Yi scrolled down to read the content of the post. The author originally walked through the Desolate Sands but suddenly saw a city and tried to approach it, only to realize after a long trek that it was just a Mirage Illusion. By then, he was lost, and without realizing it, he had stumbled upon a dandelion oasis and took these screenshots.
Huang Yi wanted to send a message to the poster to ask for further details, but he couldn’t do that. The friend system in the forums was tied to The Second World, and without the person’s player card, he couldn’t send a message.
Left with no other options, Huang Yi moved on to the second post, and then the third...
After looking through many posts, nearly all the authors had accidentally gotten lost in the desert before they stumbled upon the Dandelion Oasis; not one mentioned a specific route or how to get there.
After some thought, Huang Yi changed the keywords to "Slark’s homeland."
With this search, hundreds of thousands of pages of posts popped up! Huang Yi gritted his teeth and started going through them one by one.
"Slark’s homeland—The Sea of Death!" When he saw those words in the first post, Huang Yi already had little hope but still clicked to read more.
"Today, when fighting on the 22nd floor of the Tower of Pantheons, our team looted a precious piece of Purple Gear! This gear, dubbed the ’Murloc Nightcrawler’s Gauntlets,’ is part of a purple set! But I’m too poor to afford the auction and can only drool over the attributes. I noticed that in the item description of this equipment, it mentioned a great Murloc hero named Slark. I happened to work part-time at the library and have done some research on history. So I went to look up the history of the Murloc Race and finally discovered the deeds of Slark in an ancient scroll. Slark was quite remarkable, and his hometown lies at the bottom of the Sea of Death..."
Upon reading this, Huang Yi frowned. The Sea of Death seemed to be where Slark went after becoming a murloc, not his hometown when he was still human. Obviously, the author of the post didn’t gather such detailed information and assumed the Sea of Death was Slark’s homeland.
Huang Yi continued to read on.
"The Sea of Death is almost a nightmare for us. Between the exclusive continents of China and Japan lies the Sea of Death, and countless players have tried to cross it, only to be buried in the endless waters. So far, only one person in the entire world has successfully crossed the Sea of Death, and that’s Thunder God, a Chinese player. Thunder God was reincarnated on the Japanese Mainland and later miraculously crossed the Sea of Death at level 45 to return to China. Since Slark resided in such a dangerous place, his nest must be untouched, and as a great Murloc hero, there must be countless treasures within. I think players like Thunder God, who possess a wealth of ocean knowledge, belong to a Water Attribute Race, and have immense strength, might as well buy some top-level Goblin Diving Equipment and dive deep into the Sea of Death in search of Slark’s homeland, looking for its treasure. Such a great hero as Slark must have Legendary Equipment! If Thunder God gets the Legendary Equipment, it will surely trigger an announcement, making him the first player to obtain Legendary Equipment, adding to the National Honor Points of China..."
After reading this player’s post, Huang Yi shook his head slightly. The player made it sound easy, just diving down to grab some treasure. But the ocean floor is completely different from the sea surface, where the dangers above pale in comparison to those in the depths. Huang Yi had experienced the depths in Bai Long Lake, where everything was pitch black, and unknown powerful monsters roamed the dark depths, barely showing scales and claws, their shapes indiscernible. Such monsters were far beyond what current players could contend with. Thunder God’s crossing the Sea of Death didn’t mean he could also dive to the bottom. Legendary Equipment is just a beautiful wish, too ethereal, too elusive. Even with over five thousand heroes’ fates in his hands, Huang Yi still hadn’t obtained any Legendary Equipment, which required tremendous effort and unimaginable sacrifices.
Next, Huang Yi continued to diligently search through the endless threads in the forum. However, what he was looking for was too high-end, involving an ancient hero like Murloc Nightwalker Slark. At this stage, players really had no valuable clues to offer, and Huang Yi found nothing after a long search. The location of that dandelion-filled oasis within the Desolate Sands remained unknown.
Huang Yi felt hungry and decided to log off and eat something.
Just then, a striking sticky announcement suddenly appeared in the forum—The Second World Annual Festival!
He immediately clicked on it to read the announcement—
"Dear player friends, the annual The Second World Festival is about to commence once again. This year’s festival will be held on June 5th in Los Angeles, USA. We will review all players’ performances over the past year and present a range of awards. The event will be attended by leaders from over two hundred countries and regions, along with many film and entertainment stars."
