Chapter 55: Chapter 55

Scarlett peered through her room door as her friends created a plan to save Erin. She did not know how to always get away from her companions.

She checked her watch and her phone, then noticed the Jaguar had sent her another message.

“Damn it,” she muttered as she shut the door to her room and walked around in front of her bed, unsure of what to do.

Dominic may follow her wherever she goes when she leaves her room because she knows her ex-husband will interfere with what she does.

“What the f-ck is he doing here? TSK!”

Scarlett stomped in annoyance as she lay down on her bed, unable to move because her ex-husband was here. Dominic’s stubbornness can have terrible outcomes.

She was running out of time and couldn’t wait to see Erin.

Scarlett sighed and stood from her bed to leave her room. She only needs to plan her escape from her cousin.

“Oh, Scarlett? We have a plan! Want to hear it?”

Everyone was staring at her, so she just raised her eyebrows and drank some water to hide the fact that she wasn’t paying attention.

“H-huh? Y-yeah… What is it?”

Rios frowned. She swallowed because her cousin was smart. She sighed and walked over to them.

“Dane, you will be with me on the day of the festival, and I also have to introduce myself as a newbie in the business. We’ve been taking too long for our plans, and we have to start all over,” she said to Dane, who nodded and smiled.

Scarlett exhaled a sigh of relief after diverting from the topic.

“Rios, have you met the mastermind?” she asked, looking at her watch and checking that it was getting late.

Rios smirked and held his chin to think. “Hmm… Actually, I haven’t seen him yet; according to other people here, you will only hear his voice because they say Solen Madrid to be facing others as his proxy,” he explained. Scarlett gave a nod. “Why? Do you remember him?”

Scarlett frowned and froze. “Huh?”

Rios covered his mouth and whistled to make his cousin forget his question.

“Didn’t you see him when his men took Erin?” asked Claire. Scarlett frowned and shook her head, as if she remembered something.

“When Erin pushed me out the window, I heard a name… Ander? Yeah, Ander... Erin seems to know him,” she said with a frown. That was all she could hear.

They came to a halt as if something had dropped to the floor, and everyone looked at Claire as if she were still in a panic.

“A-Ander?”

Her friend’s behavior took Scarlett aback and asked, “Do you know him?”

Claire shook her head and tightened her grip on her laptop.

“N-no…”

Scarlett's eyes narrowed at Claire’s reaction, but she nodded, although something was off about her friend.

“Ander... Ander...” Rios murmured, as what Scarlett said sounded familiar to him. But his eyes widened, as if he remembered what his brother had just told him. “Oh, Anderson?”

Her cousin Rios took a back to her.

“Anderson Mejia?”

Scarlett shrugged, unsure. She checked her watch again and sat in her chair because it was nine o’clock at night.

“Why do you keep looking at your watch?”

Scarlett came to a halt and turned to face Dominic, who was watching her every move.

“None of your business!” screamed Scarlett as she sat on the sofa, rolling her eyes.

“Are you on your way somewhere?”

She became irritated and turned to her ex-husband. “Do I look like I’m going somewhere? Just proceed with your plan! Your mouth is already irritating me!” she yelled at Dominic, who laughed.

Scarlett is still adorable in his eyes. It’s like going back in time to high school.

Dominic returned to Rios, shaking his head. It frustrated Scarlett in her chair because time was running out.

She stood up after another look at her companion. Her companions are all busy, so she can go out without a problem. It startled her when her phone suddenly rang, and she grinned when she realized it was Jaguar calling her.

“Y-yes, baby? Oh, I miss you!” she answered the phone, and her companion was already looking at her, so she showed him his phone and signaled that she would go out to talk to the person who had called on her phone as she left their room.

(“I love you, baby!”)

“Baby, your face! I did that just so they wouldn’t suspect me, TSK!”

(“Of course, I’m waiting.”)

“All right, bye!”

She put her phone in her pocket and walked towards the elevator, but she noticed her sister.

“Oh, hi sister!” Sophia said with a smile.

She rolled her eyes and exhaled loudly.

“Are you going to get in my way all the time?” she asked. Sophia shook her head and smiled.

“Oh no. I’m looking for Dominic, who isn’t staying at our hotel.”

Scarlett raised an eyebrow but grinned. ‘So they’re staying together at the hotel, huh?’

“So, why do you have to block in front of me? Look for what you’re looking for; it might get lost,” she said to Sophia, smiling. As if teasing, the smile.

“Just keep avoiding Dominic, so he can be mine; you know, we have a past,” Sophia smiled.

Scarlett clenched her fist and inhaled deeply.

“You know, Sophia… Whatever you and Dominic have, I don’t care anymore, okay?” she said, and as she was about to walk away, Sophia blocked her path.

“Sis, don’t you still accept Dominic chose me instead of looking for you? And the chairperson is still mad at you, TSK.” Sophia shook her head, as if worried about her sister. “Imitate me because I always do what he wants, so I’ll be the one to replace him, right?” she said as she smiled at Scarlett. And she was about to pat her on the shoulder when Scarlett stepped back.

“Should I imitate you? Oh, Sophia! I’m not a snake like you!” she laughed, and Sophia's smile faded. “Just leave in front of me when I’m in a good mood, sister.”

She even bumped into Sophia, so she could leave, but Sophia blocked her path once again.

“I didn’t steal Dominic from you; I’m simply better, which is why he deceived you!”

Scarlett was stunned, but she sighed and turned to face her sister.

“You blocked me for that nonsense? Did you follow Dominic to annoy me? Oh well, you’re wrong dear…” she approached Sophia and whispered, “If you’re doing this to make me jealous… I won’t be jealous or hurt any longer because I’m not the same as before, Sophia.”

Sophia glared at her, becoming even more irritated.

“Why don’t you just disappear?”

Scarlett grinned because the truth came out of Sophia's mouth, and she also applauded because she got what her sister was saying.

“Oh, fuck. That’s what I want to hear, and it came from your mouth that you don’t want to see me,” Scarlett smirked, grabbing Sophia by the shoulder. “You know what, Sophia?” she said, bending down to place her mouth near Sophia’s ear. “If you want Dominic to be yours alone, go ahead; after all, that’s your dream, right? To steal my husband away from me.”

She tightened her grip on Sophia’s shoulder, which winced in pain.

“Oh, he’s yours now, so why did you let him go?”

Scarlett smirked when Sophia didn’t respond and appeared to just freeze where she was standing.

“He’s yours and swallow him whole; just have mercy on Tara, who has a mother like you,” Scarlett said as she walked in front of her sister to the elevator.

“Just have fun, Scarlett. I still have the last laugh!” Sophia exclaimed to Scarlett, who had just waved as she entered the elevator.

Scarlett exhaled a sigh of relief for almost slapping Sophia in the face.

“Bitch! Did she just block me? TSK, pathetic move,” she muttered, leaning back and waiting for her to come down to the first floor.

She also noticed the camera above and hit her head because they have CCTV all over San Martín and she was nervous that her companions would see and watch her escape.

They haven’t met Jaguar yet, and it may jeopardize their plans to see Erin tonight.

“Damn.”

She punched the elevator button and took a deep breath before it rang and opened. She ran out and peered through the CCTV cameras in the area she was trying to avoid, so her companion wouldn’t see her.

Scarlett was fully conscious of the fact that her cousin Rios would berate her for trying to act on her own. She would rather not waste time, either. It was of her accord that she resolved to save Erin.

She ran towards Jaguar’s car when she saw it.

“You’re late,” Jaguar said as she climbed into his car.

She rolled her eyes and leaned back in her seat. “It’s difficult to avoid the CCTVs! We have them all, and you know nothing about Claire. She’s a good hacker, so I’m sure they already know what I did.”

“Do you think I didn’t prepare for this?” asked Jaguar, raising his lips and shaking his head.

“Huh?”

She turned to look at Jaguar, who was smiling as he drove.

“I’m sure your friend is having difficulties right now.”

“W-what? W-what did you do…?”

The young man grinned.

“All I’m doing is turning off the CCTV on everything we pass by; don’t worry, I’ll turn it back on.”

Scarlett widened her eyes and yelled, “Oh, sh*t! You asshole.”

***

“DAMN! What happened? Why did all the CCTVs lose signal?!?” Claire exclaimed, trying to restore the system but being blocked, and if she tried again, the virus would infect her laptop.

“F-ck! Someone is blocking me! Rios!” she exclaimed as she turned to face Rios, who simply frowned as he watched their monitor with no signal.

“Are your cousins coming here? Sander, he’s the only one I know, one of the Knights’ good hackers!”

Rios shook his head and raised his hand. “Impossible; Sander isn’t that good at hacking, and you’re better than him.”

Claire smacked the table and attempted to reset the system, but it was failing.

“Shit! If I force the signal back, my system will get a virus! We won’t be able to see what’s going on outside!” Claire grumbled, closing her laptop because someone might find out about her account.

Rios shook his head, still confused why all the CCTVs they had suddenly lost signal. It’s as if someone that they don’t want to know what’s going on outside.

“TSK, is there anyone better than Claire?” he muttered as he tried to call his brother again, but there was no answer.

“It’s irritating! Where is Scarlett? She’s been out for half an hour. TSK. She’s so stubborn!” he grumbled.

“Would you like coffee, sir?”

When he saw Dane in front of him, he looked up and smiled. Even though they still had a problem, he invited him to coffee.

“You’re different; you look like a girl, but you’re still attractive,” he said, smiling.

“Sir, what are you talking about?”

Rios shook his head and looked at Claire before turning back to face Dane, whom he had carried to the table.

“Rios!” Dane yelled, pushing Rios away.

“I miss you…”

“Stop talking!”

“I have been feeling stressed.”

“And then what?”

Dominic frowned as he noticed the two of them flirting in front of him.

“I’m still here. Please respect me,” said Dominic, frowning.

Dane scratched his head in surprise and glared at Rios, who only smirked.

“I’m just going to cook,” Dane said, smiling despite his sudden shyness. Dominic nodded and smiled at him.

“Dane!”

Before heading to the kitchen, Dane raised an eyebrow.

“You don’t like girls?” asked Dominic

He gave a nod. “They’re annoying.”

Dominic grinned and raised his brows.

“Maybe you two over there want to help me?”

They exchanged glances and laughed at Claire, who was more stressed than them.

“Just relax, dear, it will come back,” said Rios, smirking and placing his hands on his head and feet on the table.

“Damn you, Rios! You are absolutely worthless!” Claire yelled, throwing a pen at Rios, who laughed.

“See?” asked Rios, looking over at Dominic, who was laughing at them. “They’re annoying, and my Dane is better than them.”

“Okay… Okay…” Dominic stood up and faced Rios. “I’m going outside because I still need to persuade Scarlett.”

Rios nodded, and Dominic was about to leave when the door burst open.

“Yo!”

“OH MY GOD! RIOS!”

“Brother Rios!”

“Claire, babe!”

Except for Rios, who smirked as he looked at their cousins, they were stunned. Dominic and Claire stared at the visitors.

“W-what are you doing here?!” Claire exclaimed, surprised.

“We are knights. We cannot sit and wait!” Lux exclaimed as he walked over to Rios. “You know everything! You’re annoying!”

Rios burst out laughing. “OK, okay, I miss you as well!”

Ara also reached out to hug Rios. While Rianne was hitting him.

“You jerk! You have forgotten us! I miss you.”

Rios laughed, scratched his head, and kissed his sister on the forehead.

Dominic sighed and walked out, but he came to a halt in front of Carter, who tapped him on the shoulder as he exited Scarlett’s suite.

“Where has Scarlett gone?”

Rios and Claire were taken aback and shook their heads, as they…not sure where the girl who hadn’t returned in a while she is going. They want to know where Scarlett is and why she escaped.

“We have no idea where she is…”

***

“Are you ready to see him now that we’ve arrived?”

Scarlett turned to Solen Madrid’s Hideout, knowing she’d return to the location where their plan had well almost failed.

“We’ll go through the back because that’s where the prisons are. I’ll go in first and wait for my signal to follow me because we can’t stay here for too long, or they’ll notice,” said Jaguar.

Scarlett nodded, unbuckled her seatbelt, and exhaled before stepping out of the car.

“Alright, let’s go.”

Jaguar pulled her inside, and they squeezed into a tunnel that would take them to the prison Scarlett had just found.

“It’s not in the blueprint that Rios gathered,” she stated.

Jaguar grinned as he looked at her. “I built the tunnel, dear, and no one knows about it except me.”

Scarlett remained silent, staring at the Jaguar. ‘Did he really go to such lengths to exact revenge?’ Scarlett wondered, since she couldn’t read Jaguar’s actions.

She sighed and let the Jaguar hold her because she needed his presence to see Erin.

Currently... She was only worried about seeing Erin and learning about his condition. It is her fault that Erin was captured, and she will also save his cousin and kill those who have committed a sin in his family.

It’s a matter of life and death.
